Cameron Jordan's game-winning sack vs. Falcons is the Saints Play of the Day
Cameron Jordan's game-winning sack vs. Falcons is the Saints Play of the Day Jordan sealed a win in Atlanta on Thanksgiving Day back in 2019 There are 94 days to go until the New Orleans Saints start their 2025 season, which makes one of Cameron Jordan's best moments our pick for the Saints Play of the Day. Facing the archrival Atlanta Falcons back in 2019 with an NFC South title on the line, Jordan led the Saints defense with a standout performance that won him recognition as the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. Jordan was credited with four sacks, six tackles, and a pass deflection on the Thanksgiving Day nightcap. And his best play of the day sealed the win for New Orleans. Jordan sacked Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan for a fourth time on fourth down. Holding onto a 26-18 lead with the possibility of overtime in play, Jordan rushed off the left side and got past rookie first-round pick Kaleb McGary. Ryan never saw him coming, and Jordan brought the QB down for a turnover on downs with just seconds remaining. Drew Brees kneeled to run out the clock and the Saints won the day, and a division championship, too. You can see that highlight and all of Jordan's big plays here.

Countdown to Kickoff: Cameron Jordan is the Saints Player of Day 94
Countdown to Kickoff: Cameron Jordan is the Saints Player of Day 94 Jordan continues an iconic career with the Saints heading into Year 15 Today marks 94 days before the New Orleans Saints officially start their 59th NFL season with a regular season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. The No. 94 has been worn by a few greats in New Orleans Saints history. None have been greater than Cameron Jordan, who has spent 14 iconic years in the Saints' No. 94. Here's a closer look at Cam, our Saints Player of the Day, as he begins Year 15. Name (Age): Cameron Jordan (35) Cameron Jordan (35) Hometown: Chandler, Ariz. Chandler, Ariz. Position: Defensive end Defensive end Height, weight: 6-foot-4, 287 pounds 6-foot-4, 287 pounds Relative Athletic Score: 8.86 8.86 College: California Golden Bears California Golden Bears Drafted: Round 1, 24th overall in 2011 (New Orleans Saints) Round 1, 24th overall in 2011 (New Orleans Saints) NFL experience: 15 seasons 15 seasons 2025 salary cap hit: $9,775,000 Son of Steve Jordan, a six-time Pro Bowl tight end with the Minnesota Vikings from 1982 to 1994, Cam went on to forge his own legacy that surpassed his father's. Cam was a football and track star at Chandler High School in Arizona. He was a three-star football recruit that decided on the University of California at Berkeley, but also won the Arizona 5A state championship in the discus and had a top-10 placement in the shot put. In four years at Cal, Jordan compiled 16.5 sacks and 35 tackles for loss while intercepting a pass and scoring two defensive touchdowns. As a senior in 2010, Jordan earned 1st Team All-Pac-10 and Honorable Mention All-American honors. New Orleans then selected Jordan in a loaded first round of the 2011 draft that also included star defenders Von Miller, Patrick Peterson, J.J. Watt, Robert Quinn, Ryan Kerrigan, and Cameron Heyward. In his 2011 rookie season, Jordan didn't make a great impact with 1 sack and 4 QB hits despite 16 games of action. After that, he'd become one of the greatest players in New Orleans franchise history. He'd be one of the league's most consistent pass rushers, but his outstanding run defense made him perhaps the NFL's finest all-around defensive linemen. Jordan stayed on the field in nearly every situation, yet showed remarkable durability. Despite an annual high snap count, he's missed only two of a possible 239 starts in his 14 years. Cam Jordan has 121.5 official regular season sacks, surpassing Hall of Fame Dome Patrol linebacker Rickey Jackson for the franchise's all-time lead. He's had double-digit sack totals five times, with an additional five years with at least 7.5 sacks. He trails only Von Miller (129.5) in sacks among active players and ranks 27th in NFL history in that category. Jordan's standout run defense has been mentioned. His 160 career tackles for loss ranks fourth among active players and 10th all-time since the NFL began tracking that statistic in 1999. Additionally, Jordan has forced 15 career fumbles, has broken up or tipped 65 passes, and has 3 interceptions. Jordan has been voted to eight Pro Bowls, surpassing his father's total and second in franchise history behind only Drew Brees. He also earned a 1st Team All-Pro honor in 2017 and two 2nd Team All-Pro accolades in 2018 and 2019. Perhaps indicative of Jordan's consistently top-level performance is the fact that he was voted onto the NFL's 2010s All-Decade Team. There have been six players in Saints history to wear the No. 94. Two of them, defensive ends Jim Wilks and Joe Johnson, are in the Saints Hall of Fame. Another, defensive end Charles Grant, also had a terrific career in New Orleans. Cameron Jordan has surpassed them all. His place in the Saints Hall of Fame upon his eventual retirement is secure and he should wind up with his bust in Canton as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

