Nicholas Saputra surprise, Siti Nurhaliza and Amy Search spotted in crowd as Melly Goeslaw dazzles at third Malaysia concert
KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 — Indonesian singer Melly Goeslaw's third concert in Malaysia in three years proved to be yet another resounding success. Some 6,000 fans turned up to watch her perform at her recent concert 'Ada Apa Dengan Melly...? Prom Nite' at Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil here. They were there not just to watch Melly perform but to relive the magical moments of their youth through her songs which are synonymous with Indonesian film soundtracks. Known as Indonesia's Lady Gaga due to her unique fashion sense, Melly proved that music is more than mere entertainment — it is a language of emotion that unites two nations. Melly's opening number was 'Ku Bahagia', after which she took the audience on a journey through time, touching on themes of adolescence, first love and unrequited love. 'I'm grateful for this special opportunity and for being accepted by the Malaysian audience. Thank you for still listening to and feeling my music. Even though we speak different languages, we are united through the heart,' she said. As a tribute to her singer friends in Malaysia, Melly also performed a medley of iconic local songs such as 'Janji Manismu' (by Datuk Aishah), 'Aku Cinta Padamu' (Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza) and 'Isabella' (Search), creating a deeply meaningful moment. In a touching display of support, Siti Nurhaliza and Datuk Amy Search, who were both seated among the audience, rose to their feet and sang along with Melly. In addition to melancholic ballads, Melly energised the crowd with upbeat numbers like 'Pencinta Wanita', 'Hey Ladies' and 'Tak Tahan Lagi', with the performance further enlivened by a special collaboration with rising Indonesian singer Dhinda Ghania. Popular Malaysian singer Aina Abdul also captivated the audience with her powerful solo performance of 'Cinta'. Throughout the two-and-a-half-hour concert, Melly, who is also a composer, appeared in four avant-garde outfits, each showcasing the bold and unique elements synonymous with the Indonesian diva. Towards the end of the concert, Melly shared a heartfelt wish: 'Allow me to keep coming here (to Malaysia) every year.' The concert was a fitting complement to the two concerts she had held in Malaysia previously — 'Ada Apa Dengan Melly (Back To School)' in 2023 and 'Ada Apa Dengan Melly & Friends (Malam Graduasi)' in 2024. — Bernama

Amy Search rocks Axiata Arena in historic solo concert at 67
KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 — On Saturday night, local rock legend Datuk Amy Search proved that his star power has yet to fade. The 67-year-old singer rocked Axiata Arena here in his first-ever solo concert, where more than 4,000 of his fans turned up to witness the 'historic' moment in his career spanning over four decades. Even though the concert coincided with the Malaysia Cup final between Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Sri Pahang FC, the rock king's charisma easily eclipsed everything else, The Johor-born singer known for his iconic fashion sense, demonstrated that physical changes and advancing age have done nothing to diminish his power and brilliance on stage. 'Grateful that at 67, I'm still standing on this stage... my wife often asked me, 'When are you going to do a solo concert? Are you afraid?' This was something I never knew when I could get to do but finally, the dream has come true,' he said. Still bursting with energy and delivering powerful vocals, Amy performed 21 songs including medleys, dressed in a knee-length black coat, opening the three-hour show with a selection of songs from his various solo albums. Songs like 'Gita Rama Sita', followed by 'Aku', 'Apa Saja', 'Suralaya Dalam D Major', 'Mengintai Kelawar, Ghairah' and 'Kau Bukan Sadura' filled the first part of the performance. These numbers showcased a rarely seen and more personal side of the singer, whose real name is Suhaimi Abdul Rahman. Although some of the songs, drawn from albums like 'Magic' and 'Aku Amy', may have felt unfamiliar to some of the audience and caused a slight sense of confusion early on, it was perhaps Amy's way of allowing fans to dive deeper into his solo works. '...this concert won't be the same as with Search, it won't be like with you guys (the members of Search), but this (solo concert) is for you all... we will always be happy,' Amy, who used to be the lead singer of the popular rock band Search, said in a video recording shown on the big screen. As the concert entered the second hour, the energy soared as Amy unleashed his legendary hits that made history in the local music scene, starting with 'Gadisku' and 'Rozana', presented with fresh new arrangements. From then on, the audience's cheers never ceased as they relived the glory days of Search, watching Amy delivering timeless anthems like 'Fantasia Bulan Madu' and 'Pawana'. Amy also surprised fans with a nostalgic medley, covering songs made famous by his musical peers, beginning with 'Suatu Masa' originally sung by Datuk M. Nasir, followed by 'Ku Di Halaman Rindu' (Lefthanded) and 'Sejuta Wajah' (Sweet Charity). Accompanied by a band led by well-known concert producer Jennifer Thompson, Amy also performed 'Tinggal Sepi', 'Aku Dah Bosan' and 'Saat Yang Ku Idamkan', stirring sweet memories among the fans. Amy also sang 'Kerja Gila' and 'Tiada Lagi', two songs that continue to resonate with fans across generations, before closing the show with 'Isabella', a song that remains the symbol of Search's success. — Bernama

