Liverpool positioned to sign Neymar's SUCCESSOR
Liverpool are now consistently linked with a move for Rodrygo in the Spanish press. The Brazilian is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer after looking surplus to requirements under Xabi Alonso.
AS are the latest to make the link. They claim Liverpool are now at the front of the queue for Rodrygo, moving Arsenal to one side.
He's expected to cost around €100m if Real Madrid do indeed sell - potentially one of the biggest transfers of the entire window. Even if Liverpool are the one club where that wouldn't be the case.
But Rodrygo is available and if Luis Diaz departs this summer - and that's starting to look likely - then Liverpool will reportedly move for him. With that, they'd secure one of the most talented players in the world.
From Neymar to Rodrygo
Rodrygo Goes is someone Liverpool have tracked for a long, long time now. They initially wanted to grab him from Santos before the hype grew.
Santos, however, decided at the last minute to wait enough a year. They wanted to take a chance on that hype generating a much bigger sale down the line.
They were correct to do so, as it turned out. Rodrygo became a phenomenon and Real Madrid paid a lot of money to sign him.
From there, his reputation hasn't quite grown at the rate it should have. Rodrygo is pretty much fourth fiddle at Real Madrid right now and not considered to be a genuine superstar.
Only, he is. All the data suggests there's a much better player there than people realise - there's a reason Neymar considered him a successor for Brazil, after all.
Rodrygo tells the story of that to Podpah, as relayed by AS.

Liverpool advancing in talks for mega transfer
Liverpool are in advanced talks for a mega deal that could transform the club. This is a very exciting moment in the transfer window for the Reds. The club's sporting director, Richard Hughes, has completed the core of his business so far. LFC Kits Shop Now LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Now what remains is the transfer that Liverpool have yearned for the most. The arrival of Alexander Isak. What once seemed like a wishful fantasy is now very much rooted in hope and reality. Isak wants to leave Newcastle. Liverpool want to sign him. Newcastle don't want to let him go. However, at the end of the day, you cannot keep an unhappy player around forever. Especially one that doesn't even go on the pre-season tour, due to a 'thigh injury.' But before Liverpool can fully pursue a move for Isak, there is one step they have to do and one deal they have to pull off in order to make the dream genuinely feasible. Liverpool have already spent a lot of money this summer. With Hugo Ekitike's arrival, they are approaching close to the £300m mark, which is a hefty sum. At this moment in time, the sum that Newcastle want for Isak is around £150m. Realistically, Liverpool could afford the fee and be compliant with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). However, they do have to make wiggle room for Isak in the playing squad. At this moment in time, Arne Slot's team is stacked with attacking talent. With the arrival of Florian Wirtz and Ekitike, Liverpool have seven first team players who can play in various roles around the front three - before we even mention Ben Doak. Three of those players, Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa and Luis Diaz face uncertain futures at the club. Which is why Liverpool want to sign Isak. But in order for Isak to come in, a few of the players are going to have to leave and make way for the Swede. And it looks like, Diaz in particular is now closing in on a move away from the club, to make room for Isak. According to TBR's football correspondent Graeme Bailey writing on X, Liverpool are in 'advanced talks' with Bayern Munich over the sale of the Colombian. The report claims that the move is only going in one direction. It is fully expected that Diaz will leave the club for pastures new, and the German giants now look close to securing their man in what will be a mega deal for both sides. **👉 **Liverpool set to increase transfer budget by £200m 🔗

Alexander Isak's move to Liverpool takes HUGE step forward
The trump card that can deliver Isak to Liverpool Everyone is talking about the money the Reds have spent so far this summer, and let's be clear - it is extraordinary - but it's signing Isak on top of our spending remains a genuine possibility this summer. And the reason is because of players like Luis Diaz and Nunez, who are expected to bring in a significant amount when they are sold. Moves for the Uruguayan are being considered for around £50-60m and while the club would make a loss with that figure, it's still not a small transfer fee. Now that Ekitike is at the club, Liverpool could decide to keep Nunez, which would mean Arne Slot still has two strikers to call upon, without any more money being spent, which be a frugal idea. But a fee for Nunez could help go towards bringing in Isak and the impact of Diaz's possible move is also going to be huge. He's a player that Liverpool could quite easily be without next season since Cody Gakpo and Florian Wirtz can play at left-wing and Rio Ngumoha is already showing promise.

Liverpool Are Stepping Up Their Efforts To Land This Real Madrid Winger: Dream Choice For Slot?
In a recent report, Foot Mercato revealed that Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to land Real Madrid winger Rodrygo. It has been mentioned that the Reds are showing interest in bringing the Brazilian attacker to Anfield this summer. Rodrygo's Impressive Form In Spanish Football Rodrygo had a productive season at the Madrid club recently after he put in a string of impressive performances for them in the final third. The Brazilian sensation scored 14 times and picked up 11 assists in 54 matches for Los Blancos in the previous campaign across all competitions. The 24-year-old managed to shine at times with contributions in the opponent's half as he averaged 2.52 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He kept 37% of his attempts on target. Rodrygo was even careful when distributing possession in the final third, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 85.9% in the top tier of Spanish football (stats via Rodrygo's current contract at Real Madrid will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, it won't be easy for Liverpool to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season. MADRID, SPAIN – MARCH 29: Rodrygo of Real Madrid is challenged by Renato Tapia of CD Leganes during the LaLiga match between Real Madrid CF and CD Leganes at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on March 29, 2025 in Madrid, Spain. (Photo by) Will Rodrygo Be A Dream Choice For Liverpool Boss Arne Slot? Rodrygo can find a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He is a good finisher in the final third and has got the vision to engineer a few inviting chances for his teammates to score. The Brazilian wide player is a decent dribbler with the ball as well and can contribute by scoring a lot of important goals for his side. He is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if asked to do so. Rodrygo would no doubt enhance the quality of Liverpool head coach Arne Slot's frontline. He is good enough to help the Reds challenge for some major honours over the next few years. At 24, Rodrygo has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a dream choice for the Merseyside club to consider in this transfer window. However, there are some question marks over whether he can maintain his good form in the Premier League if Liverpool manage to bring him to Anfield this summer.