94 days until Saints' season opener: Every player to wear No. 94
94 days until Saints' season opener: Every player to wear No. 94 From Jim Wilks to Cameron Jordan Our countdown to the start of the New Orleans Saints' 2025 season continues with Day 94, which means we're looking back at every player to wear that jersey number for the Saints. No. 94, of course, belongs to Cameron Jordan. And he's worn it a long time -- he's going on Year 15. But he wasn't the first player to put it on. He's the latest great Saints defender to wear it, following in the footsteps of guys like Jim Wilks (who appeared in 187 games with the Saints, including the playoffs), Joe Johnson (a two-time Pro Bowler and the 2000 Comeback Player of the Year), and Charles Grant (who earned a championship ring for his efforts in Super Bowl XLIV). With 94 days to go until the 2024 season kickoffs, here's the full list of players to wear No. 94 with the Saints (via Pro Football Reference): Jim Wilks (1981-1993) Joe Johnson (1994-2001) Charles Grant (2002-2009) Kawika Mitchell (2010) K.C. Asiodu (2010) Cameron Jordan (2011-Present)

Saints' Cameron Jordan Named a Potential Trade Target for Lions
Saints' Cameron Jordan Named a Potential Trade Target for Lions originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There are still options out there for the Detroit Lions to get themselves an upgrade at they second edge spot. Advertisement Za'Darius Smith, Jadeveon Clowney, Carl Lawson, and Matthew Judon are all available in free agency. However, those might not be the only options for the Lions to find an edge. Detroit Lions general manager Brad HolmesKirby Lee-Imagn Images A to Z Sports' Mike Payton sees a trade the Lions could make to get themselves another pass rusher. Payton recently named New Orleans Saints edge Cameron Jordan as a potential trade target for the Lions ahead of training camp. Moving on from Jordan doesn't do a whole lot for the Saints. They would save just $1.26 million in cap space by trading him and wouldn't get much trade capital in return for him. The move makes a lot more sense for the Lions. They still don't have a dependable second edge on the roster. Jordan could be that for them. Advertisement He certainly isn't still at the Pro Bowl level we saw of much of his NFL career, but last season he proved that he still has something to offer. In 2024, Jordan had four sacks and 28 total pressures. He also had 21 stops, which was good for 45th at his position according to Pro Football Focus. It wouldn't be the most awe-inspiring move, but it would give the Lions somebody more dependable than Marcus Davenport. It also wouldn't cost much because the Saints would eat most of his money, which seems to be the most important factor for the organization right now. New Orleans City Council declares May 8 'Cam Jordan Day'
Congratulations are in order for Cameron Jordan. The New Orleans City Council will declare May 8 "Cam Jordan Day" in recognition to his contributions to the city in his 14-year career with the Saints. The occasion will be marked with an event from the City Council on Thursday, May 8 at 9 a.m. CT. Jordan, who turns 36 in July, has earned his place as one of the greatest players in franchise history. He owns the Saints' official all-time sacks record with 6.5 more takedowns than Rickey Jackson had before he went into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He's three games away from breaking the record Drew Brees set for the most games played in black and gold. Advertisement And his efforts to be a good citizen and make a positive impact on the community are even greater. Every week, usually on Tuesdays during the season when players have a day off from practice, Jordan has visited a local school in the New Orleans area to speak with students and offer words of encouragement. He's used his platform to reach out to thousands of young fans over the years. That's commendable. So now he's getting some well-deserved recognition from the city. Good for him. Maybe in a few years after retirement he'll start making these appearances while wearing a gold jacket.
