Where did the New Orleans Saints go to fill our their 20-man rookie class? Between nine players selected in the 2025 NFL draft and eleven more signed afterwards as rookie free agents, the Saints searched high and low for options to make their team better. Here are some quick takeaways from the group now that we've had a few days to get to know them better.
Three schools sent multiple players to New Orleans:
OL Kelvin Banks Jr. and DT Vernon Broughton (Texas)
QB Tyler Shough and CB Quincy Riley (Louisville)
S Jonas Sanker and WR Chris Tyree (Virginia)
Additionally, seven players came from teams in the ACC (Louisville, SMU, Syracuse, and Virginia), with six more hailing from the SEC (Alabama, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas). Two each came to New Orleans from the Big Ten (Rutgers and UCLA), the Big 12 (Kansas and Kansas State), and FCS teams in Delaware and South Dakota State. One rookie, safety Elliott Davison, comes to the Saints from UTSA in the AAC.
And out of all 20 players, just two of them competed in last year's College Football Playoff: Banks and Broughton, with the Texas Longhorns. It's an interesting mix of talent, but the Saints have to be hoping that this unique rookie crop gives them the best chance of winning games and getting back to the playoffs in 2025.

T7 - LSU 16, West Virginia 5 LSU has its second grand slam of the day, this one from Josh Pearson, and this game is officially out of hand. It looked for a minute like the Mountaineers were going to try to mount a rally. The Tigers, however, put an end to that. B5 - Auburn 1, Coastal Carolina Down a game in the series after losing in extra innings last night, the Tigers are clinging to a one-run lead. Clinging indeed. The Chanticleers loaded the bases with no outs in the fifth but couldn't get any runners home. Tennessee is the No. 14 overall seed but is clearly one of the most talented teams in the nation. The Vols have been undone this year by poor defense at times and the inability to find the right pitching combination in Game 3s of their weekend series — they lost the third game in six of their final seven SEC series. Arkansas' roster is elite, with great starting pitching, tons of options in the bullpen and an offense that led the SEC in runs scored (by 41!) in league games. We won't get the Liam Doyle vs. Zach Root pitching matchup in Game 1 since the Vols are giving their ace an extra day of rest, but No. 2 starter Marcus Phillips is very capable of slowing down the Hogs offense. One prediction I feel good about: There will be some fireworks at some point in this series. Steven Milam's grand slam has Alex Box Stadium ROCKING. Drama in Chapel Hill. Arizona forces a Game 3 by defeating North Carolina 10-8 in Game 2 of the Chapel Hill Regional. The Wildcats surged ahead with four runs in the bottom of the seventh and then held on when ace reliever Tony Pluta — who threw a career-high 52 pitches — worked around a leadoff single in the top of the ninth to retire the next three Tar Heels. The two teams will play Game 3 tomorrow with the game time yet to be determined. What a turnaround from yesterday's 10-8 whitewash. Louisville and Miami are also headed for a Game 3. T5 - LSU 3, West Virginia 1 The Tigers finally get their offense going with a three-run home run by Derek Curiel. LSU's offense has been spotty all season, but the Tigers needed that one to get some life into their stadium. B6 - Duke 6, Murray State 2 Kyle Johnson does it again with a double in the sixth to score another run. Johnson has two doubles and a home run in three at-bats, and he has driven in five runs. What a day for a player who is only in the lineup because of a suspension. He really has stepped up today for Duke. Imagn Images B7 - Arizona 10, North Carolina 8 The Wildcats have answered the Tar Heels' four runs in the top of the seventh with four of their own in the bottom of the seventh, and the Wildcats are six outs from a Game 3 tomorrow. Will the Heels respond again? This game is bonkers. The Chanticleers will book their trip to Omaha with a win after beating the Tigers in extra innings in Game 1 after a nearly two-hour weather delay.
