‘My favourite mascara that darkens my light lashes is currently 40% off'

Daily Mirror09-05-2025

Mirror's shopping writer Grace is a big fan of Benefit's mascaras, and her favourite one has been discounted by 40% in a limited-time LookFantastic offer
Mascara is a non-negotiable in my make-up bag. I'm just not one of those people who can skip it and still feel put-together. My lashes are naturally quite fair, especially at the roots, so if I'm not wearing a layer or two, my eyes tend to disappear and the rest of my make-up looks oddly unfinished.
However, that's where Benefit's Bad Gal Bang comes in. A few years ago, it quickly became one of my go-tos for big, fluttery lashes that made my make-up look a bit more complete.
It's now firmly cemented its place in my make-up bag. I dip in and out of trying out new mascaras, but I know I'll always come back to Benefit. And LookFantastic has currently got a major saving on the full-size and mini duo set. Originally priced at £42, the duo is now 40% off and priced at £25. That's less than the price of just the full-size version on its own.
The formula is packed with aero-particles which help create that lengthened, fuller look without weighing lashes down, making it look like you've just had a lash lift (in my opinion).
The compact brush is my favourite style of mascara brush, it's so precise meaning it can get every tiny lash for a fanned-out, non-clumpy finish. It's also smudge-resistant and water-resistant, so it stays in place from your morning commute to a post-work dinner without flaking off.
The best part about this set is that you can get a mini version, which is perfect for chucking in your bag on the go for any top-ups, and also for travel when you need to maximise every last bit of you liquid allowance.
I don't get much smudging below the eyes, but I find I get some blackness on the top of my eyelids where my lashes meet them. This issue is caused by how long the formula makes my lashes, so I can't complain too much, but if this is a problem the waterproof version prevents this completely. And it's currently reduced to £21.60 from £27 at Debenhams.
If you're a fan of tubing mascaras instead, another one of my favourites is Milani's Highly Rate Lash Extensions Mascara, £14 The benefit of a tubing mascara is that there is no flaking or smudging; the product really does stay on all day. Alongside this, when removing the mascara, the tubes slip right off with some warm water.
While our beauty editor, Laura, is a fan of Too Faced's new Ribbon Wrapped Lash Mascara, £28. Laura says: "The formula really did immediately wrap around each lash hair – it almost seemed like a magnet, or a bit like the action of the Dyson Airwrap as it whips the hair around. The result was every hair coated in seconds, with my whole eye done in 3-4 swipes – no going over missed spots – and lashes that were dramatically lengthened and volumised."

Noughties playboy who dated Katie Price and married Jodie Marsh unrecognisable now

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Matt Peacock, the noughties playboy known for dating Katie Price and marrying Jodie Marsh, is barely recognisable these days. The former heartthrob, who was a fixture in the tabloids two decades ago, has traded his glamorous lifestyle for a quieter family life. Now 42, Matt has undergone quite the transformation, swapping his signature bleach blonde locks for a more natural brunette look. He's still modelling, but his life off-camera is centred around his wife Rachael, whom he married in 2016, and their daughter Lily, born in 2018. A glance at Matt's Instagram reveals a mix of fitness shots, shirtless poses, and sweet family photos featuring his daughter and their two dogs. Despite stepping away from the limelight, Matt and Rachael maintain connections with their celebrity friends. He even posted pictures from Ryan's 40th birthday celebrations last June. Matt's modelling career kicked off when he signed with Boss Model Management, landing several high-profile campaigns, reports the Mirror. He's currently represented by Model Team. Matt and Katie Price began dating shortly after she welcomed her first son Harvey with ex Dwight Yorke in 2002. (Image: Phil Harris) (Image: @mattpeacock27/Instagram) The then 24 year old star was spotted by 18 year old Matt at a car show where she was striking poses as a model. The two soon entered into a whirlwind romance and even did a joint interview for a high-profile magazine. However, their relationship was fleeting, lasting merely two months before coming to an end following a significant dispute. According to friends, Matt found it tough to cope with the limelight during their time together. Matt's subsequent entanglement was his marriage to Katie's rival Jodie Marsh, tying the knot on the reality TV spectacle Totally Jodie Marsh: Who'll Take Jodie Marsh Up The Aisle? in 2007. Their wedding took place amidst the buzz of Brentwood's Sugar Hut nightclub, but the union was short-lived, with Matt confessing later that Jodie seemed more interested in his past liaison with Katie rather than him. Matt later found himself with glamour model Rhian Sugden, their romance spanning a year before they called it quits. Rhian later made headlines again due to a text message scandal involving TV star Vernon Kay in 2010. Come 2020, Matt shared his personal fears about potentially losing his career because of hair loss. Speaking to The Manchester Evening News, he confessed: "Losing my hair had been knocking my confidence for a few years and it was really affecting my day-to-day life. "I felt so much pressure to look good and keep the modelling jobs coming in to pay my bills and keep a roof over my family's head. Social media can be a big problem too, with such an expectation of perfection. We live in such an image-obsessed world. I went for a hair transplant and it has truly changed my life."

