2026 Ram 2500 Warlock And Black Express Target Ford's HD Supremacy
This is the cheaper of the two new heavy-duty pickups, with a base price of $53,735 including the destination charge. That makes it $2,495 more expensive than the base Tradesman model.
Outside, the Black Express can be ordered in Crew Cab guise with a long or short bed. A sport performance hood, body-color bumpers and grille surrounds, trailer tow mirrors, and black tube cab length side steps are all added. It sits on 20-inch black wheels and there are several colors available, including Diamond Black, Bright White, Forged Blue, and Molten Red.
Inside, cloth covers the seats and there's a carpeted floor covering. Front and rear parking sensors are a welcome addition for such a large pickup.
Buyers can choose from two powertrains, the first being the 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 405 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. The optional unit is the mighty 6.7-liter high-output Cummins turbodiesel with 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic is standard in both cases, and 4x2 or 4x4 systems are available. The link-coil rear suspension also helps this 2500 ride better than the average heavy-duty truck.
Starting at $57,165, the new 2500 Warlock goes further than the Black Express. The upgrades here are not just visual, but turn the Ram into a genuinely more capable truck. For instance, this one comes with 4x4 exclusively, and you have to stick with the Crew Cab and short bed.
It rides on 20-inch diamond cut wheels wrapped in 34-inch Goodyear Duratrac A/T tires. Ram also adds a transfer case skidplate, hill descent control, Bilstein shocks (tuned for on- or off-road use), and an anti-spin rear differential. The trailer tow mirrors and color palette from the Black Express are the same here.
This derivative can be identified by its Warlock bedside decal and a black surround for the grille, flares, and bumpers. And, while not much changes inside, it does get front/rear all-weather floor mats to cope with the dirt and grime that will accompany more challenging off-road adventures.
The same two engines and automatic transmission are available here. Interestingly, this is the first time the Warlock name has been used for the HD range since its introduction half a century ago, when it was used in the 1970s on the Dodge D-Series lineup. The Warlock trim has already been offered on the 1500 for some time.
"Everyone likes a good-looking truck, but the challenge is making it affordable while adding value to the entire lineup," said Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Ram. "The Ram 2500 Black Express and Warlock offer an attractive price with custom appearance, while building on our sport truck leadership position."
The two new pickups will begin arriving at dealers in the third quarter, and Ram will hope they improve on the brand's recent poor showing in J.D. Power's initial quality study.

The Ram TRX Might Be Back Sooner Than You Think
Ram has gone through a lot of changes in the last couple of years. Tim Kuniskis left , the brand killed off the V-8, and the high-powered TRX entered retirement. Two of those three things are back, with Kuniskis helping to usher the return of the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 to the 2026 1500. Now it appears Ram is poised to resurrect the TRX as soon as next year. A new report from Mopar Insiders , citing "well-placed sources," alleges a new Ram 1500 TRX will enter production in late January. It follows an earlier report that suggested a new TRX would feature a more powerful version of its supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine when it returns. Ram ended TRX production with the Final Edition for the 2024 model year, making 702 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque with an eight-speed automatic. It propelled the pickup to hit 60 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds and to a top speed of 118 mph. If the next generation is supposed to have more power, it should be quicker, too. According to the report, the new TRX will feature the styling and technology available on the RHO, likely sitting above it in the lineup with its more powerful engine, and would be the first model to arrive under the relaunched SRT division . The RHO features a 540-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six Hurricane engine and has Bilstein's Black Hawk e2 adaptive performance shocks from the first TRX, along with an assortment of other heavy-duty off-road components. Ram has yet to confirm that the TRX will return, but the brand has more than two dozen product announcements over the next year. We suspect one of them will be a new TRX as Kuniskis and team attempt to correct the brand's recent missteps. When Kuniskis returned to lead Ram last December, he brought back former SRT chief engineer Daryl Smith to lead the team tasked with bringing the Hemi back to the 1500. Initial projections said it'd take Ram 18 months to resurrect the Hemi-powered 1500, but Smith and team needed just six. "The fact that he was the lead guy on SRT maybe means something, I don't know," Kuniskis said when Ram announced the 2026 1500 . Stellantis expects first-half net loss of $2.7 billion as tariffs hit
