Jaya Bhattacharya Claims She Was ‘Most Underpaid Actress' On 'Kyunki...': ‘Never Got A Raise'
Jaya Bhattacharya is one of the most sought-after actresses in the television industry and has worked in several popular shows, one of them being Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. As Kyunki is all set to make a comeback with a fresh season, while many actors will be reviving their roles, there has been no confirmation of Jaya returning as Payal Parikh. Now, the actress has opened up and shared a rather distressing experience.
In an interview with podcast host Siddharth Kannan, the actress talked about working on the show for 7 years but still being one of the most underpaid actresses. She revealed that while other actors drew hefty amounts, she worked for 7 years with only one appraisal during that time.
The actress shared, 'I was the most underpaid actor. I never got a raise."
'Only once I asked for a raise, and while everyone got a raise of 2 thousand rupees, I got only 1 thousand. That hit my ego, so I didn't ask for it ever again and hence didn't get a raise for a straight 7 years," she further added.
Speaking of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, the show is set to premiere on July 29 on Star Plus. The much-anticipated show will mark the return of Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay as the iconic Tulsi and Mihir Virani. The new chapter will also feature actors including Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Shakti Anand, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Shagun Sharma, Rohit Suchanti, Aman Gandhi, Ankit Bhatia, and Tanisha Mehta.
Recently, Smriti talked about returning to television as Tulsi when she told IANS, 'Years later, life comes full circle—not to recreate the past, but to rekindle an emotion that never truly faded.
