Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom confirm split

CNN5 hours ago
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have split, three years after announcing their engagement.
The couple, who have a daughter, confirmed that they are no longer together, after much speculation about the state of their relationship.
According to US Weekly, which was the first outlet to report the official confirmation, representatives for Bloom and Perry issued a statement in which they said: 'Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.
'They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.'
CNN has reached out to the couple's representatives for comment.
The news came a week after widespread reports that Perry, who is currently on tour in Australia, did not attend the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez in Venice, although Bloom was a guest. It followed speculation that the A-list duo, who had been together for nine years, might have parted ways.
On Thursday, Bloom shared a series of cryptic quotes from Swiss psychologist and psychiatrist Carl Jung on Instagram. The numerous quotes referenced love, power, loneliness and addiction, with one reading: 'Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself.'
Bloom and Perry began dating in 2016. In 2020, they welcomed a daughter, Daisy Dove. In an interview with Trevor Noah last year, Bloom said he wouldn't change his relationship with Perry.
'I wouldn't change it for anything, even when sometimes it feels like, 'How do we do this?' Because we've got these two giant careers and lives, and hers is like a universe sometimes,' the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star said.
'But I think I just keep coming back to her and trying to hold her hand and walk her back to the sand pit and be like, we're just going to build a sandcastle.'
CNN's Lisa Respers France and Marianne Garvey contributed to this report.

Katy Perry And Orlando Bloom Break Silence Amid Split Rumours

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have spoken out amid rumours that they have called off their engagement. The Grammy-nominated singer and Lord Of The Rings actor have been in an on-off relationship since 2016, and announced that they were engaged in 2019. However, last month, it was widely reported that the pair were parting ways after around nine years together. Katy and Orlando had initially remained tight-lipped about the rumours for the last two weeks, but confirmed on Thursday evening in a joint statement that they were 'shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting' their four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom. Revealing that they wanted to set the record straight amid the 'abundance of recent interest and conversation' about their relationship, the former couple's statement added: 'They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.' The California Gurls singer recently wrapped up the Australian leg of her Lifetimes world tour, in support of her divisive latest album 143, which was released last year. Earlier this week, a video recorded at Katy's concert in Adelaide went viral as it appeared to show the performer fighting back tears amid rumours that she and her fiancé were no longer together. 'Thank you for always being there for me, Australia. It means the world,' she told the crowd, before composing herself and beginning a rendition of her signature hit Firework. Orlando, meanwhile, recently shared a moody Instagram post meditating on 'loneliness,' 'sadness' and 'darkness' amid the speculation that he and Katy had split. The Pirates Of The Caribbean star has a 14-year-old son, Flynn, from his previous relationship with the model Miranda Kerr. He has also dated the actors Kate Bosworth and Nora Arnezeder. Katy has previously been in relationships with musicians Travie McCoy, Diplo, Josh Groban and John Mayer, and was married to Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012. In the right spot, an AP photographer earned a wave from Bezos and Sanchez as they arrived in Venice

TOKYO, Japan (AP) — Luca Bruno has been a staff photographer for The Associated Press in Northern Italy, based in Milan, since 1989. A versatile shooter, Bruno has covered everything from fashion shows to multiple Olympics to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is what he had to say about this extraordinary this photo? The particular challenge for this assignment was getting that first BIG picture of the arrival of Jeff Bezos and Laura Sanchez that would be published everywhere. The days in Venice were very hectic and very hot but also full of satisfactions and details not to be forgotten – for one, Bezos' staff approached us by boat several times to bring us kinds of comfort such as ice cream and fresh water. How I made this photo I had just arrived, just a couple of hours in Venice, and it was not known exactly what time Bezos and Sanchez would show up at the Hotel Aman. When I saw the scene in front of the Hotel, many photographers were positioned on the quay right in front of the entrance tent. I thought that if the couple arrived, I would end up photographing them from the back, so I decided to walk to the opposite position, hoping to have them in front for their arrival. A bit of experience and a bit of luck: After a few minutes, a series of security boats appeared in the lagoon channel, and I knew they were coming. The boat on which the couple stood pointed straight toward me, and when they saw me on the quay they kindly greeted me from behind the tinted glass that was illuminated by the sunlight. I took a flurry of photos and one of those was satisfactory enough to put on the wire thanks to the immediate remote editing from the Rome office. Why this photo works It worked, first and foremost, because it was a document of their arrival for the wedding. Also, competitively, there was only one other photographer next to me.