Stellantis on Monday said it expects a net loss of 2.3 billion euros (approximately $2.7 billion at current exchange rates) in the first half of the year as it begins to feel the impact of U.S. tariffs while attempting to reorganize itself for greater long-term profitability. The report was unusual in that Stellantis released preliminary and unaudited financial information for the first half of the year, after suspending financial guidance for the full year April 30. The automaker said it took this action, considered extraordinary by financial experts, because of the divergence of analyst consensus forecast with its actual performance. Stellantis' reported net revenue of 74.3 billion euros ($86.9 billion) in the first half contrasts with 85 billion euros ($99.4 billion) and a 5.6 billion euro ($6.5 billion) net profit for the same period in 2024. It underscores the challenges still faced by new CEO Antonio Filosa, who was appointed in May after leading Stellantis' Jeep brand. Stellantis said four key factors impacted its financial performance in the first half of the year. One is the tariffs imposed by President Trump, which Stellantis estimates cost it 300 million euros ($351 million) due to lower shipments and production cuts. The automaker said its overall shipments fell to an estimated 1.4 million vehicles, down 6% from the same period in 2024. In North America, Stellantis reported that vehicle shipments declined 25% year-over-year due to reduced manufacturing and lower shipments of imported vehicles as the tariffs took hold. Last year, Stellantis imported over 40% of the 1.2 million vehicles it sold in the United States, mostly from Canada and Mexico, according to Automotive News. Stellantis also listed higher industrial costs, changes in foreign exchange rates, and roughly 3.3 billion euros ($3.8 billion) in pre-tax net costs associated with a product strategy shift that included canceling a hydrogen fuel-cell powertrain project and recommitting to hybrids in Europe and conventional internal-combustion powertrains in the U.S. Earlier this month, the automaker launched a hybrid version of the Fiat 500 in Europe, and it's announced the return of the Hemi V8 engine to the Ram 1500 pickup truck in the U.S. That's one of several moves by returned Ram boss Tim Kuniskis, along with a return to NASCAR racing and a possible passenger van, aimed at reviving the flagging brand. New CEO Filosa faces a similar task across the entire Stellantis constellation of brands. He replaces Carlos Tavares, who was ousted late last year amid poor financial performance. The cavernous interior provides comfortable seating for up to eight passengers, and the powerful V6 engine delivers smooth performance while still achieving a respectable 22 mpg combined. The starting MSRP is $38,240, and it will serve you well for over 200,000 miles with just routine maintenance. 'The Honda Civic and Honda Odyssey are two of the most reliable vehicles,' said Musson. 'Their safety features make you feel secure.' Subaru Outback The Subaru Outback is a rugged midsize SUV with all-wheel-drive capability and solid fuel efficiency at 29 mpg combined. The roomy interior carries a lot of cargo. Subaru is also known for its durability — you should expect it to last well beyond 200,000 miles with proper maintenance. 'Subaru Outbacks are great buys for your money,' Musson said. 'The all-wheel-drive standard feature is hard to beat. The interior has a great, user-friendly design. They're workhorses and will provide reliable service for years.' Worst Values Ram 2500/3500 Diesel If you're in the market for a truck, you may want to think twice about the diesel engine RAM 2500 or 3500. You might be drawn to the macho image of heavy-duty trucks, but diesel engines require more expensive maintenance and repairs. 'One of the worst vehicles for your money is a Ram diesel,' Musson said. 'The parts on a diesel truck are ridiculously expensive. Not every mechanic will work on a diesel, so your options for repair shops are limited. The parts fail, and you'll need repairs frequently.' But what makes these trucks a bad value is their poor fuel economy. With an estimated 15-20 mpg combined, you'll spend big bucks at the pump. Diesel fuel also tends to be more expensive than gas, which will add up over time. Land Rover Range Rover Another worst buy, according to Musson, is the Land Rover Range Rover. While they're undeniably stylish, she says they're a maintenance nightmare. 'Their starting price is high, so you'd expect reliability,' said Musson. 'That's not the case though. They're one of the least reliable vehicles, and they're frustrating when parts start breaking down.' The starting MSRP for the 2024 model is $107,400. For most buyers, these luxury SUVs just aren't worth the financial pain. Ford Focus The Ford Focus has been a popular choice for car buyers on a budget for a long time. Ford has recently stopped making the Focus. You might be tempted to get an even better bargain by picking up a used one. But even for the price, they underperform consistently. One of the main issues is poor reliability. 'Skip the Ford Focus,' said Musson. 'It's a budget car to begin with, so at least you're not spending a ton on the purchase price. However, it's the kind of car that just has a lot of annoying problems like window electronics that stop working and a noisy ride.' You might get a great deal upfront, but the high likelihood of costly repairs and low resale value make it a poor choice.
