How "Mooli Devi" Faked Identity, Worked As Cop In Rajasthan For 2 Years
A woman has been arrested after masquerading for nearly two years as a police sub-inspector inside the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA), attending training sessions, wearing official uniforms, and even posing for photographs with senior police officials. However, the Rajasthan Police Academy has stated that it is impossible to reach the classroom and the indoor training facilities of RPA.
The accused, identified as Mona Bugalia, alias Mooli, was arrested earlier this week from Rajasthan's Sikar district. She had been on the run since 2023, when a complaint was first lodged against her in Jaipur.
According to the police, Bugalia had successfully entered the state's premier police training institution without ever passing the sub-inspector recruitment examination.
Following her arrest, police searched a rented room associated with Bugalia and recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash, three separate police uniforms, and examination papers from the Rajasthan Police Academy. Forged documents that had been used to support her false identity and background have also been recovered.
According to the police, Bugalia is from Nimba Ke Bas, a village in Rajasthan's Nagaur district. Her father is a truck driver. Official records confirm she never passed the Rajasthan sub-inspector recruitment exam. After failing to qualify in 2021, she created false documents under the name "Mooli Devi" and circulated a message on social media claiming that she had been selected as a sub-inspector.
Subsequently, she joined a WhatsApp group meant exclusively for sub-inspector recruits and presented herself at the Rajasthan Police Academy under the guise of a candidate from an earlier batch, one enrolled through the sports quota.
For nearly two years, Bugalia was seen regularly at RPA's parade grounds in full uniform. She participated in outdoor drills, posed for photographs with ranking officers, and posted motivational content and reels on social media, all while passing herself off as a serving officer.
In one such instance, she delivered career awareness speeches from a public stage wearing full police uniform. Images show her standing next to senior police officials, including IPS officers while offering motivational advice to young aspirants.
Despite the high-security nature of the police academy, Bugalia allegedly managed to access restricted outdoor training zones.
Bugalia's deception began unravelling when certain trainee sub-inspectors raised doubts about her identity. Senior officers were informed, and an internal inquiry was initiated. During questioning, Bugalia admitted she had assumed the fake identity. She confessed that she had not only wanted to impress her family, which includes four sisters, but also sought to exploit the powers associated with the police.
The incident has provoked a reaction from Vijay Kumbhar, a social activist, who called it a symptom of "systemic rot."
"Mona Bugalia failed the cop exam in 2021. So she changed her name, forged documents, and got into the Jaipur Police Academy as 'Mooli Devi.' For two years, she trained, made reels with IPS officers, played tennis with ADGs, and extorted people. Nobody noticed she wasn't even real. Now arrested. No background check. No verification. Nothing," Mr Kumbhar said in a social media post. "You verify the whole world, but not your own recruits? This isn't just a lapse. It's institutional rot."
Further investigation is underway, police said.

Cocaine Worth Over Rs 60 Crore Seized From Woman At Mumbai Airport, Arrested
Mumbai: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai, has seized cocaine worth Rs 62.6 crore from an Indian woman at Mumbai International Airport, an official said on Monday. Specific intelligence developed by officers of DRI Mumbai indicated that one female Indian national, coming from Doha to Mumbai on July 14, would be smuggling narcotics into India. Acting on the intelligence, DRI Mumbai officers intercepted the female passenger upon her arrival at Mumbai Airport on Monday. A thorough examination of her baggage led to the recovery of six Oreo boxes and three chocolate boxes. On opening, all nine boxes were found to contain capsules filled with a white powdery substance purported to be cocaine. A total of 300 such capsules were recovered. All capsules were individually tested using the field test kit, which showed a positive result for cocaine. A total of 6261 grams of cocaine with an estimated value of Rs 62.6 crore in the illicit market, was recovered and seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. In addition, the passenger was arrested. Further investigation is in progress. "The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) stands at the forefront of combating drug trafficking in India, playing a pivotal role in intercepting illicit narcotics, dismantling trafficking networks, and safeguarding national security," said an official statement. Earlier on July 8, the Airport Intelligence Unit (AIU) at Tiruchi International Airport seized 11.8 kilograms of high-grade hydroponic cannabis. The narcotics, valued at around Rs 12 crore in the illegal market, were found in the baggage of a passenger who had arrived from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur. According to airport customs officials, the interception was based on specific intelligence inputs shared by the DRI. The AIU officials acted swiftly upon the arrival of the passenger and detained him for detailed screening and baggage inspection. During the search, officials discovered 28 neatly packed pouches of hydroponic cannabis -- an advanced, soil-free variety of marijuana grown using nutrient-rich water under controlled conditions, making it far more potent than conventional strains. The packets were ingeniously concealed within personal belongings to evade detection.

