With the 2025 edition set to commence on June 13, here's a look at some of the best performances in the MLC till date.
Steve Smith (2024 final)
: The Washington Freedom skipper played a huge role in his side clinching their first MLC title in 2024. The Australian finished the 2024 campaign with the second-most runs and joint-most for the franchise (336 runs). In the final against San Francisco Unicorns, Smith was adjudged Player of the Match for his crucial 52-ball 88, despite being pitted against the likes of Pat Cummins and Haris Rauf.
Saurabh Netravalkar's 6/9 vs San Francisco Unicorns (2023) :
Netravalkar's spell of six wickets against San Francisco Unicorns in the inaugural edition of the MLC remains the best bowling figures in the competition. His inimitable spell for Washington Freedom also helped him clinch third spot in the list of highest wicket-takers in the 2023 edition. In the 2024 campaign, Netravalkar shone brilliantly with the ball. He took 15 wickets last year, beating the second-highest wicket-taker Rachin Ravindra by 3 scalps.
Muhammad Mohsin's 4/14 vs San Francisco Unicorns (2024) :
The Texas Super Kings all-rounder made headlines with a sensational spell in July 2024. The Pakistani cricketer's immaculate spell against the San Francisco Unicorns remains his best in the competition. The 29-year-old claimed 4 SFU wickets, while conceding just 13 runs in the process. Mohsin also maintained his economy rate at an impressive 3.39.
Faf du Plessis's 72 off 47 balls for Texas Super Kings eliminates title holders MI NY (2024) :
Even though TSK failed to make it to the final of the MLC in the 2023 and 2024 editions, star man and skipper Faf du Plessis led the way in runs for his side and topped the charts as well. His 420 from 8 innings had some memorable performances along the way. Notably, the South African made a brilliant 72 off 47 balls for TSK in the 2024 Eliminator to knock out reigning champions MI New York.
Nicholas Pooran's 137* for MI New York vs Seattle Orcas :
The West Indian batsman topped the run-scoring charts in the MLC 2023 season. As MI NY won the MLC title in the first season, Pooran set a record that is yet to be broken. His score of 137 not out against the Seattle Orcas remains till date, the highest score by a batter in MLC. Incidentally, the player saved his very best for last, as the knock came in the final - a perfect stage to shine. Chasing a target of 184, the left-handed batter made easy work of the target, helping MI chase things down with four overs and 7 wickets to spare.
With the 2025 season approaching, fans can expect more fierce match-ups, increased firepower and planning from all six sides. The first game of the season features the San Francisco Unicorns taking on 2024 champions Washington Freedom on June 12.

Why Josh Hazlewood choose IPL 2025 over WTC final preparations? RCB's Aussie pacer explains after reaching final
At a time when Mitchell Starc decided not to return to the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) following the one-week pause due India-Pakistan conflict and prepare for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Josh Hazlewood stated the intensity in the world's toughest franchise league will come in handy in preparation against South Africa at Lord's. Both Starc and Hazlewood are a part of the Australian team for the WTC final against the Proteas, starting on June 11. Having missed a few games for RCB in IPL 2025, following a shoulder niggle, Hazlewood delivered when it mattered and played a huge part in RCB's road to IPL 2025 final with 3/21 against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1. RCB, who entered an IPL final after nine years, will play either Mumbai Indians, or Punjab Kings or Gujarat Titans in the final on June 3. With no signs of rust, Hazlewood's show against Punjab Kings was a tick mark ahead of their all-important WTC final. 'I've got to be bowling, you know wherever I am in the world, I've got to be bowling getting ready for that game (WTC final) anyway,' Hazlewood said. In fact, it was the Australian's first IPL game after April 27. 'There's no better place than I think out in the middle, obviously you've got to bowl more, more hours of training from time to time to build up for a Test, but to get that intensity right up, there's no better place than the IPL,' asserted the RCB pacer. Despite missing some of the games in IPL 2025, Hazlewood has taken 21 wickets in 11 games so far. As a result, the Australian moved up to the third place in the list of Purple Cap. The Australian pacer will next be seen in RCB's IPL 2025 final on June 3 either against Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings. While Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans will play in Eliminator on Friday (May 30), Punjab Kings will face the winner of Eliminator for a place in the summit clash. IPL 2025 Playoffs: Five things to watch out for in GT vs MI Eliminator clash
Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians play the Eliminator in New Chandigarh tonight (May 30). The winner of the match will play Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 on Sunday, June 1. RCB defeated PBKS by 8 wickets in yesterday's qualifier 1 match at the same venue. Here are the key things to look out for in the do-or-die encounter. Hardik Pandya was the heart and soul of the Gujarat Titans in 2022 and 2023. The all-rounder from Baroda led the side to glory in its inaugural season. Gujarat Titans were two balls away from retaining the title against Chennai Super Kings in 2023. Hardik returned to his former side, Mumbai Indians, in 2024 and has managed to get at least one win as a captain against all teams except one. Hardik Pandya lost all three matches as the captain of Mumbai Indians against Gujarat Titans. Can Hardik Pandya get off the mark? Note: Mumbai Indians are yet to win a match against the other three teams featuring in the IPL 2025 playoffs. Josh Hazlewood was the standout performer in RCB's thumping win against PBKS in New Chandigarh last night. One bowler from Gujarat Titans would have gotten encouraged by the amount of bounce the pitch offered for Hazlewood. Prasidh Krishna is similar to the Australian in many ways. They are tall, have the ability to hit the good length areas on a consistent basis, and they both operate as the one-change bowlers. His battle against Suryakumar Yadav is going to be a fascinating one. Mumbai Indians' superstar Jasprit Bumrah, on the other hand, doesn't need any assistance from the pitch. He went for an economy of 5.75 in his four overs against Punjab Kings on Monday. The next best economy for MI that night was 9.33. The presence of powerplay specialists Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar meant that Bumrah was being used as the first-change bowler. One may expect Hardik Pandya to use Bumrah with the new ball against the two leading run-scorers of the tournament, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill. Audacious, flamboyant, and outrageous are some of the adjectives used to describe Suryakumar Yadav's batting. The Indian T20 captain added a new word to the dictionary: consistency. 14 matches, 14 consecutive scores in excess of 25—Mumbai Indians should be hoping that the law of averages is a fallacious concept. The departure of England's Will Jacks and South Africa's Ryan Rickelton, the two consistent performers with the bat, has weakened the batting lineup, and Suryakumar's performance is even more important for the five-time champions. Three batters from the same team scoring more than 500 runs in an Indian Premier League season has never happened in the previous 17 seasons. The Gujarat Titans trio of Sai Sudharsan (679 runs), Shubman Gill (649 runs), and Jos Buttler (538 runs) rewrote the history books. There comes the problem. Jos Buttler isn't available for the playoffs. The Englishman scored 37 off 32 balls in the first ODI against the West Indies last night (May 29). The terrific trio has been curtailed into a dynamic duo. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are having a historic week, albeit with the national side. The former has been elevated to the Test captaincy, while the latter got his maiden call-up to the Test team. Can the two talented youngsters rise to the occasion and deliver for the Titans? Rohit Sharma is the joint-most successful player in IPL history. Rohit and Ambati Rayudu are the only two players to win 6 IPL titles. The legacy of Rohit, the captain, is not for debate. It was sealed four years ago. However, Rohit has a questionable record with the bat in the playoffs. Innings Runs Average Strike Rate 50s Single-digit scores 21 316 15.8 109 2 9

‘Family is more important than my career': Jasprit Bumrah opens up about fitness, his body and workload management
India ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah opened up about his much-discussed workload management, family and much more in a recent conversation with former Australian cricketer Michael Clarke. Speaking on Clarke's podcast named Beyond 23, Bumrah said his family is more important than his career. 'For me, family is more important than my career because you know that is constant. There are two things that I take seriously. One is my family, and one is my game, but family comes first,' said Bumrah. 'I have to give priority, and I do give priority because I will not be a cricketer all the time. For them, I'm not a cricketer. I'm a human being, and you know, being a young father, seeing my son, you know, he started picking up the ball and started playing with the ball, which is not advisable at this moment,' he added. With Shubman Gill taking over the captaincy reins from Rohit Sharma after his retirement, Team India is looking at a new era starting from the England tour. Bumrah was in reckoning for the Test leadership, but since he is unlikely to feature in all five Tests, looking at his workload management, the selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, decided to go with Gill instead. Speaking on his fitness and his body, Bumrah said: 'Obviously, it is tough for any individual to keep playing everything for so long. I've been doing it for a while, but eventually you have to understand where your body is going, what is the important tournament. 'You have to be a little selective and smart about how you use your body. As a cricketer, I would never want to leave anything and always keep on going. But I don't set goals or look at numbers. whenever I have (set goals), I've never been able to fulfil them,' he added. 'I just try and enjoy because that's why I started this sport. Take one day at a time and collect memories because, at the end of the sport, that's all I'll remember,' added Bumrah.
