Liverpool Midfielder Signs New Contract
Liverpool midfielder Luca Stephenson has signed a new contract with the club and will continue his development with a season-long loan at Dundee United. The 21-year-old, known for his versatility in midfield and defence, enjoyed a breakthrough year in Scotland and will return to Tannadice Park for the 2025-26 campaign.
Breakthrough Season in Scotland
Stephenson's first spell at Dundee United in 2024-25 proved a turning point. He played 34 matches, scored three goals, and was instrumental in helping the club secure fourth place in the Scottish Premiership, earning them a place in European competition. His performances were recognised with the Young Player of the Season award, cementing his reputation as one of the league's most promising young talents.
Arriving at Liverpool from Sunderland at Under-15 level, Stephenson is yet to make his senior competitive debut for the Reds. However, he featured in four pre-season friendlies this summer under Arne Slot, gaining valuable minutes alongside the first-team squad. Slot, who led Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season in charge, is expected to keep a close watch on Stephenson's progress.
Previous First-Team Experience
The midfielder's first exposure to senior football came in 2023-24 during a loan spell at Barrow in League Two. That experience laid the groundwork for his successful move to Dundee United, where he adapted quickly to the physical and tactical demands of the Scottish top flight.
Stephenson first signed professional terms with Liverpool in 2020. His decision to extend his contract reflects both the club's belief in his potential and his own commitment to breaking into the senior squad in the future.
Targeting Further Growth at Dundee United
Speaking after securing the deal, Stephenson expressed his enthusiasm for another year in Scotland. While the new contract ensures his long-term future is at Liverpool, the focus for now is on building on last season's progress with Dundee United. The club's qualification for European competition adds an extra challenge and opportunity for the young midfielder to test himself at a higher level.
With Liverpool's midfield options deep and competitive, a season of regular football in a demanding environment could prove crucial. Stephenson's return to Tannadice offers Dundee United a player already proven in their system, and it gives Liverpool a clearer picture of how he performs under pressure.

Liverpool bosses CONVINCED Real Madrid talks are real
Those are the top of Liverpool Football Club believe talks involving Real Madrid are real. So where do they go from here? Real Madrid reportedly believe they have a wonderful relationship with Liverpool. That was a report earlier in the year as they continued their pursuit of Trent Alexander-Arnold. They'd land him, of course. Alexander-Arnold held Liverpool at bay for years, in fact, before deciding to reject their contract offers and sign for Real Madrid. Half of Real Madrid's team, it seems, was once linked with Liverpool. And they're not stopping there. There are reports all over the place linking Real Madrid with certain players at Anfield. Ibrahima Konate, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch...; we wonder if a couple more could get added to that list this season. Especially if Liverpool perform as well as expected. 🔴 Shop the LFC 2025/26 adidas away range Liverpool believe talks are real Marca reports that Liverpool bosses believe Real Madrid are already talking to Konate. They're convinced that there have been discussions and that a potential agreement between the two already exists. The report goes on to suggest that Liverpool will offer another contract to the Frenchman but if it's rejected, they may look to sell in this transfer window. None of this should really be a surprise. When the Spanish media goes this hard on a potential transfer to Real Madrid, you can bet there's something in it. We saw exactly the same with Alexander-Arnold last summer and beyond, after all. It's just how things work over there and we fully expect that Konate has been in discussions of some sort with them. What's less clear is Liverpool's next move.

Sunderland reach agreement in principle with PSG to sign Nordi Mukiele
Promoted Premier League side AFC Sunderland has reached an agreement in principle with Champions League winners PSG to sign France international fullback Nordi Mukiele (27), according to . The former RB Leipzig defender has been allowed to travel to Wearside to undergo his medical with Regis Le Bris' Black Cats. The versatile Mukiele joined PSG from Leipzig three years ago in a €12m deal. The Stade Lavallois Academy product was expected to leave PSG this summer considering he's not highly regarded by Luis Enrique. The Spaniard sanctioned Mukiele's season-long loan to Bayer Leverkusen last season. Despite PSG's over-reliance on right-back Achraf Hakimi, and the Moroccan international's expected absence for the AFCON, Mukiele was deemed surplus to requirements in the French capital as Warren Zaïre-Emery and João Neves can fill at right-back.
