Falcons held virtual meeting with Arkansas wide receiver at Pro Day Arkansas WR Andrew Armstrong met with Falcons virtually at Pro Day
The Atlanta Falcons have just five selections in this year's draft, and only two within the first 100 picks. Without much draft capital in the early rounds, the team must find some talent on Day 3. Thus far, the Falcons appear to be doing their due diligence.
The team has met with several mid-to-late-round prospects, including one highly productive wide receiver. According to Justin Melo of the Draft Network, the Falcons held a virtual meeting with Arkansas' Andrew Armstrong during the school's pro day.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound wideout ran the 40-yard dash in 4.51 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine. Armstrong can play inside and outside and his size makes him a tough matchup for defensive backs. The Arkansas standout led the SEC with 78 receptions for 1,140 receiving yards. He could be a potential sleeper in this year's draft.
NFL.com's Lance Zierlein likes Armstrong's size but questions his ability to separate at the pro level.
"Long-limbed, tight-hipped wideout with average feet and a lack of separation talent," Zierlein wrote in his 2025 scouting report. "Armstrong put together solid catch production during his two seasons at Arkansas but will need to prove it is translatable in the pros. He doesn't get in and out of breaks quickly enough to separate and lacks the pure gas to be a field-stretching option, but he has good size and ball skills."
The Falcons don't have a huge need at wide receiver but they also don't have a ton of depth behind Drake London, Darnell Mooney and Ray-Ray McCloud. The team re-signed KhaDarel Hodge in free agency, but Rondale Moore signed with the Minnesota Vikings.

Can The Falcons Overtake The Buccaneers For The NFC South?
Can The Falcons Overtake The Buccaneers For The NFC South? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Falcons were two games behind the Buccaneers in the standings event though the Falcons were 2-0 against their division rival. With the youth of the Panthers and the quarterback dilemma of the Saints, the Falcons are the main competition for the Bucs, and it will be an interesting battle in 2025. Advertisement It is very important for the Falcons to not drop certain games, especially against division rivals. The NFC has been dominant and it's the kind of conference that is requiring at least 10-11 win to have a shot at making the playoffs. Feb 25, 2025; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Atlanta Falcons coach Raheem Morris speaks during the NFL Scouting Combine at the Indiana Convention Lee-Imagn Images The team has improved over the last few seasons, and they believe that the team they have now is the one that can get them over the hump. The playoffs have eluded the Falcons since 2017, and with Raheem Morris as coach they hope that the improvement reaches an all-time high. The Bucs have won the NFC South every year since 2021, and even when they were second in the division, they ended up winning the Super Bowl. The Falcons must step up and take that crown from them, and they must utilize all their weapons and step up on defense. Advertisement There are still many questions that the Falcons have not answered yet, those include the statuses of Kirk Cousins and Kyle Pitts. There is still a long way to go until the start of the season. The Falcons are hoping to finally get back to the playoffs, and 2025 is the year to do it. They had a successful draft and a good offseason overall. There Are Multiple Trade Proposals For Kirk Cousins
There Are Multiple Trade Proposals For Kirk Cousins originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cousins signed a $180 million contract with the Falcons in 2024 and would end up struggling in his first season with the team. Now, as it stands, Cousins is linked to multiple teams around the league and could be moved real soon. Advertisement Multiple teams in both conferences have multiple trade proposals for Cousins, and all of these teams are in need of a veteran presence at quarterback. All of these teams have assets and any one of them could be the next home for Cousins. Kirk Cousins (18) celebrates after a Davis-Imagn Images Pittsburgh Steelers The Steelers need a quarterback more than any other team in the NFL, as their number one is currently Mason Rudolph. They also do not have experience outside of Rudolph on the roster, and have not been able to sign Aaron Rodgers. The proposal would send multiple draft pics, along with a swap of a Day 3 pick to the Falcons for Cousins. A sixth-round pick that can turn into a fifth rounder, depending on how much Cousins plays, and Atlanta might have to pay most of the guaranteed money owed to him. Advertisement Minnesota Vikings The Vikings had traded for Sam Howell during the draft, and he is currently the backup for J.J. McCarthy. The proposal for the Vikings would send Howell and a few day three picks to the Falcons. Vikings would pay around $12 million of the guaranteed money and help the Falcons more than most teams. The Vikings would not mind reuniting with Cousins and having a veteran presence in the locker room for McCarthy. Cleveland Browns The Browns already have four healthy quarterbacks on their roster, but none of them are screaming full-time starter. They have been linked to Cousins all off-season and that only lowered when they drafted Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Advertisement The trade proposal would send Kenny Pickett and multiple picks to Atlanta for Cousins. It all depends on how the quarterbacks show out at OTA's and training camp. These three teams could make a move at any given moment, and the Falcons could make calls all around the league. How The Signing Of Aaron Rodgers Takes The Steelers Out Of The Kirk Cousins Race
How The Signing Of Aaron Rodgers Takes The Steelers Out Of The Kirk Cousins Race originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Pittsburgh Steelers insider Gerry Dulac has announced on X that the Steelers have signed Rodgers to a one-year contract after months of a roller coaster ride. Rodgers came back in 2024 after tearing his Achilles in his 4th snap in 2023. This signing more than likely, takes the Steelers out of the Cousins sweepstakes, and now the Falcons must look elsewhere. Falcons are still stuck with the $180 million contract for their backup quarterback and now must look for any other team to make a trade proposal. Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins warms up before a game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images With the Rodgers signing, the Steelers now have that veteran quarterback that can be a week one starter and be a voice in the locker room for Mason Rudolph and Will Howard. Cousins was always the backup choice if Rodgers decided to either take a break from football or choose to sign with another team. Advertisement With this signing, the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns now step up as the top suitors for Cousins. Either one could also back out at any moment, and at that time the Falcons should look at other options for Cousins. At the moment, Cousins could stick around as a valuable backup and will be ready if Michael Penix Jr. struggles or there is an injury at any point in the season. It looks to be the most viable option at this point, with this news coming out. The Falcons will now have a lot to figure out, as the Steelers were their number one option to trade Cousins to.
