British chart-topper axes full comeback album amid fears it would flop
The singer, whose previous album About Last Night came out in 2022, said she felt pressure to live up to her debut, High Expectations.

It won her a Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist.
Mabel said on TikTok: 'I did scrap an album.
"I kept waiting for this moment like, 'Now's the time to put out an album', but inevitably you change, you grow, and the music you made last year or the year before, you've kind of outgrown it.'
She added: 'People expect you to do certain things and get certain accolades again like it's easy.
"But that has been crippling, mentally and creatively, for me for years.'
Cardi's love boat
CARDI B put the boot into her ex-husband Offset by going Instagram official with American football player Stefon Diggs.
The WAP rapper has been rowing with the Migos musician for weeks, with him seeking spousal support from her in their divorce, which she is arguing against.

But Cardi made it clear he's the last thing on her mind as she confirmed her romance with Stefon in sexy snaps on a yacht.
Good for her.
SAM IN THE KIT PARADE

My exclusive pictures show Sam on set at the Tyneside Irish Centre, just over the road from St James' Park, as he filmed the new ad with more than 100 extras.
My source said: 'As well as the Adidas ad tying in to Sam's massive People Watching tour which kicks off in London on Friday, it will be used to launch Newcastle's new third kit.
'He arrived at 3pm and filmed for five hours with loads of extras. Sam was decked out head to toe in Adidas and played his guitar. He was on top form and everyone who met him said he was absolutely lovely.
'It was a long shoot but everyone who took part got to take home a pair of brand new trainers as a treat.
'Sam is really pleased with how the ad looks and so are the big cheeses at Newcastle United.'
Since his debut album Hypersonic Missiles, which went straight to No1 in 2019, Sam has been on the most incredible rise.
I've no doubt the journey is going to get even more exciting for Sam in the years to come.
And now he's got some lovely new clobber to wear while he's doing it.
MILEY CYRUS is battling it out with Garbage to score her third No1 album on Friday.
Her album Something Beautiful is in the lead to top the charts.
But just behind her is Garbage's new record Let All That We Imagine Be The Light.
They may face opposition from Taylor Swift, whose album Reputation is at No8 in midweek figures.
NADINE TO TELL ALL IN MEMOIR
NADINE COYLE has risked falling out with her Girls Aloud mates again with a memoir that promises to 'tell all' on their career, including notorious 'bust-ups'.
She reunited with Cheryl Tweedy, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh last summer for a successful UK tour after patching up their differences.
9
But I imagine they might be more than a little worried about what Nadine has written in the book, called Loud: Diary Of A Derry Girl.
It is due to be released in time for Christmas, with details about it leaking online after Amazon put up a pre-order link early, seemingly by accident.
A description said it will be 'an intimate tell-all account' of her life.
It added: 'This is her story, a story full of friendships, a lot of laughs,
some bust-ups and just a whole lot of pop.'
It's also likely to touch on her close friendship with bandmate Sarah Harding, who died from cancer in 2021, so I'm sure it will be an emotional read.
RADIO 2 In The Park is heading to Chelmsford, Essex, for three days from September 5-7.
The annual music festival will take place in Hylands Park, with tickets going on sale at 8.30am tomorrow.
That will follow the line-up announcement during Scott Mills' breakfast show this morning.
JOJO: HEAD OVER HEELS FOR CHRIS
JOJO SIWA has finally confirmed her romance with reality no-mark Chris Hughes, two months after meeting in the Celebrity Big Brother house.
Jojo split with her partner hours after leaving the ITV show in April.

She said in a new interview: 'It's not platonic any more.
'It's been a beautiful development, a beautiful connection, and I'm absolutely head over heels for him and he's the same way.'
Hitting back at critics, she added: 'Anyone who suggests the relationship is a PR stunt is only telling on themselves.
'Clearly, you've never been around us.
'I won't ever speak for him, but for me personally, the happiness in my life just radiates off of me right now.'
Alexandra vamps it up
ALEXANDRA BURKE looks incredible as she prepares to take on the role of Morticia in The Addams Family musical comedy.
She got into character ahead of the UK tour which starts in Birmingham on July 10.
The production will tour other spots including Leicester, Salford, Canterbury and Blackpool.
But while Alexandra has made a name for herself as a stage actress, she will return to music.
On taking a break to have her two children, Alexandra said: 'Babies happened. One planned. Another baby happened . . . wasn't planned.
'But the plan is music. I'm hopefully coming back, I promise.'

