WATCH: Highlights from New Orleans City Council's 'Cam Jordan Day' celebration
The New Orleans City Council celebrated Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan on Thursday, naming May 8 "Cam Jordan Day" in recognition of his achievements on the football field and his dedication to the community. The Edna Karr High School band greeted Jordan and his family as they arrived.
Inside the City Council Chambers, Saints owner Gayle Benson welcomed Jordan and delivered a speech celebrating his accomplishments in the NFL, like the team sacks record; she made sure to emphasize Jordan's 23 sacks against former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, his longtime rival. Jordan's former teammate and fellow 2011 draftee Mark Ingram II narrated a video highlighting Jordan's work in the community visiting schools and leading fundraisers for charitable causes. Several familiar faces were in attendance including Craig Robertson, who was a team captain with Jordan from 2017 to 2020.

"Being in New Orleans, you catch the feeling, you catch the vibe. It's so hard not to want to be a part of it," Jordan said in a speech of his own. He gave credit to other old teammates like Will Smith and Thomas Morstead as veterans who showed him everything great about the city and community he was joining.
Remember the line from Drew Brees? If you love New Orleans, New Orleans will love you back. Jordan will suit up for the Saints for maybe the final time in 2025. He's embraced the city throughout his career, and now he's getting the recognition he deserves.

'The NBA on NBC was a meaningful part of my career, and I'm excited about being a special contributor to the project. I'm looking forward to seeing you all when the NBA on NBC launches this October,' he said in a statement at the time. Michael Jordan enjoys a cigar aboard his $115 million yacht. LSU football QB Garrett Nussmeier makes appearance at New Orleans Saints minicamp
LSU football QB Garrett Nussmeier makes appearance at New Orleans Saints minicamp LSU football quarterback Garrett Nussmeier appeared at the New Orleans Saints minicamp this week. As Nussmeier prepares to begin his fifth year at LSU, Nussmeier's Dad, Doug Nussmeier, is getting ready for year one as the Saints' offensive coordinator. Nussmeier worked alongside new Saints head coach Kellen Moore in Philadelphia. Moore intends to call the plays, but tabbing a familiar face in Nussmeier to administer the offense made perfect sense. While at the camp, Nussmeier was seen talking to Moore. He also took time to sign autographs. There's already speculation about Nussmeier being an option for the Saints in the 2026 NFL Draft. Nussmeier is expected to be one of the top QBs on the board, and the Saints are projected to have one of the top picks. The Saints picked QB Tyler Shough in the 2025 draft, but there are questions about his long-term viability as the Saints' starter. Nussmeier was one of the best quarterbacks in the country as LSU finished the season on a three-game win streak. According to BetMGM, Nussmeier ranks No. 2 on the Heisman Trophy odds board, only trailing Texas QB Arch Manning. 2024 was Nussmeier's first season as LSU's full-time starter. In four years at LSU, Nussmeier has 5,772 yards and 40 touchdowns.
