Willie Le Roux shares message to young players after 100th cap
Willie Le Roux has encouraged up-and-coming rugby players not to give up on their dreams after he made his 100th test appearance for the Springboks over the weekend.
The 35-year-old made his debut for the South African national rugby team in 2013. He has played in three Rugby World Cups, the last two of which the Boks have won.

In an emotional Instagram post, Willie Le Roux thanked the public for their well-wishes on his 100th test match. The cap took place on Saturday, 12 July, in South Africa's game against Italy at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Gqeberha.

SA won the game 45-0.
Sharing a collage of pictures for the special occasion, Willie posted: 'Playing my 100th test match for the Springboks is something I've wanted since I was a child. It's a moment that feels so surreal and incredibly humbling.
'The journey to get to here was never easy…there were definitely some tough times – injuries, doubts, setbacks – moments where the road ahead felt way too steep. But I held onto belief and kept pushing. Because when you love something this deeply, you find a way to keep going.
Willie le Roux used his own experience to encourage other aspiring rugby players.
He continued: 'Believe in your dreams. No matter where you come from, no matter how far away your goals may seem – it is possible. It does, however, take a lot of hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and heart'.
WHO IS THE HIGHEST CAPPED SPRINGBOK?
The highest-capped Springbok is currently Eben Etzebeth, who has made 132 appearances in green and gold.
Last October, the 33-year-old surpassed Victor Matfield's previous record of 127 caps. Apart from the duo, only six more Springboks have surpassed 100 test caps: Bryan Habana, Tendai Mtawarira, John Smit, Jean de Villiers, Percy Montgomery, and now Willie le Roux.
In an Instagram post, Eben congratulated Willie on his achievement.
He posted: 'What a privilege to know you and share a rugby field with you for the last few years. You are a legend, my brother and an incredible person'.
He added: 'WLR100 sounds just about right!'.

All-round effort carries Proteas to victory in T20 tri-series opener
The SA team chased down their target with more than four overs to spare. Shining with bat and ball, South Africa coasted to a five-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the opening match of the T20 International tri-series in Harare on Monday. Set a target of 142 runs to win, the Proteas lost three wickets within the first six overs of their chase, but they were stabilised by a solid partnership between debutant Rubin Hermann and 22-year-old Dewald Brevis. The duo shared 72 runs for the fourth wicket, keeping the SA team in the driving seat, before Brevis was removed in the 12th over. Brevis smashed 41 runs off just 17 balls in an innings which featured five sixes. After he fell, Hermann was then dismissed for 45 off 37 when seamer Richard Ngarava flattened his off-stump a few overs later. They had done enough, however, to take the pressure off the middle-order as they cruised to victory with 25 balls to spare. Zimbabwe innings Earlier, after being sent in to bat, Zimbabwe's top order were pinned back by frontline bowlers Lungi Ngidi and Nandre Burger during the powerplay, and they found themselves struggling at 39/2 in the eighth over. Jasper Wiese comments after red card
World Rugby has confirmed that Jasper Wiese will appear before a Disciplinary Committee for a full hearing after he was shown a straight red card for what was deemed to be a headbutt on Italian prop Danilo Fischetti on Saturday. The disciplinary hearing will take place on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, and Wiese is expected to face a ban that spans several weeks, especially considering his disciplinary history. Speaking after Saturday's match, Wiese himself admitted that fault lay with him after this incident. 'I know I let the team down. Well done to the guys for grinding it out – it's not easy playing with 14, and they showed real grit today. A silly moment from me,' he admitted. The big No 8 has only recently recovered from injury, and there will now be a big job for the likes of Jean-Luc du Preez and Evan Roos to cover eighthman, while the Springboks may also need to consider shifting a utility forward to the back of the scrum. 'We have versatile players in our squad,' Springbok assistant coach Deon Davids commented. 'Players like Evan (Roos), Siya (Kolisi) and Marco (van Staden) can cover No 8, so we have a few players who can play there for us.' Davids otherwise confirmed that all players are fit and available for selection, with Erasmus set to name the match-23 on Tuesday.
