Aamir Khan reveals he didn't shower for over a week for Ghulam, Raakh: If I had bathed every day, it would have ruined…

Actor Aamir Khan has revealed how he prepared for his roles in Ghulam and Raakh by not bathing for 12 days. Speaking with ABP Live, Aamir was asked if the rumour that he didn't take a bath for those days while shooting for the films was true. Aamir shared that he did it during the shooting for both films. The actor said, "I've done this not once, but twice. During the filming of Raakh, I didn't bathe because my character lives on the streets after leaving home. I wanted it to feel real, so I avoided bathing to look like someone who's actually ended up on the road."
Talking about his thoughts while filming Ghulam, Aamir added, "In Ghulam, there was a long action sequence in the climax where I get badly beaten up. Gradually, my injuries started increasing. If I had bathed every day after shooting, it would have ruined the continuity. So I decided not to bathe for a week to maintain the same look and feel for the scene. Because when you bathe the next day, you end up looking fresh—which I didn't want." About Ghulam, Raakh
Ghulam (1998) is an action film, directed by Vikram Bhatt. It also stars Rani Mukerji in the lead role. The film's storyline is similar to Sanjay Dutt's Kabzaa (1988).
Raakh (1989), an action crime, was directed by Aditya Bhattacharya. It also starred Supriya Pathak, Pankaj Kapur, Gajanan Bangera and Jagdeep. The film received much critical acclaim and also three National Film Awards. Aamir's next film
Fans will see Aamir next in Sitaare Zameen Par. Described as a "spiritual sequel" to the 2007-hit Taare Zameen Par, the film marks his return to the big screen after a long break. The upcoming film stars Genelia Deshmukh opposite Aamir. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. The screenplay is written by Divy Nidhi Sharma.
The film will introduce fresh faces -- Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. The movie is set to hit theatres on June 20.

Will Mahabharat be Aamir Khan's last film? Actor breaks silence on buzz around retirement

Actor Aamir Khan has quashed rumours about retiring from acting after Mahabharat, a project that he has been passionate about for years. The speculation arose from a podcast interview. Now, Aamir shared that his words were misinterpreted. Also read: Aamir Khan says he has only seen success when it comes to divorce: 'Shaadi me main kamyab nahi hua hun' Aamir set the record straight during the Fan Club segment on Zoom. The actor has clarified that he has no plans to step away from acting at this time. Aamir said, 'Mahabharat is not going to be my last film. Abhi chakkar yeh hain aap kuch bhi bolo, uska wrong meaning humesha nikal aata hai. Mujhse pucha gaya tha aap koi aisi film kare jiske baad aapko koi kaam karne ka mann hi na ho toh voh kaunsi film hogi. 'Agar' aap aisi film kare toh. Agar bohot important hai. (Mahabharat is not going to be my last film. The problem is that people misconstrue statements. I was asked if I had to make a film and happily hang my boots, which one would that be? That 'if' is very important),' Aamir said. The actor added, 'Material wise mujhe ek hi cheez nazar aati hai jismein voh power hai ki joh karne ke baad shayad mere mann mein yeh khyal uthe ki bas ho gaya. Maine uska jawab iss context mein diya tha. Logon ko laga Mahabharata meri last film hai. Answer ko theek se sunna chahiye. (Material-wise, I see it having the power to satisfy me as an artist and leave happily. I answered the question, and people thought Mahabharata was my last film. At least, listen to the answer carefully)'. Aamir spoke about his dream project, Mahabharat, in a recent conversation with Raj Shamani for his podcast, which sparked buzz around retirement. He said, 'It's my dream to make Mahabharat, and I will start working on it after the release of Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20. I feel like that's one project which, once I've done it, might leave me with the feeling that there's nothing more I can do after that. Because the material is like that — it's layered, emotional, vast in scale, and full of grandeur. Everything that exists in the world can be found in Mahabharat'. At the moment, Aamir is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par. In the film, he is set to play the role of a basketball coach who is forced to train a team of neurodivergent children for a tournament as a form of punishment. Directed by R.S. Prasanna, the film is a remake of the Spanish movie Campeones and features ten debutant actors: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. It is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 20.

Aamir Khan Says He Still Believes In Marriage: ‘I Could've Faked It With Kiran, But Didn't'

Last Updated: Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children - Ira and Junaid. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao, and the two co-parent their son Azad. Aamir Khan is currently promoting his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, but the actor recently got candid about his personal life in an interview with Zoom. The 59-year-old star reflected on his two divorces and his current relationship with Gauri Spratt. Speaking about the emotional toll of separation, Aamir said, 'In India, marriage is a very serious thing. When your marriage breaks, you go to divorce, and people don't like that. Emotionally, they don't like it either. I know that too, and I also believe that marriage is a very important thing and shouldn't be taken lightly. I completely agree with that. That's why I can present this matter truthfully in front of people, and I should. I do speak the truth that I was married to Reena, but we can no longer stay married, or I was married to Kiran, and now we can no longer stay married. So, it's a loss for all of us. Our families are not happy with this and we are also not doing it happily." Aamir further added that pretending to be in a happy marriage would have been dishonest. 'I can pretend that Kiran and I are happy together and we can live like that our whole lives and personally, I can do whatever I want, she can do whatever she wants, but in the eyes of the world, we are still married. We can live like that too, but that would be a lie." In a moment of lightheartedness, the actor added with a smile, 'Shaadi me main kamyab nahi hua hun, lekin divorce me main hua hoon (I wasn't successful in marriage, but I've been successful in divorce)." The actor also said that he still believes in the institution of marriage. 'It's a very old institution and I have the deepest regard in my heart for this institution. It's a very beautiful feeling. I would want that every person gets to experience this," he added. Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children – Ira and Junaid. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao, and the two co-parent their son Azad. In March this year, on his 60th birthday, Aamir made headlines by publicly introducing his girlfriend Gauri Spratt to the media in Mumbai. The couple has since made several appearances together. Aamir Khan BREAKS Silence On Retirement Rumours: ‘Mahabharata Won't Be My Last Film'

Last Updated: Aamir Khan had spoken passionately about Mahabharata, calling it layered, emotional, and vast in scale. Aamir Khan has finally addressed the swirling rumours that he might retire after making Mahabharata, a passion project he has spoken about for years. The speculation stemmed from a recent podcast appearance where his comments were misinterpreted, leading fans to believe that the magnum opus would mark the end of his acting career. Setting the record straight during the Fan Club segment on Zoom, Aamir said, 'Mahabharata is not going to be my last film. Abhi chakkar yeh hain aap kuch bhi bolo, uska wrong meaning humesha nikal aata hai." He explained that the original question posed to him was hypothetical about a film so fulfilling that he wouldn't feel like doing anything afterward. 'Material wise mujhe ek hi cheez nazar aati hai jismein voh power hai… Maine uska jawab iss context mein diya tha. Logon ko laga Mahabharata meri last film hai," he said. In his earlier chat with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, Aamir had spoken passionately about Mahabharata, calling it layered, emotional, and vast in scale. 'Har cheez jo duniya me hai woh aapko Mahabharat me milegi," he had said, reflecting his deep emotional investment in the project. He did admit that the film could give him a sense of creative closure, but nowhere did he confirm retiring. Before diving into Mahabharata, Aamir is gearing up for the release of his next film, Sitaare Zameen Par, directed by RS Prasanna. The film, also starring Genelia Deshmukh, is set to hit theatres on June 20. First Published: June 12, 2025, 00:36 IST
