SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Savannah Tree Foundation (STF) is hosting several events this week to mark Earth Day and Arbor Day.
Leigh Acevedo, interim executive director, said the events are designed to bring the community together in support of Savannah's urban canopy, all while raising funds to meet the goal of planting 10,000 trees by the year 2030.
On Friday, April 25, STF will participate in the Earth Day Festival in Daffin Park. There, they will hold a ceremonial planting of their 6,000th tree, a 30-gallon live oak.
Also on Friday, STF is hosting a three-hour guided tour through the cypress and tupelo forests with Savannah Canoe and Kayak. On Saturday, April 26, 'Jokes for Oaks' will take place at Front Porch Improv. And, on Sunday, April 27, STF will host 'Yoga Under the Candler Oak.'

Keibler, 45, was a fan favorite during her time with the WWE. It didn't matter if she was the "Duchess of Dudleyville" or Vince McMahon's personal assistant, she knew how to grab everyone's attention. In 2023, she was officially inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. "I never thought I would be in the Hall of Fame, to be honest," Keibler said. "I was completely shocked when I got the call. Over the past few days, Keibler has shared countless vacation photos from Saint-Tropez. Like really hugged one?⁣⁣ Years ago, if you told me I'd be the kind of person who hugs trees and means it—I would've laughed. ⁣⁣But somewhere along the way, something shifted," Keibler wrote. "On a trip to Peru, I connected with Pachamama—Mother Earth—in a way I never had before. I've always loved nature, but this was different. It was a felt connection. Deep, grounding, alive.⁣⁣Being in Costa Rica for Earth Day was a vivid reminder of nature's awe-inspiring beauty. Today (and every day), I'm grateful for this wild, generous planet we call home.⁣ Happy Earth Day. Go hug a tree... I promise it won't judge you." Why Friday, June 13, 2025 is so special

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — Every Friday the 13th comes with its own list of crazy facts and figures. Some people think it is an unlucky day. Others associate it with the popular horror movie franchise. No matter what you think of the day, Friday, June 13, 2025, is special for another reason: it is the only Friday the 13th this year. Most years have at least 2 Friday the 13ths. A year that has only one happens once every 400 years or so. That is due to the Gregorian calendar, which has a repeating cycle of 400 years. Over that period of time, there are 171 years with exactly one Friday the 13th, 170 years with two and 59 years with three. Another fun Gregorian calendar/Friday the 13th fact: although there is always at least one Friday the 13th per calendar year, it can be as long as 14 months between two Friday the 13ths. And if you're wondering why Friday the 13 is known as an unlucky day, it traces back to Scandinavian gods. An old tale says the god of mischief disrupted a dinner party of 12 other god. Of course, there are those pesky movies too. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
