Inside Brooklyn Beckham's ‘financial flex' in feud with dad David as his £85m superyacht dwarfs family's £16m vessel

BROOKLYN Beckham is trying to outdo his estranged dad David — by going on holiday on his billionaire in-laws' massive yacht.
The 26-year-old sailed into Saint-Tropez in an £85million, 80-metre (260ft) vessel called Project X.

It is rented by his wife Nicola's parents Nelson and Claudia Peltz at a cost of £1.2million a week.
Two days later, Brooklyn's dad David, 50, and mum Victoria, 51, arrived in the same French dock in a £16million, 40-metre (130ft) yacht named Seven.
A source said: 'Brooklyn's yacht dwarfs the one owned by David and Victoria. It's a financial flex.
'Their relationship is beyond soured now but Brooklyn has really landed on his feet. Nicola and her parents, Nelson and Claudia, are his family now. And he's clearly enjoying the spoils.'
Brooklyn's vessel, with a master suite, a VIP cabin, five double rooms and two twin cabins, has a crew of 28.
It also boasts a 25ft by 9ft glass-sided swimming pool, a wellness suite, a spa and a 360-degree sundeck.
David's yacht is half the size, with five cabins that sleep ten people, and up to seven crew members on board.
The boat, which he bought in 2022, also features a spa bath on the upper deck as well as a 65ft garage, which is packed with water toys including a tender and a jet ski.
David and Victoria bought Seven — so-called because of their daughter Harper's middle name — in an upgrade from a smaller £5million vessel.
They are in Saint-Tropez with Harper, 14, and their other sons Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20.
David and Victoria Beckham's agony as family feud explodes into WW3 and pals say 'Brooklyn has totally cut them off'
Brooklyn, along with his wife Nicola, 30, no longer speak to his family following a much-publicised feud earlier this year, which The Sun understands was sparked by money.
We first revealed the rift in May.
But it worsened earlier this month after brothers Romeo and Cruz appeared to block Brooklyn and Nicola on social media.
Those close to Brooklyn said a reconciliation with his family was off the table, adding: 'There's too much water under the bridge.'
Brooklyn and Nicola have posted pictures from their break on social media — including one of her naked in one of the yacht's baths.
Aspiring cook, photographer and model Brooklyn also posted a snap of himself drinking a bottle of beer next to billionaire businessman Nelson.

Brooklyn and Nicola have also been seen out shopping in posh boutiques in and around Saint-Tropez.
He also met his godfather, singer Sir Elton John, last week in Cannes.
Sir Elton is said to have tried to be a peacemaker in Brooklyn's feud — but is not taking sides.
An insider said: 'Elton is the showbiz equivalent of Switzerland. He's utterly neutral in this row. He just wants everyone to be happy.
'He wants to look after them in his role as 'spiritual adviser' as a godfather. It's a role he takes seriously.'

Larry Lamb, 77, confesses he is 'thinking more about death' and feels the end is near as he gushes over spending important moments with his daughters

