CM urged to take up Muktyala LI project
Secretariat (Velagapudi): Nettem Sriraghuram, former minister and NTR district TDP chief, has appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for immediate commencement of the work on the long-awaited Muktyala Lift Irrigation Project, a decade-long dream for the people of the Jaggayyapeta constituency.
He met the CM at the Secretariat here on Friday and pointed out that this project, initiated by the previous TDP government with allocated funds and a formal foundation laying, aims at providing irrigation to 38,627 acres across Jaggayyapeta, Vatsavai, and Penuganchiprolu mandals, along with drinking water to 30 villages. He noted that the project had been sidelined by the succeeding Jagan-led administration.
During the meeting, Sriraghuram brought several other important matters also to the attention of the Chief Minister. He highlighted the condition of Paleti Bridge, located on Jaggayyapeta–Muktyala road, which was severely damaged due to last year's heavy rains. He requested construction of a new high-level bridge at the site.
He urged the Chief Minister to ensure proper connectivity for the long bridge currently being built over the Krishna River between Muktyala and Madipadu. Specifically, he suggested linking it from Khammam through Gandrayi, Jaggayyapeta and Muktyala to the Khammam National Highway, and from Madipadu to the National Highway near Sattenapalli.
The TDP leader mentioned the longstanding concerns of Inam landowners, who are currently unable to sell, mortgage or even prove clear ownership of their lands due to legal restrictions. He appealed for a permanent solution by granting full ownership rights and lifting all existing prohibitions on these lands.

Minister Nimmala inaugurates key infrastructure projects in Kurnool dist
Kurnool: District in-charge Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu inaugurated several major development works in Kurnool district on Wednesday, reiterating the government's commitment to regional progress and welfare. During his visit to Tadakanapalle village in Kallur mandal on Wednesday, the Minister unveiled internal CC roads constructed at a cost of Rs 678.5 lakh. He also inaugurated a newly laid BT road connecting Kurnool-Anugonda road to Doddipadu, developed at an estimated cost of Rs 141 lakh. MP Bastupati Nagaraju, Panyam MLA Gowru Charitha Reddy, district Collector P Ranjith Basha and others were present. Minister Ramanaidu lauded the women of Tadakanapalle, calling them a source of national pride. He highlighted the scale of ongoing development in the region, noting that Rs 2,014 crore have been spent on 2,294 works across the district. Emphasising industrial growth, he stated that key industries are being brought into Kurnool to enhance its industrial landscape. He announced that 5,653 hectares have already been brought under drip irrigation, reflecting the government's commitment to modern agricultural practices. The Minister also mentioned that Rs 3,800 crore have been sanctioned to accelerate works of Handri-Neeva Project, a critical lifeline for the region. He contrasted this with the previous five years, during which no significant spending or progress was made on these vital projects. Minister Ramanaidu praised TDP founder NT Rama Rao, attributing the empowerment of women in Andhra Pradesh to his vision. He credited TDP leader and CM N Chandrababu Naidu for pioneering self-help groups (DWCRA) that provided financial stability to women, and for launching initiatives such as the 'Deepam' scheme for improving women's health and safety. Calling the current alliance, a 'pro-women coalition government', he emphasised the government's swift actions post-coming into power. 'We increased pensions in the very first month of our tenure,' he noted, while pointing out that it took former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy five years to implement a Rs 1,000 pension hike. Touching on employment, Ramanaidu stated that 16,000 teaching posts are being filled, with 30% of them allocated to Kurnool district alone. Looking ahead, he announced plans for the Polavaram-Banakacharla project, envisioned at a massive Rs 80,000 crore, which is expected to transform Rayalaseema into a lush green belt. He took a swipe at the opposition, remarking that YSRCP is shedding crocodile tears over the region's development, while Chandrababu Naidu is working tirelessly to fill the gaps they left behind.

AP govt to celebrate first anniversary on a grand scale
Vijayawada: The TDP-led NDA government is set to celebrate its first anniversary on a grand scale on Thursday. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan, ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, officials and a large number of people will participate in the first anniversary programme to be organised in Amaravati. The NDA government assumed charge on June 12, 2024. The government will use the celebratory function as a key platform to showcase its achievements over the past one year. It will also be used to communicate the government's vision and strategic objectives for the next four years, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive development and good governance. In the first anniversary programme, the coalition government is going to highlight its achievements, including distribution of Rs 2,720 crore every month towards pensions to 64 lakh people. The government also issued DSC notification to fill 16,347 teacher posts and conducted tests. Under the Deepam scheme, the state government has been giving three gas cylinders to women free of cost by spending Rs 2,684 crore. The state government, as per its promise, repaired roads at a length of 20,000 km at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. Coming to the welfare of fishermen, the government allotted Rs 259 crore and distributed Rs 20,000 each during the fishing holiday period. Besides, 203 Anna Canteens were set up and 61 more will come up soon.

Siddaramaiah asks Chandrababu Naidu to lift Andhra's Totapuri mango imports ban
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu, urging him to withdraw the ban on the import of Totapuri mangoes from other states, including Karnataka, into Chittoor prohibition, reportedly issued by the Chittoor District Collector on June 7, has disrupted the livelihoods of thousands of mango growers in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah wrote in his the ban 'abrupt and unilateral,' Siddaramaiah expressed concern that it had caused 'considerable hardship to mango growers in Karnataka, particularly those in the border regions who cultivate Totapuri mangoes in substantial quantities.' He said the farmers had long depended on linkages with Chittoor-based processing and pulp units to market their produce, and the current disruption threatened 'significant post-harvest losses.''I understand that multidisciplinary enforcement teams comprising officials from the Revenue, Police, Forest and Marketing Departments have been deployed at the inter-State check-posts adjoining Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to implement this directive,' Siddaramaiah noted in his Karnataka Chief Minister warned that such decisions, made without prior consultation, were against the spirit of cooperative federalism. 'Actions of this nature, taken without prior consultation or coordination, run contrary to the spirit of cooperative federalism. I am also concerned that this may lead to avoidable tension and retaliatory measures,' he urged Naidu to intervene and ensure the immediate revocation of the order. 'I trust that you will treat this issue with the seriousness it warrants, and take swift steps to restore the seamless movement of agricultural produce in the interest of farmer welfare,' Siddaramaiah Karnataka Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh earlier wrote to her Andhra Pradesh counterpart echoing the Chief Minister's concerns. She warned that the decision risked 'triggering retaliatory sentiments,' adding that some stakeholders in Karnataka had already begun calling for restrictions on vegetable inflows from Andhra Chittoor district administration has not publicly stated specific reasons for the ban, which applies to all Totapuri mango imports from outside Andhra Pradesh.
