Piastri wins Belgian GP, extends championship lead
Heavy rain delayed the 13th round of the season by 80 minutes, with organisers eventually allowing a rolling start after four laps behind the safety car as the sun finally appeared.
Pole sitter Norris was quickly passed by Piastri as Norris complained he had a problem with his car's battery.
Piastri then produced a controlled race from the front to lead home McLaren's sixth 1-2 of the season.
"I knew lap one was going to be my best chance of winning the race," said Piastri.
"Rest of race we managed really well," the Australian added.
"Oscar did a good job, nothing more to say," said Norris.
Max Verstappen, winner of Saturday's sprint, took fourth in Laurent Mekies' first race weekend as Red Bull team principal after the sacking of Christian Horner a fortnight ago.

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt was fuming after the game in Melbourne on Saturday, adamant that Italian official Andrea Piardi got it wrong. Australia led for 79 minutes and were on the cusp of an upset when Hugo Keenan crossed at the death to seal an epic 29-26 comeback victory and the three-match series after the Lions won the first Test in Brisbane. Schmidt was adamant the try should not have stood, citing a high clean-out in the lead-up by Welsh flanker Jac Morgan on Carlo Tizzano. World Rugby rules state that contact made above the shoulders at the ruck is not allowed. Piardi reviewed the incident and ruled there was no foul play, but Rugby Australia chief executive Waugh backed Schmidt's interpretation. "We've got the utmost respect in respecting the referee's decision," Waugh told The Australian newspaper on Monday, adding that the Lions deserved praise for their comeback win. "But I do think there's a level of accountability and explanation that needs to come with that. And we look forward to that." In his post-match comments, Schmidt said the decision "doesn't really live up to the big player safety push" being made by World Rugby. "My response is absolutely identical to Joe's comments in the press conference," said Waugh. "I played professionally for 13 years and Joe's coached professionally for 20 years and both our views, and all those organisationally, are very aligned with what Joe talked to in that post-match press conference. Palou wins eighth IndyCar title of year at Monterey Grand Prix
The 28-year-old Spaniard won from the pole position for the second consecutive year to claim his 19th career IndyCar title after 95 laps over the 11-turn, 2.238-mile permanent road course at Laguna Seca in northern California. "What an amazing job by everybody to be as fast as we were," Palou said. "We had enough pace to open a small gap and get the win." Palou, the Indianapolis 500 winner, was in command from start to finish and with three races remaining could break the one-season win record of 10 set by A.J. Foyt in 1964 and matched by Al Unser Sr. in 1970. "It has been an awesome weekend, awesome year overall, but today was something else," Palou said. "Super fun to be here. One of my favorite tracks. I'm happy right now." Denmark's Christian Lundgaard finished second followed by American Colton Herta, Mexico's Pato O'Ward and New Zealand's Scott Dixon. Palou stretched his lead in the 2025 championship chase to a massive 121 points over O'Ward, who is now the only rival who can overtake him for the title. Palou is on 590 points with O'Ward a distant second on 469. Palou grabbed the lead at the start and kept it until a lap-25 pit stop under caution after American Kyle Kirkwood bumped Dutchman Rinus VeeKay. Palou returned to the track in second place but made an outside pass of American Nolan Siegel on lap 37 to reclaim the lead. The Spaniard stopped again on lap 52 and took over the lead once more only seconds after his return to the track. Palou made his final stop on lap 72 and returned to the course with a lead of more than eight seconds, then staying in front to the finish.