Larry Lamb has revealed he feels the end is near as he candidly opened up about his mortality and admitted death is on his mind. The Gavin and Stacey star, 77, will celebrate his 78th birthday in October, as he confessed: 'The older I get the more I think about how much I love life, but the more I think about how much I love life, the more it makes me think about death.' Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Larry, who lives the majority of his time in Normandy, explained that he each year he and his friend go to tidy up the graves in a graveyard. Revealing how the visit made him confront his mortality he said: 'It all started me thinking more about facing it realistically, because sadly, I don't want to sign up for that bit at all, but in the end you are going to have to.' Larry has four children, including 45-year-old TV presenter George Lamb, and daughters Vanessa, 56, Eloise, 26, and Eva, 22. Discussing his close bond with his children he gushed how important it is for him to spend as much time with them as he can. Discussing his close bond with his children he gushed how important it is for him to spend as much time with them as he can (pictured with his daughters Eloise, 26, and Eva, 22 in 2017) 'I couldn't get home for Father's Day this year, so my two baby daughters - both in their twenties - insisted that we have a belated celebration the next Sunday. 'Marking Mother's and Father's Day is very important for them, because the older I get, of course the more important it is for me, and they always give me a meaningful, little gift that they chose between them.' He continued: 'It just becomes more and more obvious to me that it's an opportunity for them to write me a card or a letter and to tell me exactly how much they love me, and why. 'So I sat there basking in their love, in the sunshine and just realising how lucky I was, and what makes me, and drives me to keep doing whatever I can, to stay alive for as long as I can to give them a dad for as long as I can. 'Somewhere out there – I see it now and again, flickering down the end of its kind of long, nicely illustrated tunnel there's a sign, and it says, "Way Out," and I know that's the way I'm going.' Larry explained he writes poems to help him cope with death to make the thought of it easier to deal with. 'I started to write little poems about it with a friend of mine, and it really makes it much easier for me to deal with, because I was always very frightened of it, and it was full of mystery. 'I didn't really know – I've not been encumbered with any kind of religion at all. It's kind of pick it up as you go along.' Larry also revealed he was friends with the late Dame Maggie Smith after they first crossed paths at the beginning of his acting career. The star explained: 'I hadn't seen Maggie Smith in person since she was in Canada, at the Shakespeare Festival in Stratford Ontario, where I was starting out my acting career. 'Our eyes met across a big room in a London club, where a lot of us were celebrating the life of a wonderful, long actor who we'd all loved, and we met each other's eyes, and she smiled at me and mouthed, 'Larry Lamb,' and we walked across to each other and we hugged, and we kissed and we just stood back looking at each other. 'Staring into each other's eyes and the years just flying by, and she just said, 'I hate being old.' 'We stayed in touch over the next few years, but it was only ever on the phone. 'We never got together - she was rather reluctant to go out - and I kept phoning her regularly, and then I left it off. 'Then all of a sudden I heard that she'd died, and I thought well there's no way to connect, that's that. '[Then] right out of the blue, I got a phone call from one of her sons, Chris Larkin. I said to him, 'I don't think I've spoken to you since you were seven years-old in Canada." 'He laughed and he said, 'You're right, but [brother] Toby and I are going through mum's telephone book, and any name that doesn't have a line through it is invited to the funeral".'

Bride is criticised for spending £70,000 on her wedding in London - and one expense is branded 'absolutely criminal'

A bride has been criticised for spending a 'shocking' sum on her one-day wedding in London - with several people noting she could buy a house for that much money. Christina Theofanous, 29, revealed that she forked out more than £70,000 on her big day, with the marketer from Hertfordshire spending £8,800 on the dress alone. Her partner, James Dodd first began saving money in 2021 to go travelling but Christina said this slowly turned into a wedding fund. When the 30-year-old popped the question to Christina on holiday in Dubai in September 2023, the pair spent the next 18 months 'making sacrifices' to afford their big day. The couple splashed out £33,000 on their wedding venue in Westminster, London, which included a £18,577 wedding breakfast for 130 of their closest friends and family. They spent nearly £2,000 to ensure the bridal party's hair and make-up looked picture perfect, including four make-up trials that Christina quipped were 'just extra'. Despite forking out the average price of a flat in Blackpool on their celebration, Christina insists the couple have not racked up any debt and don't have any regrets on their decision to go big for their wedding in April. She shared a TikTok post with a breakdown of her wedding expenses and while some said it was a 'shocking' amount to spend, she claimed it was 'worth every penny'. Christina, from Hitchin in Hertfordshire, said: 'There wasn't a budget. We decided to have our wedding in London and had an idea it was going to be expensive. 'I knew exactly what I wanted so when I started researching I found that these were the costs. 'We had a savings pot before we got engaged that we wanted to use for travelling but this turned into the wedding pot and we naturally started saving from this point. 'If we wanted to spend this amount, we needed to make sacrifices and save hard to make it happen and this is what we did. 'The cost for the venue was just over £33,000. This included the venue hire, the canapes, drink reception, wedding breakfast and evening buffet and we also extended the venue to 1am which was an extra cost. 'The wedding breakfast was £18,000 which included a three-course meal for everyone, half a bottle of wine, one glass of prosecco for everyone for the toasting. 'It included teas, coffees, soft drinks and some truffles with the coffees. I think it was around £130 per person. 'Hair and makeup cost £1,640 and this included hair and makeup for me, my mum, my sister and my best friend and my flower girl's hair. They spent nearly £2,000 to ensure the bridal party's hair and make-up looked picture perfect, including four make-up trials, which she jokingly explained on social media as being 'just extra' The couple spent over £2,000 on a custom suit for the groom - which feels tiny compared to the £8,800 on Christina's wedding dress 'In this total I had paid £180 for a bridal hair and makeup trial but it was my decision to pay for an extra three trials. 'It was a lot of money for sure but it was worth it for me [to feel good on my wedding day]. 'The flowers, which included three bouquets and decorating the whole venue, set us back £7,836. 'This was quite a shocking amount and we did make changes to bring the cost down to this.' Christina said a family member gave them £5,000 to help towards their big day and her dress, heels and veil were also gifted by family. However, she later changed into an £85 dress as one follower noted it was 'absolutely criminal' to spend nearly £9,000 on her white gown only to change into a much cheaper outfit later. The bride said she understands why people were shocked they had splashed out so much money on their wedding but said they had worked hard for their savings. Christina said: 'I completely agree and I'm not stupid and think it's not expensive. WEDDING COSTS Venue hire: £10,800 Wedding breakfast: £18,577 Supplier meals: £74.40 Kids meal: £25 Venue extension until 1am - £900 Evening buffet: £2,670 Bar tab: £1,500 Dress & alterations: £8,800 (dress gifted) Second dress: £85 Heels and veil: £850 (gifted) Hair and makeup: £1,640 James' custom suit: £2,150 Rings: £2,300 Perfume: £278 Wedding cake: £290 Photographer, videographer and content creator: £6,850 Flowers: £7,836 Music (Pianist and DJ): £3,495 Bar: £864 Registrar: £1,000 Honeymoon: £5,500 Two night hotel wedding stay: £590 (hotel stay gifted) TOTAL =£77,074.40 (TOTAL minus gifted items and £5,000 from family =£63,224.40) 'We saved for 18 months and we had a plan. Some people said it's just one day and that is a waste of money and that's fine as it's not for everyone. 'But growing up I always wanted to get married and have this kind of wedding, and for us it's worth it and we were both on the same page. 'I lived up north for three years and when I was looking for houses I did see some for £60-£70,000 so I do get people's perspectives for sure. 'But, as bad as this sounds, this is our life and we work hard to do what we do. 'It was worth every penny and we have no regrets and we're not in debt from it. The wedding day was perfect.' Christina's TikTok video racked up more than 190,000 views and while some users didn't see a problem with the couple's spending, others thought it was excessive. One user commented: 'My house cost the same as your wedding,' Another said: 'Waste of money mate. I wouldn't spend that much on a wedding even if I was [Jeff] Bezos.' A third commented: 'Sorry but this is a shocking amount to spend on one day! Each to their own obviously but could buy a house with that. And, let's be honest, there's a 50/50 chance of divorce.' Several others, however, defended Christina as they said she could spend her money the way she likes. 'It was your day. If you can afford it, enjoy it. Ignore the haters,' one comment read. Another added: 'If you didn't go broke or into a lifetime of debt to pay for this - you win.

