The pair were spotted enjoying a meal together Monday night at upscale eatery Le Violon in the city's Le Plateau neighbourhood. TMZ was the first to report the sighting, sharing photos of the duo leaning over the table while in conversation.

Le Violon, recently named Canada's Best New Restaurant, confirmed the outing to Global News, saying Trudeau and Perry arrived at the restaurant during regular service hours and 'were seated like any other guests, alongside other patrons.'

The restaurant said the pair were 'very warm, friendly, and gracious to our team,' and that they stopped by the kitchen with a personal thank you for the staff.

While there, Perry and Trudeau enjoyed the chef's menu, including tuna and tomatoes, beef tartare, lobster and asparagus, gnocchi and lamb.
Perry, as part of her Lifetimes tour, is slated to perform in Ottawa Tuesday, before returning to Montreal for a show Wednesday and continuing on to a performance in Quebec City on Friday.
The nature of their dinner date is unclear, and it's not known if Trudeau has plans to see Perry perform.

The singer's dinner with Trudeau comes just weeks after a July 4 statement confirmed the end of her relationship with actor Orlando Bloom.
Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, separated in August 2023 after 18 years of marriage.

Organizers promise affordable, Canadian focused event as Queen City Ex kicks off
The Queen City Ex kicked off on Wednesday. (Mick Favel / CTV News) The Queen City Ex (QCX) is now underway, and organizers are saying this year's event will be affordable, Canadian focused and an unforgettable time. With the addition of West Coast Amusements (WCA), the midway looks considerably different with a selection of rides new to QCX. 'This is a big step for us. We're excited to be here. We are going to do the best job we can. I'm very confident we're going to make a lot of people happy,' Rob Hauser, WCA's president said. Survey results from the 2024 QCX reported affordability as a major factor for attendees. Leading up to the 2025 QCX, pricing for attendees was a planning point for organizers, as well as still hosting a financially successful event. Cathleen Betker is the event manager of the QCX. A public concern for several past QCX events has been the level of security on site. Metal detectors are returning at all entrances, as well as a visible police presence. 'We also do a lot of community outreach at events like this. We know a majority of our population is going to be here, so we want to be where the people are,' Sgt. Ross Kauk with the Regina Police Service said. For those not planning on going on the rides, there are a variety of foods to try and activities to attend indoors. An all-Canadian lineup of musical acts will also grace the stage each night, with Blue Rodeo scheduled to play on Wednesday evening.

Toronto woman goes viral after hosting free buffet for passengers on the TTC
A Toronto woman is going viral for giving a whole new meaning to 'fast food.' Izzy Petraglia, a freelance writer and publicist, turned a TTC subway commute into an extraordinary act of generosity and community building by hosting a free buffet for passengers on Monday. Petraglia brought her passion project to life when she and a few friends set up a full buffet table aboard a Line 1 subway train at around 7 p.m. Inspired by a viral New York City subway Thanksgiving dinner video she saw months ago, Petraglia said she had long dreamed of recreating something similar, ahead of launching her own cookbook. 'I saw the video and thought, 'That would be cool to do one day.' A few weeks ago, I finally said, 'You know what? I'm going to do it,'' she told Global News. Story continues below advertisement Petraglia said she prepared all the food herself the day of, serving a variety of dishes and treats, including spicy miso cucumber salad, pancit bihon, sweet and spicy tofu, noodles and cookies. 'The ube white chocolate cookies were by far the biggest hit,' she said. 'At first, people were just laughing or taking photos,' Petraglia said. 'But then some came up to grab plates.' 'One woman had just worked a 12-hour shift and told us she could cry from how hungry she was. That meant a lot to me, and when I realized that's why I did it.' Story continues below advertisement A handwritten flyer listing all ingredients was handed out with each plate, ensuring passengers with allergies had full transparency. While Petraglia did receive some backlash online over hygiene concerns, she said her team made hygiene a top priority, regularly sanitizing and serving the food themselves rather than letting people self-serve. 'I was careful, we sanitized, we listed all allergens, served people, and we did it as safely as possible,' she told Global News. The subway feast wasn't just a one-off stunt, according to Petraglia, who plans to do another one in a few months. 'I love gathering people over food,' she said. 'Everyone on the TTC is in their own little world. I wanted to get people out of that and talking to one another.' Edmonton Heritage Festival returns for 52nd year, last time at Borden Park
The Edmonton Heritage Festival is back at the Expo Centre Exhibition Lands and Borden Park this upcoming August long weekend. 'It's a festival that brings the world together — it brings the community together,' said Rob Rohatyn, executive director of the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association. 'It gives the community an opportunity to meet and engage with all of the cultures that make up Edmonton.' The Exhibition Lands (formerly Northlands) and Borden Park sit beside each other in central Edmonton, near 112 Avenue between 79 Street and Wayne Gretzky Drive. From cultural music and dances to arts, crafts and food — this year there will be 67 pavilions to experience from August 2 to 4. 'All of our cultural pavilions are made up of not-for-profit cultural organizations from right here in Edmonton, they put in countless hours volunteer time, as well as their financial support in putting their pavilions together,' Rohatyn said. Part of the heritage festival agreeing to relocate to Border Park for three years came with a number of expectations of the city, including a memorandum of understanding guaranteeing a right to return to Hawrelak Park, an agreement about incremental cost coverage and improvements to the site's egress. Story continues below advertisement The work should leave the massive river valley park updated for decades to come. 'Excited to return to Hawrelak in 2026,' Rohatyn said. 'It's been our home — we've been removed from it for the last three years, but it's going to be a beautiful space when we return.' Most of the infrastructure in Hawrelak was original to the park since its opening in 1967 and had exceeded its lifespan. The project is addressing the utilities, transportation, open spaces and facility infrastructure throughout the entire park. A large part of the work: digging up and replacing underground lines and pipes. The city is replacing the entire storm sewer, irrigation and water systems and upgrading power, gas and telecommunications. It is also expanding water service to provide fire coverage at several places of the park. Credit: City of Edmonton The main pavilion structure and plaza are getting updates to to finishes, fixtures, skate flooring, commercial kitchen, mechanical and electrical systems and adding gender-neutral washrooms. The Heritage Amphitheatre will also see several changes: new outdoor seating and finishes as well as lighting, structural, mechanical and electrical upgrades, along with adding family/gender-neutral washrooms and more storage. The green room and back of house access will also be reconfigured. In the park's open spaces, the playground and paddle boat dock will be replaced. The city is adding more lighting, bicycle parking and more shared-use paths connecting amenities, and repaving all roads. The city said it will also dredge the sediment from the bottom of the lake.
