Shila Amzah confirms Amy Search behind alleged altercation, says may hire bodyguard if working with rock star again in future

Malay Mail14-07-2025
KUALA LUMPUR, July 14 — Shila Amzah has confirmed that the 'legendary' male singer who allegedly verbally attacked her during a concert rehearsal last week is rock star Datuk Amy Search.
The Star reported that the 34-year-old singer made the revelation during a media interview at an event in Shah Alam yesterday, without naming him directly.
'In the 17 years I've known him in the industry, he's never been like this,' she shared in an Instagram Story.
'I'm sorry I couldn't name him openly with all the cameras in front of me last night – it made the situation worse.'.
The incident occurred on Thursday during a rehearsal where Shila said she was unexpectedly scolded, prompting her to file a police report and share her experience on Instagram.
Police have since recorded a statement from Amy, 66, with mStar reporting that the outburst stemmed from alleged interference by Shila in his family issues.
Shila, however, denied being involved in any conflict between Amy's wife, Datin Nourish Hassan, and daughter, Nabila Huda, calling the accusations baseless.
Shila explained her support for Nabila was a gesture of empathy and not interference in family affairs.
Yesterday, Shila said she is open to reconciliation with Amy if he demonstrates a positive change in behaviour.
'To be honest, I'm in a difficult place [to make peace]... I just want to see a change [from Amy]. If there's a shift in attitude, then reconciliation can happen,' she was quoted saying by mStar.
She added that there has been no serious discussion between them since the incident, though she is not ruling out working together again.
'I might hire a bodyguard if I have to work with him again... we all need to know how to protect ourselves,' she added.
Last week, the police said they have opened an investigation paper following a report lodged by Shila, who claimed she was assaulted by a popular singer yesterday.
Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said statements from two individuals have been recorded to assist in the investigation.

Man gets 22 years' jail, 9 strokes of rotan for raping another niece

The convict pleaded guilty in the Ayer Keroh sessions court to four counts each of rape, sodomy and sexual penetration with an object, as well as five counts of physical sexual assault. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : A 31-year-old man serving time for raping his niece has been sentenced to a further 22 years in prison and nine strokes of the rotan after pleading guilty to 17 charges involving an older niece of his. The convict pleaded guilty in the Ayer Keroh sessions court to four counts each of rape, sodomy and sexual penetration with an object, as well as five counts of physical sexual assault. He was charged with committing the offences when the victim was 12 at a house in Kampung Tanah Merah, Krubong, between November 2022 and July 2023, Harian Metro reported. He was altogether sentenced to 166 years in jail, including 22 years on each rape charge, and nine strokes of the rotan for the offences. Judge Rohatul Akmar Abdullah ordered the prison sentences to run concurrently from the date of his arrest on Aug 18, 2023, but for the whipping to be administered consecutively. Rohatul also ordered him to undergo mandatory counselling and to be placed under police supervision for three years after his release from prison. On July 7, the sessions court sentenced the same man to 15 years in prison and six strokes of the rotan on four charges of rape and one of sexual assault against another niece, the younger sister of the victim in today's case.

Ismanira had no sinister intent towards Zayn, court told

The Petaling Jaya sessions court will decide on Oct 31 whether Ismanira Abdul Manaf is guilty of neglecting Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin in a manner likely to cause him physical harm. PETALING JAYA : Text messages Ismanira Abdul Manaf sent to her husband before and on the day their son Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matin went missing do not indicate any harmful intent towards the boy or herself, a child psychologist told the sessions court here today. Dr Noor Aishah Rosli, 49, said her evaluation of the couple's WhatsApp conversations indicated that Ismanira was merely venting her emotions to her husband, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari. Among the messages purportedly sent by Ismanira include 'stress nak mati' (I'm stressed to death), 'rasa macam nak bunuh diri' (I feel like killing myself), 'lantak la nak hidup ke mati' (I don't care whether I live or die), and 'budak ni elok je, takde la aku pukul dia' (this boy is fine, I didn't hit him). 'This is a wife pouring out her emotions to her husband. It's normal, especially from a mother caring for two children with autism. 'From a psychological point of view, we cannot conclude that she intended to commit a crime based on those words,' said the fifth and last defence witness. Noor Aishah added that it was not unusual for people to use such strong language when confiding in their partner, saying it did not mean they had harmful intentions. While Ismanira might have been emotionally exhausted when she spoke about taking her own life, Noor Aishah said it appeared to be merely an emotional outburst aimed at gaining Zaim's attention. When asked by Ismanira's lawyer Haresh Mahadevan whether Zayn walking a few steps behind his mother before he went missing could amount to neglect, Noor Aishah disagreed. 'Neglect must be assessed from the child's birth until the day of the incident. Everything prior to the incident appeared normal. 'It was only on that day that he happened to be walking behind her, and a few seconds later, he went missing. That alone cannot be defined as neglect,' she said. She added that no professional body in the world would consider a mother walking ahead of her child as an act of neglect. Ismanira and Zaim, both aged 30, were charged last year with neglecting Zayn in a manner likely to cause him physical harm. However, Zaim was acquitted after the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against him. The alleged offence took place in PJU Damansara Damai between noon on Dec 5, 2023 – when Zayn was reported missing – and 9.55pm the next day, when his body was found in a stream near his home at Apartment Idaman, Damansara Damai. Deputy public prosecutors Raja Zaizul Faridah Raja Zaharudin, Aqharie Durranie Aziz and Nur Sabrina Zubairi are leading the prosecution. Judge Syahliza Warnoh fixed Oct 31 for a decision.

Actress Bella Astillah had to present award to ex-husband's rumoured fling

Photo: TV3/YouTube There was an awkward moment at Malaysia's Melodi Hottest Awards 2025 on Aug 3. Malaysian singer-actress Bella Astillah was one of the presenters at the event broadcast live on TV3 from Putrajaya International Convention Centre. The 31-year-old was presenting the award for the winner of the Hottest Female Celebrity category with Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman. Bella was visibly uncomfortable after she opened the envelope and saw the name of the winner. 'I know this one... I know her very well. Sophia,' she said, referring to Malaysian actress Sophia Albarakbah. Sophia, 32, went on stage after her name was announced. Bella swiftly passed her the trophy and a bouquet of flowers without making eye contact or acknowledging her. In early 2023, Bella accused Sophia of trying to wreck her marriage with her then husband, Malaysia-based Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz. Aliff and Sophia had both starred in the drama series Ku Akad Kau Dengan Bismillah (2023). Bella and Aliff, 34, first divorced in 2019, but reconciled in 2020. They divorced for the second time in June 2024 after Aliff was caught in khalwat (close proximity) with Malaysian actress Ruhainies, 33. Sophia was asked about the incident with Bella after the ceremony. "I'm OK because we're in the same industry. I never felt as if I was being mocked. Maybe that's just her way of presenting the award," she told entertainment portal Gempak. For the record, Bella and Syed Saddiq won in the Hottest Celebrity Couple Goals category, but she did not speak to the media. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
