Renault Triber Facelift Launching Tomorrow With New Logo: Full Details

NDTV6 days ago
Renault India is all set to revamp its line-up. While it should have happened much earlier, the brand is doing it rather boldly. The French carmaker will launch the facelifted avatar of its most affordable 7-seater MPV - Renault Triber, in the country tomorrow. The Triber is a practical machine, but was starting to show its age. We expect it to come with rather bold lines with this mid-cycle update. A new teaser of the upcoming Renault Triber has also been released, which showcases a fresh-new Renault logo. Following the Triber, this logo will be seen on all the upcoming models of the brand, including the new Duster, Boreal, Kwid EV, and more.
The new logo marks a significant milestone in the company's efforts to transform its brand in India under the 'renault. rethink.' brand transformation. However, the new logo is already part of Renault India marketing campaigns and other assets strategy.
Also, the New Visual Identity reflects Renault's transformation into a modern, human-centric, and tech-forward brand. The redesigned logo - a minimalist, interlocked diamond - symbolizes clarity, connection, and continuity, aligning with the brand's global direction and digital-first approach. In fact, the updated logo is already being implemented across all physical touchpoints in India, including dealerships, offices, the manufacturing facility, and the R&D centre.

Talking of the Triber, it is expected to come with the same powertrain, comprising a 1.0L 3-pot petrol motor, which can be paired to either a 5-speed MT or an AMT. A similar configuration is also available on the Nissan Magnite and belts out a peak power output of 72 Hp along with a rated torque output of 96 Nm.

Fruit, veggie prices climb as demand rises during Shravan

1 2 3 4 Ranchi: Prices of various fruits have skyrocketed by Rs 20 to Rs 50 per kilogramme (kg)from the normal in the city's retail markets during the holy month of Shravan. According to the vendors, the surge is being driven by increased consumption, particularly on Mondays and Sundays, when devotees observe fast and rely heavily on fruits. This demand-supply imbalance has triggered a steep rise in prices, the vendors said. Among all fruits, apples have emerged as the costliest this season. At present, three varieties of apples are being sold in the market, with the imported ones priced between Rs 250 and Rs 300 per kg compared to Rs 180 to Rs 220 per kg before Shravan began. Premium varieties have touched Rs 350 to Rs 400 per kg. "Both the weather and the rising demand have pushed up the prices," said Tausif Alam, a fruit vendor at the Upper Bazar. Other fruits, too, have seen price hikes. Mangoes, which were sold at Rs 60 to Rs 100 earlier, are now priced between Rs 180 and Rs 200 per kg, depending on the variety. Bananas have gone up to Rs 60 to Rs 70 per dozen from their earlier Rs 40 to Rs 50. Melons are retailing at Rs 120 per kg, up from Rs 90. Pears have reached Rs 350 per kg while oranges are now selling at Rs 160 per kg. Guavas, which were previously available at Rs 90 or Rs 100, are now priced at Rs 120 per kg. Mahesh Sahu, a vendor at Lalpur, said, "This is a trend we see every year during Shravan, but the price hike is steeper this time." He added that the customer footfall has remained consistently high despite the rising prices. Vendors estimated that the prices may stabilise only after Shravan in mid-August, provided the supply chains improve and the festive demand subsides. Rina Devi, a homemaker, said, "Prices rise every year, but this time it's just too much. Earlier, we could fill an entire basket for Rs 250, but now we get only a couple of items for the same amount." Similarly, the prices of vegetables have also witnessed a steep surge due to excessive rainfall and crop damage. For example, bitter gourd is being sold at Rs 80 per kg while French beans and capsicum are priced at Rs 120 per kg. Another kitchen essential, coriander leaves, has hit Rs 250 per kg. Tomato, brinjal, radish, and raw banana cost Rs 60 kg each, while okra is also priced at Rs 60 kg and pointed gourd is selling the "cheapest" at Rs 40 kg. The high demand for vegetables is also because of the Shravan month, when people avoid meat and fish. Mushrooms and seasonal Rugda are selling at Rs 800 to Rs 1,000 kg, making even a quarter-kilo unaffordable for many families.

