Bhopal: The BJP state unit has ordered 15,000 sindoori red sarees for the team that will welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Lokmata Ahilyabai Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan at the Jambooree Maidan on Saturday.
The ruling party stated that Saturday's Maha Sammelan will be the first entirely women-oriented and organised function following the success of Operation Sindoor. From welcoming the PM at the venue to organising the function and police security, everything will be managed by women. Very few men, including those in police security, will be seen at the Jambooree Maidan venue on Saturday morning.
Over two lakh women self-help group members, beneficiaries of the Ladli Behna scheme, and women BJP workers from across the state will gather at the venue to listen to Modi's address.
After the embarrassing remark by tribal affairs minister Vijay Shah on Col Sofiya Qureshi, the party decided to feature her image along with Wing Commander Vyomika Singh's at the Maha Sammelan. Both women officers of the armed forces are already mascots at the state BJP office. Posters of Col Qureshi and Wing Commander Singh are displayed at the state BJP office, and now cut-outs of the two will adorn the venue or even the dais at Jambooree Maidan.
CM Mohan Yadav, BJP state chief VD Sharma, BJP state unit in-charge Mahendra Singh, and the state party organisational general secretary will be on the podium with Modi. The rest of the podium will be occupied by women ministers, MPs, and MLAs of the state. All women people's representatives have been asked to come to Bhopal for the function, which is being held to observe the 300th birth anniversary of the 18th-century queen Ahilyabai Holkar.
BJP state chief Sharma said, "We are fortunate that
PM Narendra Modi
is coming when we are celebrating the 300th birth anniversary of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar with over 2 lakh women self-help group workers. The party organisation is wholeheartedly working for the success of the function of the Mohan Yadav govt. We are ensuring that every woman worker of the party, right from the grassroots, gets to participate and support the govt function.
It will be a historic programme."
He further added that after Operation Sindoor, this would be the first
women empowerment
function to be addressed by the PM. On Tuesday, the state BJP called a meeting of its women functionaries at the party office. Over 2,000 women, led by cabinet minister Krishna Gaur and Bhopal mayor Malti Rai, attended the meeting and discussed the line-up for the women empowerment Maha Sammelan.
Speaking to TOI, BJP state spokesman Ajay Singh Yadav said, "This is an exclusive function for women and their empowerment after Operation Sindoor. The state unit is honoured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the function on the 300th birth anniversary of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar, who was known for her able administrative competence. Lakhs of women from across the state will join the function to show their strength, and the women leadership of the state has been given the responsibility to organise the event.

S Jaishankar's stern message: Those who ‘sponsor, nurture, utilise' terrorism should be made to pay heavy price

External Affairs minister S Jaishankar hit out at Pakistan, asserting that India will never give in to nuclear blackmail, and those who "sponsor, nurture and utilise" terrorism should be made to pay a heavy price. While speaking at the Convocation Ceremony of Foreign National Students at Parul University, he said, 'We will never give in to nuclear blackmail. Whatever decisions have to be taken in India's national interests are taken and will continue to be taken.' He mentioned, 'Recently, we saw an attempt to devastate the tourism economy of Jammu and Kashmir, and an evil desire to sow the seeds of religious discord. The barbarity of the killings required an exemplary response, which was delivered... It is imperative that those who sponsor, nurture, and utilise terrorism for their ends are made to pay a high cost. That it warranted a forceful response, even after the 26/11 attack in Mumbai in 2008, is widely acknowledged." "But times have changed, and our resolve is much stronger now. Terrorism epicentres are no longer immune. India's zero tolerance for terrorism has been manifested today through its actions..." he added. According to PTI, he said it was 'heartening to witness the understanding from other nations of our right to defend ourselves against terrorism' as India responded to Pahalgam terrorist attack. His comments came in the wake of Operation Sindoor that India launched on May 7 in Pakistan and PoJK at 9 terror bases. 'In the international community of almost 200 nations, we do have national interest and naturally seek to advance them, but this is ought to be done with mutual understanding and mutual benefit as guiding principles. It has become a fashion in some quarters to be openly transactional when it comes to dealing with other nations. Bear in mind that some are actually practicing it in reality while preaching the opposite,' PTI quoted him as saying. In some societies, sentiments and values hold great importance and 'India belongs to that category', he continued. The minister further stated, "We have kept in mind our larger obligation to the world and international community. Our resources may be limited but India has a large heart. While the colonial era may be behind us, new forms of domination have emerged, misusing the opening provided by globalization, they profess to judge us all and pronounce on our credentials. One example is ill-conceived interference in the politics of nations of the global south. India is a "rare civilisational state" that is now reasserting its rightful position among the nations of the world, he said. (With inputs from ANI and PTI)

Delhi's BJP govt completes 100 days, releases ‘workbook'; CM Rekha Gupta takes dig at ‘meva khane wali sarkar'

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Delhi government completed its first 100 days of governance in the national capital on Saturday, May 31. On the occasion, the Delhi government released a 'workbook', highlighting important public welfare initiatives launched so far under Rekha Gupta's chief ministership. "On the completion of 100 days of service of the BJP government in Delhi, a workbook was released, which includes details of the major achievements so far and future plans," Delhi CM Rekha Gupta posted on X. She said, "Important steps like the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Yamuna cleaning campaign and Mahila Samridhi Yojana are a reflection of these 100 days of service." Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi's Chief Minister on February 20, 2025. The BJP formed the government in the national capital after 27 years by winning 48 seats in the Delhi Assembly elections, pushing the the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) into the opposition with 22 seats. The Congress failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive time. The Delhi government's workbook titled "Kam karne wali Sarkar-100 din seva ke" was released by CM Rekha Gupta along with her cabinet ministers Ashish Sood and Kapil Mishra. The book highlighted the government's key initiatives across the health, education, infrastructure and welfare sectors. These include budget allocation for implementing the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, a ₹ 51,000 crore provision for the Mahila Samman Yojana, a monthly assistance scheme for poor women. The workbook highlighted measures such as the Yamuna cleaning plan, street lights, Vay Vandana Yojana, setting up Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, and flagging DEVI buses. 'Meva khane wali sarkar' & 'seva karne wali sarkar' On completing 100 days of the Delhi government, CM Rekha Gupta said, "We are very happy and satisfied that the rights the people of Delhi deserve are being delivered with full dedication by the government. And surely, as Viksit Bharat progresses, Viksit Delhi will also progress and witness significant development." In a video posted on X, Rekha Gupta slammed the AAP which ruled Delhi for 10 years before the BJP came to power. She called the previous AAP government "10 saal ki meva khane wali Sarkar", while she termed the ruling BJP government as "100 din ki seva karne wali sarkar." The AAP criticised the BJP government in Delhi, saying, "100 days of destruction by the BJP government is just a trailer, the full picture of the BJP's 'destruction model' is yet to come," the AAP posted on X. On Friday, Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav criticised the BJP-led government in the city for failing to deliver on key election promises and for the 'deteriorating' law and order of the national capital. Yadav said that it is the party's "duty" to question the pain faced by the people of Delhi as the BJP-led government completes 100 days here.
