Morocco Sets Preliminary Hajj Fee at MAD 65,000 for 2026 Season
Minister of Islamic Affairs Ahed Toufic announced the news today, noting that the initial fee is pending final adjustment that will confirm the final cost for the next Hajj season expenses.
The minister made his remarks during the meeting of the Royal Commission in charge of the Hajj for next year.
He said that the final amount is not confirmed and could either increase or decrease, adding that the collection of the provisional Hajj fee will take place from July 21 to August 8, after which the final amount will be determined.
To prepare for the next Hajj season, selected pilgrims must undergo the necessary medical examinations to obtain a certificate confirming their physical and mental fitness to perform pilgrimage.
The certificate needs to be submitted to the Ministry of Interior to receive the official selection confirmation.
Individuals will then have to complete the phase by paying the Hajj fees at Al Barid Bank branches. They need to do so by providing their selection certificate as well as their national ID card.
In the previous Hajj season, the Royal Commission for Pilgrimage set the cost for the Hajj at around MAD 57,200 ($6,377) for pilgrims supervised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs.
The Moroccan quota for the previous season's Hajj was 34,000 pilgrims.
Overall, about two million Muslims performed the Hajj this year.
In June, Saudi authorities celebrated a successful Hajj season, extending congratulations to all people who contributed to the success of the pilgrimage. Tags: HajjMoroccoPilgrimage

New Mauritius Hotels increases investment in Royal Palm Marrakech phase 2
New Mauritius Hotels Ltd (NMH) has announced the launch of the second phase of the Royal Palm Marrakech development, reaffirming its long-term commitment to Morocco. The investment significantly exceeds the amounts initially planned under the 2006 framework agreement signed with the Moroccan government. For this second phase of the tourism project, NMH has partnered with Ynexis Group (formerly Yamed Group), a prominent strategic financial partner in Morocco with strong expertise in hotel investment. The investment in the future 300-key luxury hotel now exceeds 600 million dirhams. (DPM), and Ynexis Group have joined forces to create Apexia Beachcomber Properties, an OPCI (real estate collective investment scheme) designed to own the existing hotel infrastructure and build the second hotel. Moroccans Spend Over MAD 15.5 Billion on Travel Abroad by June
Rabat – Moroccans' spending on travel abroad reached MAD 15.5 billion ($1.69 billion) in the first half of 2025, new data from the Moroccan exchange office has indicated. The number represents an increase of 8.2% in the first half of this year compared to MAD 14.33 billion ($1.56 billion) recorded during the same period last year. In addition, these new numbers reflect significant growth compared to the same period in 2021 and 2022, when Morocco's travel spending reached MAD 4.15 billion ($453.3 million) and MAD 7.95 billion ($869.3 million) during the same period, respectively. The relatively low numbers recorded in 2021 and 2022 were attributed to the lockdowns and travel restrictions triggered by COVID-19. In 2024, a survey by market research firm Sunergia listed travel preferences of Moroccans, showing that Spain, France, and Italy are the favorite international destinations for Moroccans. The three destinations attract 29%, 27%, and 17% of Moroccan visitors, respectively. Turkiye is also one of the top destinations for Moroccans, with 15% of the Sunergia survey respondents ranking the country as their favorite destination for summer vacation. As for local tourism, Moroccans prefer Tangier as a destination for tourism, alongside Marrakech and Agadir. About 38% of Moroccans see Tangier as their top destination, followed by Marrakech (33%), Agadir (26%), and Tetouan (22%).
