Sunday's briefing: England Under-21s progress and Nuno extends Forest stay
Nuno Espirito Santo signed a new three-year deal as Nottingham Forest manager, and it was a red letter day for Borussia Dortmund new boy Jobe Bellingham at the Club World Cup.
What a win. What a performance.

Holders England booked their place in the European Under-21 Championship semi-finals with a 3-1 victory over Spain.
The Young Lions, who next face the Netherlands after they beat Portugal with 10 men, progressed after early strikes from James McAtee and Harvey Elliott.
Spain responded with a penalty from Javi Guerra before the break.
But Elliot Anderson's late spot-kick secured a memorable victory for Lee Carsley's side in what was a repeat of the 2023 final.
The journey continues.

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo will remain at the City Ground until at least 2008.
The 51-year-old Portuguese, who guided Forest to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, has signed a new three-year contract.
Forest will be playing European football for the first time since the 1995-96 season in the Conference League.
Nuno said: 'I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club.
'I would like to thank our owner, Mr (Evangelos) Marinakis, for his constant support and backing. It is important to me to share a strong relationship with our ownership and we have thoroughly enjoyed working together ever since I arrived at Forest.'
Jobe Bellingham scored his first Borussia Dortmund goal in a 4-3 Club World Cup win over Mamelodi Sundowns in Cincinnati.
Bellingham struck on the stroke of half-time after cushioning the ball on his chest, with his volley benefiting from a slight deflection.
Dortmund have four points from two Group G games after drawing 0-0 with Fluminense in their opening match.
Inter Milan kept alive their hopes of making the last 16 with a late 2-1 comeback victory over Urawa Red Diamonds in Seattle.
Lautaro Martinez equalised after 78 minutes with a brilliant overhead kick and Valentin Carboni's sidefoot finish in stoppage time gave Cristian Chivu his first win as Inter boss.
Beth Mead has urged England to use pressure as fuel for their European title defence.
The Lionesses squad travelling to Switzerland this summer is very different from the one that lifted the trophy on home soil at Euro 2022.
Seven members of Sarina Wiegman's group have never played in a major tournament and England will be defending a major title for the first time.
Arsenal forward Mead said: 'There's a little bit of pressure that comes with it but I think it's a free adrenaline injection, pump it into your veins.
'We've been there, we've done it, we need to bottle that energy up and (bring) what we brought last time.'

Celtic break nine year transfer rule for Benjamin Nygren as signing mega bargain changes everything
The Parkhead side are closing in on the signing of the Swedish forward The very nature of Celtic's globe-trotting transfer approach means that no stone is left unturned in the quest for transfer gems. Uncovering signing diamonds leads to far-flung scouting missions with multiple signings made in Asia, Australia and some of the less fashionable outposts of European football. Celtic's high and low approach would take them to Timbuktu if they felt it would be value for money. But one league which had been off the menu for over nine years was the Danish now. Last season's double winners are putting the finishing touches to a £1.7 million deal for winger Benjamin Nygren from Nordsjaelland. And he will be the first signing from the Danish Superliga since Erik Sviatchenko arrived from FC Midtjylland in January 2016. Celtic have signed a Dane since Sviatchenko, of course, in the form gems Matt O'Riley and Kasper Schemichel plus the lesser-spotted misfit loanee Oliver Abildgaard who was a rare misstep during the Ange Postecoglou era. But Nygren represents the first direct signing from the Danish Superliga since Sviatchenko nine years ago, the defender spending a two-and-a-half years at the club before returning to FC Midtjylland. And prior to that it was Morten Rasmussen who was signed from Brondby six years earlier under Tony Mowbray but, like the manager who signed him, it was an underwhelming spell in Glasgow. In fact, at £1.5m the striker cost £500,000 per goal before he too returned to Denmark, ironically joining Sviatchenko at FC Midtjylland where they were team-mates. Given the fact Sviatchenko wasn't a huge hit at Parkhead, it could be that Celtic have been wary to dip into the Danish league. But they have clearly still kept their eye on it with Mathias Kvistgaarden earning many an admiring glance from Celtic and others but it's an alternative option with positional versatility who is destined for Parkhead. And Nygren, certainly on evidence and the view of experts, looks the real deal and could prove a shrewd acquisition for Brendan Rodgers. England star pays tribute to Young Lions after Euro U21 clash ends in chaos
England Under-21s defence of their European title continued with a 3-1 quarter-final win over pre-tournament favourites Spain, to book a final four showdown with Netherlands Harvey Elliott paid tribute to England's fighting spirit after reaching the semi-finals of the U21 European Championships. There were fiery scenes at the full-time whistle as players from both sets of teams came head-to-head after England ran out 3-1 winners to book a tie with the Netherlands in the final four. The Liverpool attacker, who netted the second for the Young Lions, said of his side's performance: "Incredible, I'm lost for words I think. I said at the start of the game it's going to be very tough, I knew they'd play an incredible game against us. "I thought the lads handled it and handled the pressure, we conceded a goal and were determined to keep on going and keep on fighting. We deserve it so much. It's kind of time to celebrate it but we need to think about the semis now and go again." It boiled over Trnava, Slovakia as Spain's anger didn't mix well with England's celebrations. Coaches from both teams had to split the players up, with the match officials also getting involved. Spain's Rafa Marin was sent off following the full-time whistle, while England goalscorer James McAtee picked up a booking. But Elliott has revealed he tried to diffuse the situation in fear England were at risk of getting players sent off and suspended for their semi-final against Holland. He added: "I don't know [what caused it], it's always going to happen due to the passion of both teams. I was trying to calm everyone down, we have everything to lose and they don't but we have to focus now and not get too carried away. "We can't lose players for the semi-final." Elliott also noted the vast improvement from England as they scored three goals to eliminate the tournament favourites. He continued: "There was a major difference from start to finish. We were compact as a team and fought together, we didn't give up and we trusted in our own ability. "The football was just incredible, we need to take a lot of things from this game. We have to take it game by game, we can't be thinking too far ahead. "We need to recover as it's going to be another tough game. Who knows if we can defend it." Young Lions boss Carsley said of his defending champions: "The big thing is this can't be our final, this can't be the highlight of our tournament. There are better nights to come and it's good now we've got an extra day recovery so I'm looking forward to the next game now. "We talked about making a fast start and we obviously gave away a penalty inside the opening two minutes but the lads showed a lot of character, I thought we were so good in the first half."There were some really outstanding performances and they should be proud of themselves."
