Searchlight Pictures has scooped worldwide rights to Alexander Payne's next project 'Somewhere Out There' which will star Renate Reinsve, the Cannes prizewinning Norwegian actor of Joachim Trier's 'The Worst Person in the World.'
The Danish-language movie, which will mark Payne's first European feature, is being produced by Birgitte Skov at Scanbox Production, a Vuelta Group company, and will be shooting in 2026 in Denmark.

'Somewhere Out There' will reunite Payne with Searchlight Pictures 20 years after the studio successfully handled 'Sideways' which became a cult film. Searchlight Pictures also handled 'The Descendants.' Both 'Sideways' and 'The Descendants' won an Oscar for best adapted screenplay.
'Some of my very finest filmmaking experiences have involved Searchlight,' Payne said. 'A return partnership was just a matter of time, and I'm elated.'
Matthew Greenfield, Searchlight Pictures president said, 'Alexander Payne is a master storyteller, and reuniting with him is a true joy.'
''Somewhere Out There' marks an exciting new chapter, as Alexander makes yet another beautiful, honest, and deeply funny film,' Greenfield continued. The exec also praised the 'extraordinary team' behind the project, 'including Thor Sigurjonsson and our new friends at Scanbox.'
The worldwide deal with Searchlight excludes the Nordics which will be handled by Scanbox. Thor Sigurjonsson, Scanbox Entertainment boss, said the deal with Searchlight 'is a perfect example of how we, at Scanbox Entertainment and Vuelta, look at when producing local features.'
'With Searchlight onboard the film, it is a great opportunity for a Danish Language film to find the widest audience possible,' Sigurjonsson said. 'Matthew and Chan Phung were so passionate about the project and we believe we have a great partnership for the film with Searchlight.'
'Somewhere Out There' is co-produced by Norway's Hummel Film Sweden's Nordic Drama Queens and France's Maneki Films.
The screenplay was penned by Erlend Loe, based on Åke Sandgren's original idea. Reinsve, who will play a supporting role in 'Somewhere Out There,' is at Cannes this year with Trier's 'Sentimental Value.'
The plot remains under wrap. 'Somewhere Out There' will mark Payne's follow up to 'The Holdovers' which earned five Oscar nominations in 2024, including best picture, and won best supporting actress for Da'Vine Joy Randolph.
Vuelta Group's Scanbox Entertainment are financing. The film is backed by the Danish Film Institute and Regional Fund Vestdanske Filmpulje (DVF), the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI), and the Danish Broadcasting Corp (DR).

Giada De Laurentiis says she cried after this famed chef credited her success to 'big boobs' in cookbook foreword