Two get life sentences for kidnapping, brutal murder
New Delhi [India], July 15 (ANI): Delhi's Rohini District Court has recently sentenced two men to life imprisonment for murder, Kidnapping and destruction of evidence. This case pertains to an FIR lodged at the Narela Police Station in 2017. The deceased Om Hare was kidnapped by convicts with premeditated planning, and thereafter, his body was disposed of by both the convicts. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Vandana sentenced Navrattan alias Kale and Naushad to life imprisonment for murdering Om Hare. ASJ Vandana observed, 'The nature of the offence committed in the present case is very serious.' 'The deceased was kidnapped by convicts with premeditated planning and brutally murdered, and thereafter, both the convicts disposed of his body,' ASJ Vandana said in the order passed on July 4. Additionally, the court has imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on each accused. During arguements on sentence, additional public prosecutor (APP) Vinit Dahiya argued that convicts deserve no leniency since the deceased was brutally murdered by them. He further argued that the present case falls under the category of the rarest of rare cases. He prayed for maximum punishment for both convicts. On the other hand, counsel for accused persons prayed for leniency in punishment for convicts. The counsel for the convict, Naushad, stated that the convict has two minor children who are completely dependent upon him. The counsel for the convict Navratan further submitted that convicts belong to poor strata of society, hence, a prayer was made for taking a lenient view against the convicts, considering the facts that they have no previous conviction records and have been in Judicial Custodyfor so many years. Singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria claims he was shot at in Gurgaon
Haryanvi singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria has alleged that unknown assailants in a car shot at him on Monday on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) near Badshahpur in Gurgaon's Sector 71. He escaped unhurt. Police said a probe has been launched into the incident. 'No one has been injured, nor has any vehicle been hit by a bullet in this incident. The Gurugram Police's Scene of Crime team reached the location. The alleged gunshot has not been confirmed so far. The incident is being investigated from all angles,' read an official statement by the city police. The 35-year-old singer-rapper called up the local station house officer (SHO) to inform them about the incident, said sources. He was allegedly standing near his SUV when the attackers came in another car. Soon after, he sat in his car and sped away. The attacker could not chase him due to the traffic, and he managed to escape, police were told. According to him, the attackers fired at him multiple times, but he was not injured and his vehicle was not damaged, sources added. An officer said that a team immediately rushed to the spot as soon as they got the information. A senior officer said the CCTV cameras installed nearby are being checked to identify the accused. Sources said police had earlier received a tip-off over a threat to a singer living in Gurgaon. The singer-rapper, who has been promoting Haryanvi folk music, has several hits to his credit. In 2014, he rose to fame with his rap song 'Ladki Kar Gayi Chull', which also featured in the Bollywood movie 'Kapoor and Sons', starring Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Fawad Khan. Fazilpuria had unsuccessfully contested the Lok Sabha election in 2024 from Gurgaon as a Jannayak Janta Party candidate against Congress's Raj Babbar and BJP's Rao Inderjit Singh, who was elected. The JJP was founded in 2018 by Dushyant Chautala, former deputy chief minister of Haryana. Last year, he was booked by the Gurgaon Police along with YouTuber Elvish Yadav, for allegedly using rare species of snakes and a .32 bore pistol in a music video. The duo was also questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with allegations linked to money laundering and rave parties. The agency had confiscated movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 58 lakh allegedly belonging to the duo under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with a similar snake venom case registered by the Noida Police.