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac handed popularity reality check as fans don't hold back
A new poll shows most Premier League fans don't want Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac owning their clubs, despite Wrexham continuing to thrive under their celebrity stewardship Wrexham co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac have been handed a reality check on the extent of their popularity. The two actors have taken the football world by storm since buying the Welsh club in February 2021. The Red Dragons have registered three promotions in a row, lifting them from the National League to the Championship. Wrexham have also attracted a global fanbase after their achievements were highlighted on the Welcome to Wrexham documentary. However, while supporters in the North Wales city are more than happy to have the A-list pair on board, a new poll shows not every fanbase would be. Betfair's annual 'Nation Predicts' survey shows 66 per cent of more than 2,000 football lovers questioned wouldn't be interested in Reynolds and Mac owning their club. Liverpool and Newcastle supporters were most against the idea of Hollywood ownership. The findings of the poll conducted by YouGov Sport are perhaps unsurprising given the two clubs' relative satisfaction with their current owners, who are also far richer than the Wrexham pair. The Reds lifted the Premier League title last season and a summer of big spending has followed under owners Fenway Sports Group. Meanwhile, Newcastle, backed by the Saudi Public Investment Fund, clinched their first piece of major silverware since 1969 by winning the Carabao Cup. Manchester United fans were the most receptive to the idea of Reynolds and Mac taking the helm, with 27 per cent supportive of the prospect, compared to 56 per cent against. That could potentially be down to significant discontent with the Glazer family's ownership and, more recently, the partial takeover by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Surprisingly, 69 per cent of Tottenham supporters were against the notion of the Hollywood duo taking charge, with only 21 per cent in favour. That's despite Spurs fans often voicing their anger at chairman Daniel Levy over the club's fortunes in recent years. While supporters of Premier League sides might turn their noses up at Reynolds and Mac, who recently filed to legally change his surname from McElhenney, their stock in Wrexham remains as high as ever. And former England goalkeeper Nigel Martyn also believes that celebrity ownership can provide a net benefit for football after highlighting the progress enjoyed by Wrexham and Birmingham City, who are part-owned by NFL legend Tom Brady. Speaking to Parimatch, Martyn said: "I think it's been a breath of fresh air if I'm totally honest. Seeing things like the Wrexham documentary on television and how open they've been with everything is great for the game. "They're popular people and while Ryan Reynolds is somebody that most people think, 'Yeah, he looks like he's a nice guy and he's funny,' both he and Rob McElhenney are serious about how they run the football club as well. "You won't hear anyone in Wrexham say a bad thing about them, I wouldn't imagine, because they've turned them around from a team that had been out of the Football League to one which I expect to see pushing into the higher echelons and the Premier League. It's been tremendous. "Anything that boosts the club and the standing of your club in a positive way is a good thing. To have Tom Brady at Birmingham City, for Birmingham fans, it makes them stick their chest out a little bit further and say, 'Look who we've got now.'" He added: "So far, Wrexham have done it tremendously well and Birmingham appear to be making progress. In all honesty, it doesn't matter how much money you throw at it, there is no guarantee that you're going to win the league. But, so far, both teams have bounced up the leagues pretty well. "Fair play to them, it's going to be interesting but I think it's a positive thing, definitely, and celebrity ownership, with people trying to copy Wrexham and Birmingham, is probably something we'll see more and more and more of." BBC edit ANOTHER MasterChef contestant out of scandal-ridden series after axing hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace - and sparking fan fury
Yet another MasterChef contestant has been edited out of the scandal-ridden cooking series - despite the BBC having already sacked hosts John Torode and Gregg Wallace. Sarah Shafi and another contestant who wanted to remain anonymous said they did not want to appear in the series given 'recent events', according to The Sun. Sarah previously said she felt 'pressured' to accept show bosses' offer to cut her from the final edits completely. This means the show's upcoming season, yet to be aired, will be heavily edited the whole way through so as not to include two competitors. It follows a report which upheld damning claims against once-beloved host Gregg Wallace, and use of unacceptable language by John Torode. At the end of last year, Wallace was accused of making sexualised jokes and other inappropriate remarks towards a range of women, with claims dating back as far as 19 years. Since then, more than 50 people have approached the BBC with fresh claims about the presenter - including allegations he groped a MasterChef worker and pulled his trousers down in front of another. Wallace denies the claims, but was sacked by BBC bosses in November last year. The upheld complaint against Torode related to his allegedly using an extremely offensive racist term on the set of MasterChef in 2018. The beloved cooking competition has since been mired in scandal, with many watchers and even former contestants calling for the series to be axed. Sarah Shafi, of Leeds, said she felt airing MasterChef would send the wrong message about what happens when women report misconduct by men in positions of power. The 57-year-old told The Guardian: 'I said: "Axe the show, don't air the show. I'm asking you not to air the show." 'Prominent figures have been abusing their power. What message does that send out to women?' Sarah revealed she was left 'flabbergasted' after being edited out of the hit cooking competition following a heated conversation where she felt pressured to agree to the cut. 'Women are being silenced,' she said. Sarah claimed she was 'eyed up and ogled' by Gregg Wallace on the show, while accusing the TV host of making an 'off' comment about his reputation with women. Unable to remember the exchange verbatim, she told Newsnight: 'I just stood there, I didn't know how to respond to that. And that I just thought, "Where's that come from? Why was he saying that to me?" 'And then later he came a bit closer and made a comment that I was really amazing and I thought, "It's weird, but I'll take it." But I thought, "I just don't like it." I felt it was off.' MasterChef viewers have been left divided as the controversial 21st series arrived on BBC iPlayer before its TV premiere after the BBC's decision to air the episodes. The popular show return to television screens earlier this month after a last-minute scramble to re-edit it and limit the appearances of Wallace and Torode. Both presenters had been axed from hosting future iterations of the long-running cookery contest. Ahead of its debut on linear television, the first three episodes of MasterChef have been made available to watch immediately on catch up. However, as fans tuck into the under-fire culinary series, they've been left divided as they flocked to social media to share their thoughts. One viewer blasted the BBC as 'disgusting' and added that the corporation 'have nothing to be proud of'.

