Ferne McCann has been left 'mind blown' by breastfeeding rates in the UK as she continues to breastfeed her two-year-old daughter beyond what is considered the norm
Ferne McCann has been left 'mind-blown' by breastfeeding rates in the UK. The former TOWIE star, 35, has daughter Sunday, seven, with her ex Arthur Collins as well as two-year-old Finty with current partner Lorri Haines.

She has opted to keep breastfeeding her youngest, even though she is beyond the traditional age. The reality TV star decided to take action after discovering that UK has one of the 'lowest' rates of breastfeeding in the world, with many women choosing to feed their children via formula, having shared her own experience with it on social media with sets of candid images and received backlash from some followers, who she thinks may have believed she had the wrong 'intentions' with it all.

During an appearance on Wednesday's This Morning, she told Andi Peters and Emma Willis: "Society, why people have such a problem with it, is breasts are over-sexualised and I think for other people, they found it very triggering because they felt that they had failed. It wasn't to shame or to make anyone feel like they'd failed, and I had to make a decision. It's such a small community, because the UK has the lowest rates of breastfeeding globally, which blows my mind." It comes after Alex Jones fights back tears as her rarely-seen husband appears on The One Show.

The former I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! contestant had opened up about how she wasn't always feeling confident about breastfeeding herself, and how she had to find a new way to think about her breasts, and while she understands that some of her social media posts may appear 'shocking' to some, she is 'proud' of what she is doing to raise awareness and stamping out the stigmas.
She added: "I want to use my platform to show support because that's the main reason that women don't continue. It's down to lack of education, and support, and confidence. I had to have that mindset shift when I began breastfeeding Sunday nearly eight years ago, and that relationship with my breasts.

"They then had to nurture my baby. You do have to dig deep, and find some confidence and that can be quite a daunting prospect. I think with every negative comment, there's been 10 positive and that's so hopeful. People want you to win.
"Community midwives want you to have a successful breastfeeding journey. It's a really right network and everyone really praises I feel proud to share those visuals because, I get that it is shocking because the relationship that people have with breasts and so on, I feel proud, especially now that Finty is two, because it isn't the norm. Bottle feeding is the norm."

As it stands, in the UK, around 81% of mothers attempt breastfeeding immediately after birth but and just 1% are exclusively breastfed by the age of six months. Comparatively, a study in 2021, found that 56.7% of mothers in the US breastfed their babies beyond six months.
When it comes to the idea that Ferne is choosing to breastfeed her child beyond what is considered the normal period, she insisted that it was never intentional but that it all has to work on a case by case basis.
She added: "People are not used to saying a toddler or a pre-schooler breastfeeding. For me, I didn't have a goal. With Sunday, it was different, and it was circumstances and I had to return back to work now I work from home, it's more freeing. it's more flexible for me.
"I didn't plan to do it for two years. It's so individual and it's so relative. It's our normal and I understand that it's not everyone else's but we're just going with it."

TOWIE's Amy Childs shows off her trim figure in a pink swimsuit during her family summer holiday to Tenerife after sparking weight loss concerns with fans

