Orange Walk to draw 3,000 marchers on Ayrshire streets as council warns of disruption
North Ayrshire Council has issued a warning that an Orange Walk planned for Saturday could cause disruption.
Around 3,000 marchers are set to take the streets of Ayrshire in an Orange Walk as the local council warns of disruption.
On Saturday morning, an orange march will commence in Kilbirnie, with North Ayrshire Council expecting the procession to attract 3,000 people from several flute bands.
It will kick off in Kilbirnie's public park at 11.30am before making it's way towards the town centre.
North Ayrshire Council have warned locals that the march could cause traffic delays and advised them to plan their journeys ahead of time.
A council statement on X said: "An Orange Order parade will take place in Kilbirnie this Saturday, 28 June.
"The parade, which may attract up to 3,000 participants, is scheduled to start at 11.30am at the public park and will make its way to the town centre. Therefore, please plan any journeys, as there is likely to be disruption to traffic."
Flute bands are preparing for the march, including the Newton Defenders Flute Band, who wrote on social media: "Next parade for the band is our 'Big Ayrshire walk'.
"This year's main parade takes place in Kilbirnie. The band will continue our long-standing friendship with Scotlands own Volunteers LOL 330.
"The band hope the worthy master, officers and brothers enjoy the day. We look forward to many more years walking with the lodge that the band has such strong connections with."

Brian May in shock over claims Freddie Mercury fathered secret lovechild
Brian May has poured cold water on rumours that Freddie Mercury secretly fathered a child during an alleged affair, with the Queen guitarist casting doubt on the sensational claims. Queen legend Brian May has been left stunned by bombshell claims that Freddie Mercury secretly fathered a child — but says he's not convinced. His wife, EastEnders icon Anita Dobson, revealed her jaw dropped when she heard the shocking news: 'I went 'what?' I thought, 'No!' I said to Brian: 'Do you know about this?' And he said: 'Do you believe this?'' The jaw-dropping claims come from a new biography by author Lesley-Ann Jones, who says Freddie has a 48-year-old daughter known only as 'B' — and insists she has DNA proof to back it up, reports the Mirror. The writer claims the child was conceived in 1976 during an affair between Freddie and the wife of a close friend. The woman now lives in Europe and is a mum herself. She says the Bohemian Rhapsody singer kept in regular contact, called her daily while on tour, and even gave her 17 volumes of handwritten journals before his tragic death in 1991. But Anita isn't buying it — and says it's hard to believe such a huge secret could've stayed buried for decades. She said: 'There must be lots of people who have children that we don't know about. It's just because it's him. Because he's iconic. And the type of animal that he was, it seems inconceivable that he would have a child with someone we don't know about. "If he does have one where is she - step forward. If she exists. Maybe it is just more fake news.' The book, titled 'Love, Freddie', is due out in September and claims Mercury even told his Queen bandmates about the girl. In a letter printed in the book, B writes: 'Freddie Mercury was and is my father. We had a very close and loving relationship from the moment I was born and throughout the final 15 years of his life. The circumstances of my birth may seem unusual and even outrageous — that should come as no surprise.' She claims Mercury even had a room of his own in her childhood home and made sure to see her regularly. Writer Jones has defended the book, saying all necessary legal and DNA checks were carried out: 'Verification was obtained, legal teams have been involved — but such measures are private and not shared publicly.' She also hit back at suggestions the journals were AI-generated fakes, writing: 'To those saying his daughter 'doesn't exist' and I made it up — wait and see. His own story, told in his own words, is incredible. I love him all the more for it. You will too.'

Coronation Street reveals major Gary Windass story as attack is confirmed
Coronation Street has confirmed Gary Windass' (Mikey North) whereabouts after the character seemingly vanished into thin air. The character said he was heading off on a trip to Durham to visit mum Anna (Debbie Rush), but hasn't been seen since. His brief holiday took place after an eventful few weeks, having found himself caught between wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) and dangerous Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty). Lou developed quite the crush on Gary, attempting to kiss him and incriminating messages to herself from his phone. The blackmail got the better of him and he fled. Since then, he's failed to return to Weatherfield. Maria's only contact will be a message saying he's stopping off to see a mate, but by next week, there's still no sign of him. In upcoming scenes, Liam's (Charlie Wrenshall) birthday, and as his mum and uncle Kirk (Andrew Whyment) gift him his presents, they all begin to ponder where Gary has gone. Little do they realise, he's actually in a coma and fighting for his life – just around the corner at Weathy General. But how did he end up in this situation? We'll see desperate Maria report him as a missing person to Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who then learns about an unidentified patient. He's sure that it isn't Gary, but it becomes clear that his attacker is going to extreme lengths to conceal their crime and cover their tracks. They're even pretending to be his next of kin! 'Maria and Gary are going through a bit of a rough patch at the minute and initially she's upset that he's left but doesn't think too much into it,' Samia told us. 'As soon as Gary misses Liam's birthday, she has a gut feeling that something isn't right and fears something awful might have happened to him.'
