New York City Pride parade 2025: Route, date, time and where to watch
This weekend, June will go out with a bang with multiple highly anticipated parades that draw marchers and spectators to communities big and small. Pride Month commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, where subsequent protests are credited with a shift in LGBTQ+ activism in the U.S. Being the birthplace of Pride as we know it, New York City has one of the biggest and most iconic celebrations and marches each year.
This year's theme is "Rise up: Pride in Protest," according to organizers. "As the LGBTQIA+ community faces increasing hostility and legislative attacks, this year's theme is a reflection of the Pride movement's origins in protest—and is a powerful call to action for our communities and allies to rally and march in defiant celebration, advocacy and solidarity," said Heritage of Pride.
When is the NYC Pride parade?
The NYC Pride March is scheduled to begin Sunday, June 29, at 11 a.m. ET.
What is the NYC Pride parade route?
This year's parade route begins on 5th Avenue between 25th Street and 8th Street, according to the New York City Department of Transportation.
Marchers will proceed south on 5th Avenue and walk west on 8th Street. After crossing over 6th Avenue, the March will continue on Christopher Street, passing the Stonewall National Monument.
It will then turn north on 7th Avenue, passing the New York City AIDS Memorial, before dispersing in Chelsea at 16th Street and 7th Avenue.
How to watch the NYC Pride parade
In-person viewing of the 2024 March will be available along the route streets listed above. Experienced Pride-goers suggest nabbing a spot along the main stretches early, as crowds can get thick.
The yearly broadcast of the event is set to air on ABC7, ABC News Live and ABC7NY.com and on the ABC7 YouTube channel and will begin at noon.

Thousands gather to celebrate third Pride by the Harbourside
THOUSANDS of people gathered on Whitehaven Harbour to celebrate this year's Pride event. The third Pride by the Harbourside took place on Saturday with a parade led by the deputy lord lieutenant for Cumbria and the MP for Whitehaven and Workington, Josh MacAlister. A free concert was then opened by Eurovision icon Sonia and performances followed by boyband 911, Danish Eurodance group Cartoons and English house music duo Freemasons. Along the harbour were food stalls, information stalls, and a variety of family-friendly activities. For the first time, Rosehill Theatre hosted a community stage. The event, organised by Proud and Diverse Cumbria, attracted between 8,000 and 10,000 people to the harbourside. The parade at Pride by the Harbourside (Image: Colin Johnston) Glenn Anderson, director for Proud and Diverse Cumbria, said: 'It was fantastic. There was so much colour, so much vibrancy. The stallholders did tremendous trade. 'Most importantly, from my perspective, we provided an environment that was good for the mental health wellbeing of vulnerable and isolated people. That's our job done. 'The number of people dressed up, wearing glitter and carrying flags, there were thousands of people who were there associated with our event, not just visitors. That's a great thing because it evidences the need for these safe spaces to be created. The event brought colour and vibrancy to Whitehaven Harbour (Image: Colin Johnston) 'I equally wish to point out that Cumberland Council are doing a very good job addressing the rights of minority people. 'I have to publicly recognise that we have achieved some of the goals that we wanted to. I have to thank the people who are in power for listening that we all wanted was equality and parity. 'It's getting to the point that maybe the next event doesn't need to have a label. I don't want us to be segregated in any way. We are part of the community. Our focus going forward, is to continue integrating into the community. Josh MacAlister, the MP for Whitehaven and Workington, gives a speech at Pride by the Harbourside (Image: Josh MacAlister) 'Truly thanks to the harbour commissioners for allowing us each and every year to bring some colour and vibrancy to such a beautiful, historic, scenic location. We are extremely privileged that they grant us permission every year to do that. 'Thank you to the leader and deputy leader of the council, Mark Fryer and Emma Williamson, who have been great champions and have done what they pledged in their manifestos.' Josh MacAlister, MP for Whitehaven and Workington, said: 'It was an honour to help open the celebrations and to stand alongside so many friends, families, allies and neighbours in support of our LGBT+ community. The colour, the music, the joy, and - most of all - the sense of togetherness made me proud of what Pride represents. Josh MacAlister, the MP for Whitehaven and Workington, at Pride by the Harbourside (Image: Josh MacAlister) 'As Cumbria's first openly gay MP, I'll never take for granted the progress we've made, or the importance of events like this in showing that whoever you are, and whoever you love, you are welcome and valued here. 'Thank you to the organisers, volunteers and everyone who made the day such a success. Here's to many more years of Pride by the Harbourside - and to carrying that spirit of inclusion and equality with us every day of the year.'