Motor racing-Hamilton and Verstappen question race delay as others back FIA

By Alan Baldwin HT Image SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium (Reuters) -Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen questioned race control's handling of the rain-delayed Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday as rival drivers commended Formula One's governing body for putting safety first. The race at Spa-Francorchamps was delayed for an hour and 20 minutes as officials waited for rain to stop and conditions to dry out. The safety car then led the field for four laps before a rolling start. "I think we could have started way sooner, that's not ideal," Red Bull's four times world champion Verstappen told reporters, adding that in the end there had been very little racing in the wet. Hamilton, who went from the pit lane to seventh, said he did not think the rolling start was necessary. "I don't really know why they did that one, because it had dried up quite a lot and the spray wasn't that bad," added the Briton. The high-speed Spa circuit is the longest lap on the calendar and weather conditions can be treacherous. It also has a tragic past. French Formula Two driver Anthoine Hubert died in a crash at the 2019 Belgian Grand Prix at the exit of Raidillon, at the top of the famed Eau Rouge, while Dutch teenager Dilano van't Hoff died in a junior series crash in 2023. The list is much longer when the sport's distant past is considered. "I think the past few years, particularly here, we've given the FIA feedback that we would much rather be on the safe side than risk anything," said McLaren's race winner and championship leader Oscar Piastri. "I think that's what we did today. If you were to be picky, maybe we could have done one less formation lap. But in the grand scheme of things, if that's one lap too early, is it worth it? No." Ferrari's third-placed finisher Charles Leclerc, whose family friend Jules Bianchi suffered fatal injuries in a crash at the rain-hit 2014 Japanese Grand Prix, agreed. "On a track like this with what happened historically, I think you cannot forget about it. For that reason, I'd rather be safe than too early," he said. "Maybe it was a little bit on the late side, but I wouldn't have changed anything." Williams' Carlos Sainz, who started near the back and would have suffered in the spray, supported race control. "In a normal track, yes, I think we could have started maybe 5-10 minutes earlier. In Spa-Francorchamps and the history of this track, it's better safe than sorry," said the Spaniard. ‘I am confident of strong EV ecosystem being built in Tamil Nadu'

As the MD of Renault India, Venkatram Mamillapalle has seen Tamil Nadu's Oragadam belt develop into an automotive manufacturing hub even as the Renault Nissan factory made cars for India and exported from there. In a chat with TOI, he discusses TN's next big leap into EVs, infrastructure, ecosystem, and the near future. Excerpts:  Renault has launched the new Triber, and three new products are to be rolled out in the next two years. What is the capacity utilisation at the Oragadam plant? Will it increase? The Oragadam plant is still used by both the partners, Renault as well as Nissan. So, together, we are currently at about 50% utilization. The new Triber will help enhance our volumes for this year and in the future as well. And the Triber will be exported to all those countries where the old Triber had been going, and the first shipment should leave Ennore Port sometime in the first week of August. The first export shipment will be headed to South Africa. The new products in the pipeline were set to include some EVs as well. When will we see electric vehicles rolling out of your Oragadam plant? When we announced the new investment in February 2023, we said we were going to launch four new products, two for Nissan, two for Renault. Later on, we said we are going to launch four new products, and we are still holding to that. Starting with the new Triber, we will launch four products in the next two years. We did say that we are also looking to launch an EV as early as possible because HEV and EV are arm's length technologies for us, and they are already available in Europe (whether they are ethanol, hybrids, or electric). We are still waiting for regulatory clarifications on a host of issues like CAFE policy, tax issues related to EVs, and the fact that HEVs currently don't have any tax benefits today. The carbon trading policy is also not clear, and the ecosystem that has to support an EV in the Indian market is not completely ready.  How does Tamil Nadu's EV manufacturing ecosystem compare to that of other states? What more should it do to support automobile companies? I've been in touch with Guidance Tamil Nadu and the ministry of industries in TN. Recently, we had a positive discussion and they're encouraging investments in Tamil Nadu for new technologies. I'm sure there are many suppliers interested in building the EV ecosystem in TN. They're already in talks or discussions with the government, thanks to the government's ability and agility in supporting such investments. I admire the way Tamil Nadu is moving forward. The govt is going door-to-door to speak to suppliers about investing. I am confident they will build a strong EV ecosystem in Tamil Nadu.  Have you spoken to the govt regarding getting into EV production? We've been speaking with them to support the development of a robust EV ecosystem—making it as wide and as deep as possible. Their efforts are focused on helping demand grow, which in turn allows EV manufacturers to justify their investments and sell their cars. These discussions have been very positively received. Will the presence of big-ticket EV investors like VinFast help catalyse the supplier ecosystem in TN? Everything acts as a catalyst to develop the ecosystem. It should be a group effort, along with strong govt support, which is already happening. The way the govt is promoting the state's subsidies and supportive programmes is helping.  What can be done to ease the congestion at Chennai's ports? There are two ports in Chennai, and Renault operates out of the Ennore Port. No doubt, logistically, the state does need better port infrastructure. Ship visits to these ports should be more frequent. When demand increases, that will follow. Especially with our focus on Europe and Latin America, improvements in port infrastructure are necessary. One round of discussions has already taken place. We are waiting for further feedback following discussions with the commerce and industry ministry at the central level. These discussions were primarily about improving logistics from our ports towards Europe and expanding infrastructure as well.
