Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) celebrations of winning the IPL 2025 title turned pale on Wednesday when at least 11 people died and 56 others were injured in a massive stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The stampede took place when a huge crowd gathered to join the bus parade, which was planned just hours after the team defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final on Tuesday. In the wake of the incident, four RCB officials have been arrested, including Nikhil Sosle, RCB's marketing and revenue head. Image credit: X (Formerly Twitter)
Born on August 18, 1986, Sosle has been the marketing and revenue head of RCB for the last two years, according to his LinkedIn profile. Sosle is originally an employee of Diageo India, which operates RCB owner United Spirits Limited (USL). USL became the full-time owner of RCB after the departure of former owner Vijay Mallya.
Talking about Sosle, he is in charge of the design and strategy behind the RCB brand. Sosle, who lives in Bengaluru, has been with Diageo for 13 years, where he has worked closely with the franchise throughout. Sosle has also been the head of commercial partnerships at RCB. Virat Kohli can be seen with his wife Anushka Sharma in the RCB's private box. Kohli also follows him on Instagram. Sosle's wife Malvika Nayak is a long-time friend of Anushka.
RCB's marketing and revenue head Nikhil Sosle, Sunil Mathew of DNA Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Kiran Kumar were questioned. According to the police, Sosle was on his way to Mumbai when he was arrested from Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport around 6.30 am on Friday.
On Thursday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered the arrest of RCB representatives after an FIR was lodged against them, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Sosale along with three members of event management company DNA Entertainment Pvt Ltd have been arrested.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday ordered the suspension of Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand and several senior police officers in connection with the stampede in front of the Chinnaswamy Stadium here and appointed senior IPS officer Seemant Kumar Singh as Bengaluru Police Commissioner until further orders. [...] According to a notification, senior IPS officer and Additional Director General of Police of Bengaluru Metropolitan Task Force Seemant Kumar Singh has been "transferred with immediate effect and posted as Additional Director General of Police and Bengaluru Police Commissioner until further orders."
Meanwhile, the families of those killed in Wednesday's tragic incident are still inconsolable and have blamed the authorities for the stampede. [...] Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar became emotional while talking about the incident and said that the image of Bengaluru has been tarnished due to the incident. He said, "We are deeply saddened. The victims are our own family members. Image of Karnataka, image of Bengaluru... Yes, we take it (responsibility). We are not blaming others, though it has happened very unexpectedly."

IND vs ENG: 'Banned for 2 years from IPL, costed millions' - ECB chair praises England players' mentality

Gus Atkinson of England is mobbed by team mates after running out Shubman Gill on Day One of the 5th Test at The Oval (Photo by) As rain interrupted proceedings on Day 1 of the fifth and final Test between India and England, a strong message came from ECB chair Richard Thompson. The official lauded the commitment of England players, highlighting batter Harry Brook 's decision to pull out of IPL 2025 despite the financial cost. Brook had been bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹6.2 crore in the IPL mega auction, but the 26-year-old withdrew just days before the start of the tournament to prioritise playing for England. That decision has led to a two-season IPL auction ban for the right-hander. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! 'Look at Harry Brook, who we hadn't even had a conversation with about taking on the white ball captaincy, and he knows by not playing in this year's IPL he is then banned for the next two years,' said Thompson. 'That decision cost him several million dollars, and it wasn't even a thought that he wouldn't do that.' Thompson reflected on a broader question being asked across the cricketing world: 'Is this when players start to prioritise franchise cricket over playing for their country?' The current predicament can also be seen in the way certain teams have seen players retire early from the National team setups to focus on franchise cricket and other T20 leagues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like When the Camera Clicked at the Worst Possible Time Read More Undo But in his view, the answer from within the England setup is clear. 'It could not be further from the reality of the dressing room that Baz (Brendon McCullum) has created there with Rob (Key) and a brilliant captain in Ben (Stokes). It has transformed the sense of everyone wanting to be part of that dressing room,' Thompson said. 'And as part of that decision to make Baz both white-ball coach as well as red-ball coach, he has created that golden thread. So the desire for any English cricketer to play for England, I don't think has ever been greater.' Under head coach Brendon McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, England have looked united and competitive, even as they battle a spirited Indian side in the ongoing series. Poll Should players prioritize national duty over franchise leagues like IPL? Yes, national duty should come first No, players should choose what's best for their careers As tensions flared and arguments broke out between the two sides, the hosts have looked like a solid unit, standing their ground and backing their players over the four Tests that have concluded. KL Rahul to KKR? Which teams has he played for in the IPL

KL Rahul (Photo by) KL Rahul could be on the move again. The Kolkata Knight Riders are reportedly interested in bringing the experienced India batter into their squad ahead of IPL 2026. While the trade may not go through easily, the buzz has already started around Rahul's next destination. Rahul has had quite the IPL journey. He began with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 for just INR 10 lakhs. After a brief stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2014 and 2015, he returned to RCB in 2016 and played a key role in their run to the final. Unfortunately, he missed the 2017 season due to injury. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! It was with Punjab Kings, though, that Rahul truly came into his own. Bought for INR 11 crore in 2018, he was made captain and became one of the most consistent run-scorers in the league. After four seasons, he joined Lucknow Super Giants in 2022 for a whopping INR 17 crore and led them to the playoffs in his first year. However, he was ruled out of the 2023 season midway due to an injury he suffered during fielding in a match against RCB and 2024 was a disappointing campaign as LSG did not make the playoffs. KL Rahul linked with KKR for mega trade ahead of IPL 2026; Why 3-time champs want India batter from Delhi Capitals?

Three-time Indian Premier League (IPL) champions Kolkata Knight Riders are keen on getting India's wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul in a high-profile trade from Delhi Capitals, ahead of the upcoming season next year. Rahul, who captained Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for three seasons from 2022 to 2024, was bought for ₹ 14 crore by Delhi Capitals during the mega auction in Saudi Arabia ahead of IPL 2025. According to a TOI report, the Shahrukh Khan co-owned franchise are interested in the India opener and have already contacted the cricketer, who is currently on national duty in the United Kingdom in the ongoing Test series against England. Having made his IPL debut in 2013, Rahul has been prolific with the bat since the 2018 season and is one of the most-sought after players in the cash -rich league. In the last eight years, Rahul scored 600-plus runs in four seasons and 500-plus runs thrice. The only year where couldn't made his bat do the talking was in 2023. In fact in IPL 2025, Rahul managed 539 runs from 13 games including a hundred and three fifties. Ever since KKR parted ways with 2024 IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer, finding a perfect candidate for leadership has been a task for the KKR management. During the IPL 2025 mega auction, KKR didn't spend money on a player with good captaincy record, instead spend a whopping ₹ 23.75 crores on Venkatesh Iyer. KKR appointed Ajinkya Rahane as the captain for IPL 2025, and crashed out of the league stage. If Rahul joins the Kolkata franchise, Rahul could be named as captain at KKR. Another reason for KKR showing interest in Rahul is his connection with former India assistant coach Abhishek Bayar. The former Mumbai stalwart has worked with Rahul during his India days. However, the biggest drawback for KKR will be they have no one who could Rahul's potential at Delhi Capitals. Honestly, KKR do not have any such player on whom Delhi Capitals may be interested upon. 'However, the deal is unlikely to work out as KKR don't have anybody they can trade to the Delhi Capitals in return,' a source told TOI.