Second MasterChef contestant edited out of new series after presenters sacked
A second MasterChef contestant has been edited out of the current BBC One series, which has faced controversy and seen both presenters dropped from their roles. It was previously announced that Sarah Shafi had been removed from the show after asking for it not to be broadcast, following a report that upheld claims against hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode. Advertisement A spokesperson for the show's production company, Banijay UK, said: 'One other contributor decided that, given recent events, they would like not to be included. We have, of course, accepted their wishes and edited them out of the show.' In November 2024, it was announced that Wallace would step away from his role on the BBC cooking show while historical allegations of misconduct were investigated, and last month, a statement from Banijay UK and the BBC said they had agreed 'Mr Wallace's return to MasterChef is untenable'. Former MasterChef presenters John Torode and Gregg Wallace (BBC/ShineTV/PA) Wallace, 60, issued an apology saying he was 'deeply sorry for any distress caused' and that he 'never set out to harm or humiliate' in the wake of the Lewis Silkin review, which saw 45 out of 83 allegations made against him upheld. Torode, 60, was the subject of an allegation about using racist language that was upheld as part of the review, but the TV star said he had 'no recollection of the incident' and was 'shocked and saddened' by the claim. Advertisement The PA news agency understands the second contestant to be edited out of the show has asked not to be identified and will not feature in the show. Last month, the BBC confirmed the series, which was filmed last year before allegations against Wallace and Torode were upheld, would be broadcast in August, adding that it had 'not been an easy decision in the circumstances.' It added: 'In showing the series, which was filmed last year, it in no way diminishes our view of the seriousness of the upheld findings against both presenters. We have been very clear on the standards of behaviour that we expect of those who work at the BBC or on shows made for the BBC. 'However, we believe that broadcasting this series is the right thing to do for these cooks who have given so much to the process. We want them to be properly recognised and give the audience the choice to watch the series. Advertisement 'At this stage, we have not taken a decision on the celebrity series and Christmas special, which was filmed earlier this year, and we will confirm our plans later in the year.' In an interview with The Sun last month, Wallace apologised to anyone hurt by his behaviour but insisted he is 'not a groper, a sex pest or a flasher'.
