Qatar: Ooredoo's profits up 5% in Q1-25

Qatar - National Mobile Telecommunications Company (Ooredoo) achieved profits attributable to the owners amounting to QAR 960 million in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, up 5% from QAR 913 million in Q1-24.
Total revenues stood at QAR 5.85 billion as of 31 March 2025, compared to QAR 5.86 billion, according to the financial results.
Earnings per share (EPS) went up year-on-year (YoY) to QAR 0.30 in Q1-25 from QAR 0.29.
The group reported total assets amounting to QAR 61.13 billion at the end of March 2025, versus QAR 60.94 billion as of 31 December 2024.
Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, CEO of Ooredoo, said: 'Ooredoo Group began the year on a strong note underpinned by sustained operational momentum across our markets with a focus on efficiencies and execution of key strategic initiatives.'
Fakhroo added: 'Excluding the impact of the Myanmar exit, Revenue increased by 3% YoY to QAR 5.80 billion and EBITDA grew by 2% to QAR 2.50 billion. EBITDA margin was maintained at 43%. The group's performance during the quarter was bolstered by strong growth in Kuwait, Algeria, and Iraq.'

Most Gulf equities tracked global stocks higher on Tuesday, as investors raised bets for interest rate cuts by the U.S. Federal Reserve, while a few positive corporate earnings also boosted sentiment. Expectations that the U.S. central bank could ease monetary policy soon have risen after a weak U.S. jobs report revived worries over the health of the world's biggest economy. Markets are now pricing in a 94% chance of a September rate cut, up from a 63% probability from before the data, according to CME's FedWatch Tool. The Fed's decisions have a significant impact on the Gulf region's monetary policy, as most currencies there are pegged to the U.S. dollar. The Qatari benchmark share index advanced 0.9% to 11,284, its highest level in more than 2-1/2 years with all stocks barring one in positive territory. Shares in Qatar National Bank, the region's largest lender, gained 1.2% while telecom services provider Ooredoo climbed 3.5%. Dubai's benchmark stock index was up 0.7%, with all of its constituents rising. Emirates NBD, the emirate's largest lender, rose 1.9% and tolls operator Salik Company added 1.6%. Elsewhere, Dubai's non-oil sector showed a solid recovery, with its PMI rising to 53.5 in July from 51.8 in June, driven by a sharper improvement in sales volumes. Saudi Arabia's benchmark stock index was up 0.8%, lifted by a 3.1% rise in Saudi Basic Industries while ADES Holding surged 10%, its highest intraday percentage gain since listing in 2023. Oil drilling group ADES has agreed to buy Oslo-listed rival Shelf Drilling for 3.9 billion Norwegian crowns ($379 million) in cash. Among other gainers, Lumi Rental rose 3.5% after the auto rental firm posted a 17.8% increase in second quarter net profit. The Abu Dhabi benchmark index was up 0.3% after two straight sessions of losses. First Abu Dhabi Bank, the UAE's largest bank, gained 2% and ADNOC Logistics added 1.1%. Outside the Gulf, Egypt's blue-chip index advanced for a fourth day and rose 1.6% to hit a record high at 35,254. Eastern Company soared 5.5% and Talaat Moustafa Group gained 0.7%. Meanwhile, Egypt's non-oil private sector showed signs of stabilisation in July, with employment rising for the first time in nine months and a softer decline in output and new orders, S&P Global Egypt PMI report said. The Abu Dhabi benchmark index rose 0.3%, after two consecutive sessions of losses, lifted by a 2.4% advance in Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and a 1.3% gain in Burjeel Holding. The Qatari benchmark index edged up 0.2%, aided by a 1.3% rise in telecom services provider Ooredoo and a 0.8% gain in Qatar Islamic Bank. Saudi Arabia's benchmark stock index was up 0.2% in early trading, with most sectors in positive territory, led by IT, real estate and healthcare stocks. Digital security firm Elm Company advanced 3% and ADES Holding gained 2.3%. Oil drilling group ADES has agreed to buy Oslo-listed rival Shelf Drilling for 3.9 billion Norwegian crowns ($379.33 million) in cash. Saudi Aramco, however, was down 0.3%. Qatar: Ooredoo's net profits up to $521mln in H1-25

The net profits attributable to the shareholders of National Mobile Telecommunications Company (Ooredoo) hit QAR 1.94 billion in the first half (H1) of 2025. The generated net profits were higher by 4% year-on-year (YoY) than QAR 1.87 billion, according to the financial results. Total revenues went up by 1% to QAR 11.91 billion in H1-25 from QAR 11.79 billion in H1-24. Additionally, the earnings per share (EPS) increased by 5% to QAR 0.61 at the end of June 2025 from QAR 0.58 a year earlier. Financials for Q2 In the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, Ooredoo generated 3% YoY higher profits at QAR 988 million, compared to QAR 959 million. EPS went up to QAR 0.31 from QAR 0.30. Meanwhile, the revenues jumped by 2% to QAR 6.06 billion in Q2-25 from QAR 5.93 billion in Q2-24.