In a recent interview, the Food Network star said her editor had to completely rewrite the introduction before her 2005 debut cookbook was published. Giada De Laurentiis recently recalled crying after she read the disparaging comments that, she says, chef Mario Batali wrote about her in a foreword for her first cookbook. The Italian-born chef, cookbook author and Food Network regular joined host Samah Dada on her YouTube show On the Menu on July 29. In a clip from the episode shared on TikTok on Aug. 11, De Laurentiis told Dada she had a story about a person she was 'not supposed to talk about' but was 'going to.' That person was Batali, who De Laurentiis worked with at the Food Network early in her culinary career. De Laurentiis explained that she had asked Batali to write a foreword to her first cookbook, Everyday Italian, which debuted in 2005, as Batali was 'a legend in the Italian space' at the time. She said his 'stamp of approval' would have been 'huge' for her, and she was happy when he agreed to write it. 'When I read it, I cried because I realized, 'Oh, he's basically saying that I've gotten to where I've gotten, and I've had this little bit of success that I had, because I have big boobs, and that if he had boobs, he would even be much further,'' De Laurentiis recalled. 'Because I'm like, a joke, right? Like, to him, it was like a little bit of a joke.' De Laurentiis said she called her editor 'in tears,' knowing she could not use what Batali allegedly wrote in the intro of her book. Her editor said they would rewrite his foreword and send it to him for approval, which they did. 'So we rewrote it, but I will never forget that,' she said. 'That's basically what a lot of people figured: cute girl with big boobs, so that's why they're watching her.' The final version of De Laurentiis's foreword is flattering toward the author and focuses on her talents in the art of Italian cuisine. 'It turns out that Giada is smart, Italian-speaking, and family-oriented — the three qualities my grandma hoped I'd find in a girl to marry. (Too late for that.) She's also a great cook, highly knowledgeable about food, and a huge amount of fun to be around — the three qualities I'd hope to find in a television partner,' Batali's foreword reads. Batali has not commented on De Laurentiis's account of what he wrote. Batali is a famed American chef, known for his Italian cooking style. He previously had multiple restaurants across the globe and was a co-host of ABC's The Chew from 2011 to 2017. In 2017, Batali was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women in an article on the food website Eater. Following the allegations, Batali stepped away from his restaurant empire and was asked by ABC to take leave from the talk show. In 2018, De Laurentiis appeared on the podcast Eater Upsell and stated that she was not surprised to learn of the allegations against Batali. 'I did not have those exact experiences with him, but it doesn't come as a huge shock,' she said at the time. 'Anybody who's ever hung out with Mario knows he's a very charismatic person,' she continued. 'We drink too much and sometimes … I'm not legitimizing it by any means. I know I've been through my own issues in this business. I think any woman in any business goes through stuff. It's just sad, you know? It's time, but it's also sad. It's a combo, and I think we all feel both.' Solve the daily Crossword

J-Hope's Entire Solo Chart History Reappears On The Same List

K-pop stars are known as some of the bestselling musicians in the world these days. While many music fans have migrated to streaming platforms to consume the songs and albums they love, the biggest names emerging from the South Korean music industry have a tendency to sell huge quantities of individual tunes and full-lengths and EPs, usually on physical formats. Diehard K-pop fans often prefer CDs and, in some cases, vinyl, as the genre lends itself to collectibles. J-Hope, one of the seven singers that make up BTS, proves his selling ability once again in one of the largest music markets in the world this week. He returns to the Official Physical Singles chart, the U.K.'s ranking of the top-selling individual tunes available on any physical format. Typically that means vinyl, but for J-Hope, CDs are the go-to choice. 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Killin' It Girl' Reappear 'Sweet Dreams,' his collaboration with Miguel, and 'Killin' It Girl,' a team-up with rapper GloRilla, both find their way back to the roster this frame, coming in at Nos. 35 and 60, respectively. Both 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Killin' It Girl' debuted on the Official Physical Singles chart this year. J-Hope has only sent two tracks to the list as a soloist throughout his career, and his entire charting discography appears on the roster at the moment. J-Hope's Former No. 1 Hit Between the two, 'Sweet Dreams' is the bigger hit. It's the only one that reached No. 1, as 'Killin' It Girl' stalled one space shy of leading the charge. 'Sweet Dreams' has also spent more than four times as many frames on the Official Physical Singles ranking as 'Killin' It Girl,' with 14 weeks compared to the three that the GloRilla collaboration has managed thus far. Both J-Hope Smashes Haven't Been Gone For Long 'Sweet Dreams' last appeared on the format-specific list on the chart dated July 24, when it reappeared at No. 80 and then fell away. 'Killin' It Girl,' meanwhile, opened at No. 2 on the chart dated June 26, then fell to No. 19 and vanished. 'LV Bag' and 'Mona Lisa' J-Hope has spent 2025 doling out single after single, and he has dropped four solo tracks this year. In addition to 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Killin' It Girl,' he was credited on 'LV Bag' alongside Don Toliver, Speedy, and Pharrell Williams, and he also delivered the tune 'Mona Lisa.' All four cuts are standalone singles at the moment, as they haven't been connected to a larger project. J-Hope last released his EP Hope on the Street Vol. 1 in the spring of 2024.