Amy Childs turned heads in a pink swimsuit as she showcased her trim figure on Instagram on Thursday. The TOWIE star, 35, is currently enjoying a sun-drenched getaway in Tenerife with her fiancé Billy Delbosq and children. In her latest social media post, Amy flaunted her slimmer than ever frame in the one-piece on a balcony. Shielding her eyes with a pair of sunglasses, the reality star posed up a storm with her daughters in the fun clip. Alongside the clip, she penned: 'This is what I live for. Holiday time. 'I have been counting down the days for time with all of us, life has been crazy busy lately. 'Having mum guilt the past few months has been tough but some much needed time away with my gang. And of course me and Milly are matching.' It comes after Amy sparked concern from fans over her dramatic weight loss. Earlier this year, she hit back at cruel internet trolls who have sent her hurtful comments over her recent weight loss. Taking to Instagram, she wrote: 'I wasn't going to post this, as I have been having such awful comments about my weight… 'I just want to come away be happy and feel amazing, I need to learn to love myself again, I have a long way to go and I definitely need to put on some weight but I will get there ♥️ positive vibes please.' Alongside the note, Amy shared a video of herself in a brown bikini as she displayed her slimmed down frame. Amy has also revealed the real reason behind her extreme weight loss after calling off her wedding to her fiancé Billy Delbosq. Addressing the weight loss and cruel trolling she's received as a result of the weight loss in an emotional interview with OK! Magazine she said: 'I'm going through so much at the minute that the weight has fallen off me. The reality star has lost two stone over the past year (pictured earlier this year) 'I worry about my mum constantly. She's very emotional – she thinks she's going to have another heart attack.' 'People think I'm not eating, but I do eat. To be honest, I do feel better when I'm a bit heavier than I am at the moment. There's so much going on at the minute – it's the result of pure stress. We're also having renovations done in the midst of parenting four kids.' Amy added: 'But I'm strong, I've been in this industry for 15 years. I've had lots of people concerned about me, which I completely understand, but yes, people can be so quick to judge.' Amy also explained how she once tried using weight-loss injections 18 months ago, but it made her 'so ill she threw up three or four times'.

N-Dubz's Tulisa 'slept on bathroom floor' for 5 days after sex tape leak

Tulisa Contostavlos has shared details from her 'year from hell', with her drug trial and sex tape scandal leaving her mental health spiralling. The N-Dubz legend revealed in her new memoir — Judgement: Love, Trials and Tribulations — that she attempted to take her life twice amid the turbulent year. In a blow to her solo career and X Factor stardom in 2012, her sex tape was leaked, then the following year, she was charged on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs. 'When I was a child, the bathroom was the only room in my house with a lock,' Tulisa wrote, according to The Mirror. 'I had always locked myself in there in times of distress, whether it was because my parents were going at it like two bulls in a china shop again, or my mentally ill mother was going off the rails.' She explained it had 'always been my place of safety' and that twenty years later, she was 'back lying on the bathroom floor'. 'Deep-rooted issues, I suppose,' Tulisa, 37, continued. 'When the sex tape had come out, I had slept on the bathroom floor for five days.' At the time, revenge porn was not illegal, so despite launching legal action against her ex-boyfriend Justin Edwards, all she received was an apology. The pair had split in 2009 and while the rapper initially denied responsibility, he offered his 'sincere apologies' via London's High Court. After the case was closed, Tulisa said: 'I am relieved that this is finally over. It has been a very testing few months and this was not a case I ever wanted to go through. 'I stand here today a stronger, wiser young woman who has taken this experience and learnt from it. I am disgusted by Justin and saddened by the people that believed I released the footage myself.' Her lawyer made clear this was 'not the case' and called the ordeal 'the most severe invasion of privacy imaginable'. This wasn't the only devastating moment that left Tulisa seeking comfort in the bathroom, having later attempted to take her life in there. Her former best friend, Gareth Varey, found her unconscious in the bathroom after she overdosed during the drugs case. 'What's the point in being alive just to be miserable?' she penned. 'How am I ever going to find happiness after this? Even if I'm found innocent, I'll be empty inside by the time I get to the end of it, and my life will be ruined.' The I'm A Celebrity star was revived but months later she attempted to take her own life for a second time, resulting in a three-day hospital trip. She was arrested after an elaborate sting and denied the charges, with the case collapsing after the judge believed the prosecution's witness and undercover journalist Mazher Mahmood lied in court. He was later sentenced to 15 months in jail. More Trending In the years that followed, Tulisa became addicted to sleeping tablets and benzodiazepines, which she finally freed herself from last year. She explained she had 'found her peace and faith' after a tumultuous decade, having joined N-Dubz at 11 years old and found fame by 20.
