Saints Play of the Day: Devery Henderson's 30-yard game winner
It was Week 11, Nov. 27, just a couple of months after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans. Understandably, it was a rough year for the football team. There weren't many things to cheer for, but this was an exceptional game of football and one that left Saints fans something to smile about.
The Jets had the same record as New Orleans heading into the game, 2-8. While neither team was lighting the league on fire, they were evenly matched. It was a back-and-forth game the entire way, full of fun plays. It included a 21-yard touchdown by Donte' Stallworth, a 15-yard score by Zachary Hilton, a 27-yard touchdown by New York, two 40+ field goals and the 30-yard game winner from Henderson.
Brooks was 17-of-23 on the day with 181 yards and three touchdowns. Joe Horn had four catches for 47 yards and Stallworth had five catches for 48 yards and a score. Until he scored his touchdown, Henderson was left without a catch. Will Smith picked up a sack while Sedrick Hodge and Josh Bullocks had 10 tackles each.
Back-to-back scores from the Jets had the Saints down 19-14 in the final quarter. That's when Brooks found Henderson over the top of the defense for a 30-yard score, which put New Orleans ahead with under nine minutes to go and was the final score of the game.
This was the last win that the Saints picked up before the Drew Brees and Sean Payton era began in 2006. A loss in this game could have possibly put New Orleans in the mix for the first overall pick, but they ended up grabbing Reggie Bush with the second pick, and the rest is history.

National reactions: New York Jets QB Justin Fields impresses in debut vs. the Packers
The New York Jets topped the Green Bay Packers, 30-10, in their first preseason contest of the 2025 NFL season. The outing featured the starting offense, including quarterback Justin Fields, getting in reps. The unit only stayed in for one drive but made it count. That sequence was capped by a Fields rushing touchdown. The QB was overall impressive, too. That drew some positive attention. 5 standouts from Packers' preseason loss to the Jets
The Green Bay Packers fell to the New York Jets 30-10 to begin the 2025 preseason. Green Bay played its starters for two series with little to show for it. Jordan Love completed just one pass on five attempts while the starting defense surrendered a touchdown to New York on its opening drive. Overall, it was a rough night for the Packers with few positive takeaways. The offense struggled to move the ball consistently thanks to a ton of dropped passes and self-inflicted penalties. Meanwhile, the defense struggled to make enough tackles to get off the field. Fortunately, it's just the preseason, where you're more concerned about evaluating players than the end result. Let's hope next week's game against the Indianapolis Colts is an easier watch, but before we look ahead, let's highlight the standouts from Saturday's matchup with the Jets. LB Kristian Welch Currently in his second stint in Green Bay, Welch is off to a promising start in his pursuit of making this year's team. He made two tackles on punt coverage and then carried it over to defense with a big-time tackle for loss on 4th-and-1 inside Packers territory to help get the defense off the field during the second quarter. It was a productive night for Welch, who finished the day with a game-high nine total tackles. After appearing in 14 games for Green Bay two seasons ago, Welch did not make last year's team despite having a solid preseason. He faces an uphill battle again in a crowded linebacker room, but he showed out on Saturday. Edge Kingsley Enagbare Enagbare enjoyed an active first half against the Jets. The former fifth-round pick helped Welch on the fourth-down stuff, had multiple run stops, and had a pressure that resulted in an incompletion. The Packers are counting on Enagbare to be productive in the final year of his rookie deal, and Saturday was a good start with five total tackles, one TFL, and a QB hit. Edge Barryn Sorrell The fourth-rounder out of Texas had a nice sequence during the second quarter. On first down, he beat the left tackle cleanly on a pass rush and then did it again on third down to generate pressure and a QB hit. Coming off a year where the four-man rush was inconsistent at best, the Packers did not sign any pass rushers during the offseason, making Sorrell their biggest investment as an early Day 3 pick. Hopefully, he can continue to contribute in a meaningful way as a rookie. DT Colby Wooden Wooden also played a major role in the fourth-down stop by getting good penetration. He went on to make a lot more plays as a run defender, finishing with six total tackles. Wooden also batted a pass at the line of scrimmage during the third quarter to cap off an impressive performance. Wooden is not a roster lock despite being a former third-round pick, but he definitely helped himself against the Jets. RB Amar Johnson It was a dreary night for the Packers' offense up until Johnson's 39-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Johnson burst through the line, breaking two tackles before redirecting his run to find the end zone. The lone bright spot for Green Bay's offense, the undrafted rookie out of South Dakota State led all ball carriers with 67 yards on seven carries for an impressive 9.6 average. Johnson is a long shot to make the team, but he could be a practice squad candidate. This article originally appeared on Packers Wire: 5 standouts from Packers' preseason loss to the Jets