Protect your hair from sun, sea and chlorine on holiday with £24 waterproof mask

Want to stop your holiday from ruining your hair? Then this £24 hair mask is about to be your summer saviour, helping nourish and protect your hair from sun, sea and swimming Nothing ruins your hair faster than chlorine, salt water and too much sun, which can make your long-awaited holiday a nightmare for your locks. From drying out your strands to causing discolouration and tangles, the combination of chemicals and UV rays can spell disaster for your hair. However you don't need to spend your whole trip trying to keep your head above water, because Philip Kingsley's Swimcap Water-Resistant Mask is here to save the day. Originally created for the US Olympic synchronised swimming team, the hair mask has now become one of the go-tos for swimmers and sunbathers alike for protecting their hair. The Swimcap Water-Resistant Mask is £24 for a large 100ml bottle, and is suitable for all hair types, including coloured and chemically treated hair. It creates a protective barrier between your hair and external aggressors like chlorine, salt water and UV rays, and helps to nourish and hydrate each strand while you wear it. It's been fortified with hydrolysed elastin which boosts the strength and body of each strand, minimising breakage and damage. You also get extra moisture from castor oil and olive oil, leaving it silky soft and shiny after use. You just need to apply it to damp hair in sections and comb it evenly through your hair, and leave it on whilst sunbathing or swimming – it's fully water resistant, so you don't need to worry about it coming out. For the best results you can apply it the day before you're planning on being in the sun, and it's important to leave it on whenever you know your hair will be exposed to things like sun and swimming. Other options with similar results include Umberto Giannini Swim Proof Hair Protecting Cream, £8.95, which protects your hair from sun, chlorine and salt water whilst still letting you style your hair as normal after use. If your hair has already suffered the effects of your trip abroad, the SUN BUM Hair Mask, £19.99, or Color Wow's Coconut Cocktail, £25, are both excellent at restoring dry, damaged or over processed hair almost instantly. However Philip Kingsley's Swimcap Water-Resistant Mask has been getting rave reviews from LookFantastic shoppers, with a 4.85 star rating. One wrote: 'Absolute lifesaver on holiday! Saves your hair from all the chlorine & sun! Hair feels so soft after using it! Worth the money!' Another agreed: 'I have coloured hair and a few times in the pool my hair was coming out and was dry. This has changed my life no hair coming out and feels healthy after doesn't feel like I've been in the pool I will be using constantly now.' A third chimed in: 'I first tried this about 2 years ago for our holidays it's an absoloute God send for keeping your hair nice when in the sun or pool but I then realised it's amazing to put in the kids hair for there swimming classes. It stops the hair getting that build up of chlorine and when they rinse it out after swimming their hair is tat free and easy to manage. A little goes a long way too so although it's not the cheapest you do get your moneys worth.' Whilst a fourth was thrilled, writing: 'I have bleached highlighted hair, and this protected my hair from discolouration in the 30 degree heat whilst swimming. I didn't want my hair going green from the chlorine, and it didn't! I love this product, and is a firm favourite for holidays to protect my hair.' In fact there were only two reviews less than five stars, both of which were four star ratings. One was from someone who had yet to try it, and the other said: 'Love this for holidays as protects hair against sun, UV, chlorine etc. Only downside is that it has to be applied to damp hair!'