Hundreds celebrated at Charlotte Pride following Supreme Court petition to review same-sex marriage ruling
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Pride events this weekend turned Uptown Charlotte into a party. Large crowds came out to the parade on Sunday to celebrate. Organizers expected hundreds of thousands of people in the city for the two-day festival and parade. 'It's welcoming,' said Rayonna Lee Gutierrez, who just moved to Charlotte this summer. 'It's a fresh breath of air. It's a relief to bring me and my family to an area that supports.' A man who goes by Smokey said, 'I appreciate it because it gives us a time to bring everyone together. Everyone feels a part of something.' People at the parade told Queen City News a celebration like Pride is especially important at a time when things can feel unsettled in the LGBTQ+ community. This week, the Supreme Court was formally petitioned to reconsider and overturn its landmark gay marriage ruling. LEGAL ANALYST | 'I am gay. I have a wife of almost five years, and yes, it does seem fragile,' Lee Gutierrez said. 'There's a lot going on all over the world. I feel like even if you're not gay, if you're related to someone who's gay or you're friends with somebody who's gay, it's definitely a sensitive topic right now.' Parade organizers say any social justice movement will come with pushback. 'Right now we're facing some upheaval and some attack and some targeting of our community, and so we just have to keep going,' said Meredith Thompson, Charlotte Pride's managing director. Andrea Boone is from Charlotte and marched in the parade. 'We have to celebrate everybody, and I believe that today Charlotte showed out and showed love to the community, and it was beautiful,' she said. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Tristan Rogers death: Longtime ‘General Hospital' star dies at 79 after cancer battle
Longtime 'General Hospital' star Tristan Rogers has died at the age of 79 after a battle with lung cancer. Rogers died Friday morning, his manager, Meryl Soodak, confirmed in a statement obtained by ABC 7 Eyewitness News. Soodak noted Rogers had never been a smoker. The Australian native was known for the role of Robert Scorpio on the soap opera 'General Hospital.' Soodak said that role, which Rogers played on and off over 45 years, 'meant everything to him.' "He loved being Scorpio and he created that role from nothing. He was supposed to work a day and he ended up making it into something huge,' his manager said. 'He was just a genuinely loyal, kind human being and he loved his family.' Rogers is survived by his wife, Teresa Parkerson, and their children, Sarah and Cale. He had been married to Parkerson since 1995, according to his IMDb biography. The TV star announced his cancer diagnosis last month. 'While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family,' Rogers' representatives said in a statement shared by multiple outlets. 'They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family. Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years. This support means more to him now than ever,' the statement read. 'General Hospital' Executive Producer Frank Valentini shared condolences on behalf of the TV show. 'The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers' passing,' he said in a statement shared by multiple outlets. 'Tristan has captivated our fans for 45 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio).' 'I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace,' Valentini said. Tributes from heartbroken fans poured in when news broke of Rogers' death. 'RIP Tristan Rogers. I'm glad we got to see him last being a dad to [General Hospital character] Sasha, it was like a goodbye in a way to us subtlety. Bless him,' one fan wrote on X. A fan page dedicated to soap opera actor Matthew Ashford also shared condolences: 'We are saddened to hear of #TristanRogers passing today. A soap legend, costar and friend - gone but never forgotten #RIP.' 'Another sad day for our GH fam: Tristian Rogers has passed away this morning at the age of 79. We lost one of the greats. Thank you for all you have given us Tristian. May he rest in peace,' another fan wrote. Rogers also appeared in over 100 episodes of TV series 'The Young and the Restless' and 'The Bay,' according to IMDb. He also did a stint on the TV show 'Studio City.' His 'General Hospital' co-star, Finola Hughes, whose character Anna Devane shared a whirlwind romance with Scorpio, talked about her first time working with Rogers in a Soap Opera Digest interview in April. 'Legendarily, as he walked away from set, he turned to me, put his arm around me and said, 'We're gonna have fun, kid!' It was like straight out of a Western!' she said. 'The Young and the Restless' actress Jess Walton, whose character Jill Foster Abbott was coupled with Rogers' character Colin Atkinson, praised the actor's humor to Soap Opera Digest in a 2019 interview. 'That man makes me laugh so much,' Walton said. 'Rehearsing with him can sometimes be a challenge. I have to keep telling him, 'Please don't say it like that because I'm going to laugh when I'm not supposed to in the story.' But when we run lines, I usually end up laughing the whole time. He's so great.'
