A US tech fund has committed $10 million to two Pakistani IT entrepreneurs and IT experts have praised this move as it looks promising for the future.
Tech analyst and expert Muhammad Yasir said that Pakistani IT firms are penetrating different traditional and non-traditional markets with their innovative products and services, which is a positive sign.
Attracting investments from US-based companies will not only boost business growth and expansion of Pakistani IT companies but it will also improve the image of the country in the relevant sector, opening doors for other companies in high-end markets such as the US and EU.
Pakistani IT companies need to reach more similar investors and venture capitalists in major traditional markets like the US, EU and non-traditional markets like the UAE and Saudi Arabia to expedite the overall growth of Pakistani IT exports and expansion.
JR Dallas Tech Fund, the premier private investment arm of JR Dallas Wealth Management, announced a groundbreaking $10 million commitment to globally recognised technology leaders Mehwish Salman Ali and Malik Mudassir to spearhead an exclusive US-focused startup investment initiative.

"We are entrusting $10 million to two of the most visionary technology leaders of our generation," said Jehangir A Raja, Managing Partner at JR Dallas Tech Fund. The investment is likely to generate positive economic impacts as these companies are expected to generate 300-500 high-skilled technology positions within 24 months.
Portfolio companies are projected to contribute $50-100 million in US economic activity within three years and accelerate breakthrough technologies in AI, healthcare, and cloud infrastructure.
Mehwish Salman Ali brings unparalleled expertise as Founder & CEO of Data Vault, Pakistan's first solar-powered and quantum-encrypted AI data centre, Co-Founder of Zahanat AI, the country's first indigenous GPT model, and COO of AppsGenii Technologies.
Malik Mudassir commands respect as Founder & CEO of AppsGenii Technologies, operating across the US, UK, and Pakistan, and Co-Founder of multiple successful ventures including GharPar, BoxesGen, and Dental Connect.
The $10 million fund operates under a rigorous investment framework designed to maximise both financial returns and economic impact:

Shanghai copper gains as prospects of US rate cut lift sentiment
BEIJING: Shanghai copper prices ticked up on Wednesday as US inflation data backed expectations for a Federal Reserve interest rate cut next month, although higher stocks kept gains in check. The most-traded copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange rose 0.43% to 79,280 yuan ($11,037.79) per metric ton by 0146 GMT. The contract hit its highest level since July 25 at 79,510 yuan a ton earlier in the session. Prospects of easing US monetary policy boosted sentiment across the sector, ANZ analysts said in a note. The consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.2% last month after gaining 0.3% in June, data showed on Tuesday. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the CPI rising 0.2%. Copper prices were also supported by news that China is planning to offer interest subsidies for businesses in eight consumer service sectors to boost consumption. Gains were, however, capped by higher LME and SHFE copper stocks, said Matt Huang, an analyst at broker Bands Financial. Stocks in London Metal Exchange-approved warehouses have climbed by 11% so far in August, while SHFE copper warehouses stocks are up nearly 13%. The rise came after US President Donald Trump excluded refined copper from the 50% import tariff effective August 1, ending a wave of front-loading cargoes to the United States to cash in on bumper premium. 'In the near term, the risk of a supply surplus is looming amid rising stocks. Also, we have not heard many Chinese smelters cutting output yet,' Bands Financial's Matt said. Benchmark three-month LME copper dipped 0.15% to $9,825.5 a ton after touching a more than two-week high on Tuesday boosted by a 90-day extension to a Sino-US trade truce. SHFE aluminium climbed 0.68%, nickel advanced 0.52%, tin ticked up 0.45%, and zinc edged up 0.24%, while lead was little changed. LME aluminium rose 0.15%, lead shed 0.1%, tin lost 0.18%, zinc slipped 0.12%, while nickel was flat. Reuters

US tariff cuts open new doors for Pakistan's auto sector, says Kamal
With the recent US tariff reduction opening fresh opportunities for Pakistani auto exports, Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan on Wednesday unveiled plans to strengthen the sector, forming a high-level committee to resolve industry challenges. The development came during an auto industry meeting with the commerce minister on Wednesday, read a statement. During the meeting, the minister informed that a high-level committee, including the Ministry of Commerce, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Ministry of Industries and Production, has been formed to resolve auto industry issues. Meanwhile, industrialists urged the government to protect the local auto sector from importing old vehicles. They said that production costs have increased due to new technology. Kamal informed that a government strategy will be prepared for the auto sector development and exports. 'After tractors and motorcycles, now cars will also be exported,' he said. The minister was of the view that the recently announced tariff reduction agreement with the US has created new opportunities for auto exports. The government believes that Pakistan's exporters are poised to gain a significant competitive edge in the US market after the government successfully negotiated a reduction in reciprocal tariffs from 29% to 19%. This marks the lowest tariff rate in the region and presents a major opportunity to boost Pakistan's exports to the United States. Meanwhile, Kamal invited the auto industry to join the new industrial policy. He noted that healthy competition is increasing in the Pakistani auto market. The commerce minister informed that tariffs on the auto sector would be reduced gradually in the next five years.

Yuan steady as dollar slips on US rate cut bets; China data eyed
SHANGHAI: China's yuan held steady against the dollar on Wednesday, as the greenback weakened overnight on growing expectations of US interest rate cuts, while investors awaited key Chinese economic indicators due later this week. The dollar weakened after a tame reading on US inflation bolstered expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut next month, with President Donald Trump's attempts to extend his grip over US institutions also undermining the currency. 'Against this backdrop, and with the extension of the US-China tariff truce for another 90 days, Asian FX is likely to remain broadly supported,' analysts at MUFG said in a note. Trade ties between the United States and China have remained a key driver of yuan moves this year. A 90-day extension of their tariff truce has helped ease uncertainty around the currency pair during the period. US trade officials will meet again with their Chinese counterparts within the next two or three months to discuss the future of the economic relationship between the two countries, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Tuesday. Prior to the market opening, the People's Bank of China set the midpoint rate at 7.1350 per dollar, 409 pips firmer than a Reuters' estimate. The spot yuan is allowed to trade 2% either side of the fixed midpoint each day. The broad firming trend in the daily yuan fixing also suggested the PBOC aims to keep yuan depreciation expectations contained, MUFG analysts said. The spot yuan opened at 7.1820 per dollar and was last trading at 7.1824 as of 0318 GMT, 5 pips firmer than the previous late session close and 0.66% weaker than the midpoint. Separately, markets are also awaiting China's credit growth and retail sales data this week to get a clearer picture of the health of the broader economy. China will offer interest subsidies for businesses in eight consumer service sectors including catering and tourism, in a bid to support services consumption amid a slowing economy. The offshore yuan traded at 7.1845 yuan per dollar, up about 0.02% in Asian trade. The dollar index, which measures the currency against six others, was 0.003% lower at 98.04. Reuters
