PM steps in to help struggling family in Port Dickson
Anwar, who visited Faridah Abbas and her family with his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said the family is now fully dependent on Faridah after her husband, Mohamad Ali Abdul Malek, became bedridden last year.
"Azizah and I are deeply affected by the ordeal faced by this asnaf family. I have instructed the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister's Department, to provide the necessary facilities to help Faridah and her family continue their lives," he said in a Facebook post today.
Anwar said the assistance would include a business kiosk to enable Faridah to earn an income by selling kuih, as well as levelling the front portion of the family's home to ensure their comfort.
"Hopefully, this kindness and assistance will ease the suffering of Faridah, who has to care for her bedridden husband and their children. We pray that Allah will ease the trials faced by this family, Insya-Allah," he said.
Anwar is in Port Dickson for the Madani Government Leadership Ukhuwah (Brotherhood) Programme, held in conjunction with a retreat for members of the administration and Parliament.
The programme aims to foster stronger ties between leaders and the people in a relaxed, inclusive setting grounded in shared values.

Anwar to make special appreciation announcement for Malaysians tomorrow
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to make a special announcement of appreciation for all Malaysians on Wednesday (July 23). This was announced by Communication Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil on Facebook on Tuesday (July 22). The announcement comes after Anwar said in Penang on July 19 that he would be making an 'extraordinary tribute' announcement to Malaysians in the upcoming week. "I need a little more time to make the announcement, to allow my team under the Finance Ministry to prepare the 'surprise' in greater detail to ensure it is comprehensive. "The country is currently facing an increase in the cost of living, but it is not only happening in Malaysia but around the world. It is a worldwide problem. "We want to increase salaries and allowances for public servants by RM10bil this year, and next year by an additional RM18bil. We want to do the same with the STR (Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah) by RM13bil, making it RM23bil," he said during his speech at the Madani Bumiputera Tunas Master Plan and the JKPSB Housing Project at the Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Campus in Permatang Pauh on Saturday (July 19). Anwar said he is seeking ways and efforts that can be implemented. "Every day at the Finance Ministry, we are working hard to find an approach that can be announced soon, especially to address the cost of living.

Anwar's ‘special tribute' to Malaysians to be announced tomorrow
PETALING JAYA: After weeks of hints and growing anticipation, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to finally make his much-awaited 'extraordinary tribute' announcement to Malaysians tomorrow. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed that the announcement will be made at 10.30am on Tuesday (July 23), calling on the public to 'wait for it' in a Facebook post. Anwar had earlier said the announcement—described as a special token of appreciation for the rakyat—would be made either on Tuesday or Wednesday, pending the finalisation of certain measures. 'Before I make the announcement, a few new approaches are being finalised,'Anwar said. While he did not reveal specifics, Anwar stressed that the measures required careful and thoughtful consideration. 'These concerns need to be addressed thoroughly before I proceed with any major announcements or changes. 'I've said that I'll make the announcement—possibly in the form of additional measures—within a day or two. 'But I need a bit more time to ensure all aspects are properly handled,' he said during the Prime Minister's Department monthly assembly on Monday. He previously indicated that the measures would aim to ease the burden of rising living costs and provide relief to those affected by inflation and economic pressures.

M'sia stands firm on Gaza, won't buckle to outside pressure, says PM
KUALA LUMPUR: Putrajaya will continue to speak out against atrocities and injustice happening in the Middle East and would not be swayed by any pressures from other countries, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He said that Malaysia will remain firm on the issue, even if it may lead to higher tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump. 'Our stand, as a free and independent country, will remain firm despite any objections or intimidation,' he said during Prime Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (July 22). Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muda- Muar) had asked if Malaysia's firm position on the Middle East conflict was a factor for Trump's decision to impose higher reciprocal tariffs on Malaysian goods. Anwar said the negotiation process on the tariffs is ongoing. He added that Malaysia has voiced out its views on the tariffs through several meetings with US diplomats, including a recent meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He said Malaysia's views on Palestine were touched on during the meetings, but were not the main topic of discussion. 'The US decision (on tariffs) is unfair, unilateral, and goes against the World Trade Organisation's principles and existing agreements, which we had mentioned," Anwar added. Malaysia was slapped with a 24% reciprocal tariff in April, and it was recently increased to 25% despite initial talks between representatives of both countries. Anwar also told Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodi (GPS-Sri Aman) that Malaysia has been looking at various avenues to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the people of Gaza. 'Based on the latest briefing by the Foreign Ministry, we still have the funds and facilities to deliver the aid. 'I have requested cooperation from the Egyptian President (Abdel Fattah El-Sisi), but our efforts are still blocked by Israel on the Rafah border,' he said. Anwar added that humanitarian efforts were also being coordinated with Qatar and Jordan. '(We sought) Jordan's help to bring in assistance such as food and medicines to Gaza, but this was also blocked (by Israel),' he said.
