
E-W's Esp-Sealdah leg gets fire dept nod

Esplanade-Sealdah section
has received the
fire safety certificate
. In the run-up to the section's launch, 90 services will be operated in the Sealdah-Sector V section on Tuesday instead of the usual 106.
The endorsement from the state fire department is a prerequisite for approval from the
Commission of Railway Safety
(CRS). On April 12, fire inspections were carried out along the 2.6km leg. The CRS inspected the stretch on Sunday.

When the CRS' nod comes, the East-West Metro will complete its entire 16.6 km journey from Sector V to Howrah Maidan. The corridor, also known as the Green Line, now runs in two sections – the 9.4 km Sector V-Sealdah and the 4.8 km Esplanade-Howrah Maidan. The Esplanade-Sealdah section will link the two sections.
In the run-up to the entire Green Line's launch, Green Line-1 (Sealdah-Sector V) will run 90 services on Tuesday. Normal services will run along Green Line-2 (Howrah Maidan-Esplanade).

Over 37,000 farmers enrolled for natural farming in AP: Centre
Vijayawada: Union Minister of state for agriculture and farmers welfare Ramnath Thakur said Central government is actively promoting natural farming across the country through the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF). He said over 14.32 lakh farmers have registered under the mission, covering 5.45 lakh hectares of agricultural land nationwide. Responding to a question raised in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday by MPs Kesineni Sivanath and Daggubati Prasad Rao, the Union minister of state provided a written reply detailing the progress of the mission. He said in Andhra Pradesh 37,387 farmers have registered their names under NMNF, with natural farming being practised on 5,699.2 hectares. The state has received an allocation of Rs.1,099.20 crore of which Rs.549.60 crore has already been released. The Union minister further stated that the state has also established 2,522 Natural Farming Clusters, and conducted 52 Farmer Field School (FFS) training programs to equip farmers with sustainable farming techniques. Additionally, 112 Local Natural Farming Institutions (LNFIs) in Andhra Pradesh have been selected as Model Knowledge Dissemination Centres, all operated by experienced and skilled farmers. However, the Minister clarified that no Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in the state has been selected as a model center under this initiative. The minister said the core objectives of the National Mission on Natural Farming include increasing awareness about natural farming practices, reducing chemical usage in agriculture, promoting environmental sustainability, lowering input costs for farmers and improving soil health and fertility.

COMEDK Counselling 2025: Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka has declared the COMEDK Round 2 Seat Allotment Results 2025 on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Metro Railway to run more trains on Kolkata's Green Line, Purple Line from August 11
Synopsis Kolkata Metro is set to boost its services. More trains will run on Green Line-1, Green Line-2, and Purple Line. The increased services will start on August 11. Green Line-1 will have 108 trains. Green Line-2 will operate 134 trains. Purple Line will see 80 trains running. Service hours will also be extended on all three lines. Kolkata, To meet the demand of commuters, Metro Railway Kolkata will increase train services on the Green Line-1, Green Line-2 and Purple Line from August 11, an official statement said. On Green Line - 1 (Sealdah-Salt Lake Sector V), a total of 108 trains (54 UP + 54 DN) will be operated, the statement said on Saturday.. At present, 106 trains (53 UP + 53 DN) are being operated daily from Monday to Saturday on Green hours on this corridor will also increase from 6:35 am to 10 pm instead of 6:55 am to 10 train services will be available in Green Line 1 on Sundays. On Green Line - 2 (Howrah Maidan to Esplanade), a total of 134 trains (67 UP + 67 DN) will be operated from August present, 130 trains (65 UP + 65 DN) are being operated daily from Monday to Saturday on Green hours on this corridor will go up from 6:30 am to 9:53 pm instead of 7 am to 9:53 pm at train services will be available on Sundays in this corridor as usual.