Spotify threatens to DELETE accounts or face being blocked from popular features in huge shake-up

SPOTIFY is making strict changes to its popular music app that could see some accounts deleted in the wake of new UK age checks. The world's biggest music streaming platform has started showing popups asking people to confirm their age to access certain content meant for adults. 2 2 This can appear for things like a music video flagged as 18+. Users can choose to confirm their age by sharing a selfie or their ID, a move that's been seen across multiple sites in the last week to comply with the Online Safety Act. The new law is designed to protect children from easily stumbling across inappropriate material on the internet. Those who see the notification can choose to dismiss it - but doing so block them from using the feature they're trying to access. If a user does submit details to confirm their age and they're found to be under 18 the account "will be deactivated and eventually deleted" according to Spotify 's information page. "We are now expanding testing of improved age assurance technologies to select markets, utilizing our own internal age estimation technology and partnering with Yoti, a trusted digital identity company," the firm said. "This technology will help us identify if users are of eligible age to access some Spotify content and features." The UK's new Online Safety Act applies to any platform with content not deemed suitable for children. While this has mainly affected porn sites, other services such as Reddit have had to comply too with checks on pages considered too adult. Some 6,000 porn sites complied in time with the shake-up deadline last Friday. Spotify's new AI feature lets you ask it to make any playlist for you – but there's a trick to finding it in the app Ofcom is in charge of checking that websites follow the rules. Those that don't risk a hefty fine or being banned entirely from appearing in the UK. Today, the regulator launched its first investigation since it all came into force. It revealed that 34 porn sites are under investigation over concerns whether they have "highly effective age checks" in place. Robin Tombs, CEO at Yoti, which has created some of the age check systems in use, said: "We're proud to be working with Spotify to help create safer, age-appropriate experiences. ""Spotify fans can access and enjoy a broad array of features and content, whilst young people will be better protected from the risk of accessing inappropriate experiences. "We're excited to be working closely with the Spotify team on this innovative partnership - enhancing trust and safety for users around the world."
