220 Felda entrepreneurs join mega 3D carnival in Kuala Lumpur
Felda director of community economic development, Datuk Muhammad Rizal Abdul Rahim, stated that the carnival aims to provide entrepreneurs with opportunities to expand their market reach. 'We see strong market potential for Felda entrepreneurs' products not only within their schemes but globally as well.'
He added that the event allows direct engagement with potential buyers, which could lead to bulk orders. 'Through this carnival, entrepreneurs can showcase their products directly to visitors. This could open the door for future bulk orders, which is the outcome we are targeting.'
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi recently announced MK3D as a strategic initiative combining rural entrepreneurship programmes under one platform.
'It brings together three flagship initiatives—KKDW's Rural Entrepreneurs Carnival, Felda Settlers' Day, and KUSKOP's One District One Industry Showcase—as a strategic approach to rural development.'
Muhammad Rizal highlighted Felda's digital push, stating, 'We now have avenues to market our products through our own channels, including websites and TikTok, to support our entrepreneurs.'
Collaboration with the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) will further enhance digitalisation efforts. - Bernama

BUSINESS KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's palm oil exports to the United States (US) increased by 51.8 per cent to 93,000 metric tonnes from January to May 2025, compared to 61,000 metric tonnes during the same period last year. The Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK) said that 65 per cent of the nation's palm oil exports to the US in 2024 were certified sustainable products used in high-value goods, while another 19 per cent consisted of palm stearin, a key ingredient in the food and personal care industries. Although the US is not Malaysia's main export market for palm oil, the ministry emphasised that the government is paying attention to the 25 per cent tariff imposed by the US on Malaysian goods, which takes effect on Aug 1, 2025, to ensure that the country's market position is not adversely affected. 'The ministry is always vigilant and proactive in monitoring developments in international trade policies to safeguard the country's palm oil exports,' KPK said in a written response posted on the Parliament's website today. KPK was responding to Datuk Siti Aminah Aching (BN-Beaufort), who inquired about the impact of the 25 per cent tariff imposed by the US on Malaysia, its effect on global demand for Malaysian palm oil, and the ministry's efforts to mitigate any negative consequences on exports. The ministry highlighted that together with the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), it is continuing to engage in ongoing negotiations with the US to ensure fair, open, and mutually beneficial trade relations. It added that various integrated initiatives are underway to ensure that Malaysia's palm oil exports remain unaffected and sustainable. 'These include promoting the transformation of the palm oil sector toward high-technology downstream products such as oleochemicals, processed food ingredients, and biofuels,' it said. KPK said it is strengthening efforts to implement the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) 2.0 certification to ensure Malaysian palm oil meets international standards, particularly in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects.

Felda Launches Mobile App To Drive Digital Transformation, Strengthen Governance
KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 (Bernama) -- The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) today launched its new mobile app, MyFelda, in a strategic collaboration with its subsidiary FGV Prodata Systems Bhd, to accelerate the agency's digital transformation and enhance governance, transparency, and inclusivity within the settler community. FGV Prodata chief executive officer Shamsuri Jasri Abdul Rahman said the app goes beyond being just an information platform; it is also a key driver in modernising and digitising the entire Felda ecosystem. 'MyFelda is designed based on the principle of 'Role-Based Access', ensuring that each user group, be it settlers, staff, or vendors, receives customised, organised and secure access tailored to their specific needs,' he said at the launch. The app is also integrated with the Smart Plantation Management System (SPMS), which leverages technologies such as drones, geographic information systems and artificial intelligence to strengthen oil palm estate management. 'Through SPMS, we can collect accurate field data to analyse plant health, identify vacant or affected areas, plan targeted fertilisation and disease control activities, as well as improve overall operational efficiency,' he said. Felda chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek officiated the launch of the MyFelda mobile app at an event attended by Felda's senior management, settler representatives and strategic technology partners. Meanwhile, Felda's director of Administration and Information Technology, Afzal Hanis Hamid Abd, said the app was developed to provide settlers with reliable, up-to-date information at their fingertips. 'With this app, settlers no longer need to visit the office to obtain income statements or account details. Everything from plantation information and financial statements to loan records and current yield data is now easily accessible through their phones,' he told Bernama. Afzal Hanis added that one of the app's key strengths is its 'single source of truth' approach, where all information is consolidated from Felda's official systems to eliminate discrepancies and ensure data integrity.

KK waste to be converted into renewable energy
The Kayu Madang landfill near the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park in Telipok. KOTA KINABALU (July 30): A biogas energy facility will be built at the Kayu Madang landfill near the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park in Telipok to convert methane gas from solid waste into green electricity. Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Petco Trading Labuan Company Ltd to develop the facility. Under the agreement, Petco Trading Labuan Company Ltd will construct a biogas energy complex at the landfill, converting methane emissions from solid waste into energy. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor witnessed the signing ceremony. 'This clean energy will directly benefit the manufacturing sector at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP). It is a prime example of circular economy in action, where waste from one sector becomes a resource for another,' Hajiji explained. He said both initiatives align with Sabah's Blue Economy agenda, which emphasises sustainable development, value-added fisheries and a shift towards clean energy. 'The success in attracting these investments reflects investor confidence in Sabah's economic prospects. I believe strong collaboration between DBKK, the private sector and the State Government will accelerate economic growth and generate more job opportunities for the people,' he said. Hajiji also extended his appreciation to DBKK for its ongoing efforts in driving city development and thanked both companies for choosing Sabah as their strategic investment destination. According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the population of Kota Kinabalu was estimated to exceed 600,000 in 2023, with an annual growth rate of about 2.5 per cent. Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah said this growth has wide-ranging implications for energy demand, solid waste management, and the need for a highly skilled workforce. 'A planned, forward-looking development strategy grounded in sustainability is therefore essential. 'The biogas initiative at Kayu Madang is timely. It offers a solution to the growing solid waste problem — which exceeds 850 tonnes daily in the West Coast area — while also serving as a catalyst for renewable energy generation, with a projected capacity of up to 2 Megawatts,' he said at the ceremony. Sabin added that the two Megawatts of electricity produced would be sufficient to power some 2,000 homes or several light industrial zones. 'This initiative aligns with the Kota Kinabalu City Strategic Plan 2025–2035 and the aspirations of the Kota Kinabalu Low Carbon City Action Plan. 'It also supports Target Three of DBKK's Low Carbon City Plan, which aims to reduce the city's carbon emissions by 45 per cent by 2030, in line with Malaysia's commitments under the 2015 Paris Agreement. 'This project holds strategic value not just for the city, but also strengthens Sabah's broader ambitions towards green development and a circular economy,' he said. Also present at the ceremony was Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Abidin Madingkir.