Fans Of JDT, Sri Pahang Flood Bukit Jalil National Stadium Since 4pm
KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 (Bernama) -- The heat of the clash between Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Sri Pahang FC in the 2024/2025 Malaysia Cup final has begun to be felt with a sea of 'red and blue' as well as 'yellow blue' flooding the grounds of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ) here since 4 pm today. The weather at the home venue of the national football team was slightly cloudy following a light rain early this evening, but this did not dampen the spirits of the supporters who were present ahead of the match kick-off scheduled for 9 pm. The atmosphere was lively with various activities attracting the attention of supporters of both teams, which was also further heated up by Amy Search's First Solo Concert held at the Axiata Arena next to the stadium on the same day. bootstrap slideshow Confidence in the ability of his proud team prompted one of Sri Pahang's loyal supporters, Syamsuri Saari, to travel from Jerantut to SNBJ with his three children, namely Mohd Shaufiqul Islam, 13, Mohd Uwais Al Qarni, 12, Ariq Arrayyan, 11. "We are here because it has been eleven years since we last went to the final, so even though we know we may lose, the hope of winning is still there, because in football, someone has to lose but winning is not known yet for both JDT and Sri Pahang. "I have been a Pahang fan since the beginning and often go to the stadium no matter what the match is, and in the last four years I started bringing my children to the stadium with me and this tradition continues," said the 47-year-old government employee. Meanwhile, non-governmental organisation Johor Volunteers brought more than 2,000 JDT supporters to brightened the atmosphere with cheers and displaying banners. The coordinator, Tun Naim Satiman said that as soon as the final date was announced, they planned to gather a group to boost the spirits of the Johoreans in the final match. 'When the club successfully booked a place for the final match and the date was confirmed, we immediately planned to support the team, as well as be another strength with the Boys of Straits (loyal JDT supporters),' he said.

Fans clash outside National Stadium before JDT-Sri Pahang final [WATCH]
KUALA LUMPUR: Violence broke out outside the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil less than two hours before tonight's Malaysia Cup final, as a group of individuals clad in black attacked another set of supporters outside the Axiata Arena. Although it was unclear whether those gathered in front of the venue opposite the National Stadium were there for football or for legendary rock star Amy Search's first solo concert at Axiata Arena, the heat was definitely on. The fan violence erupted as thousands of supporters filled the stadium complex, casting a shadow over what was supposed to be a grand celebration of Malaysian football between Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Sri Pahang in the final. During a walkabout by Timesport to observe the surroundings and fans' reactions ahead of the match, a fight broke out, with objects hurled and physical blows exchanged. Police eventually moved in and diffused the situation. While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, the incident has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the security measures in place for one of the country's most high-profile football events. Meanwhile, JDT's passionate supporters, the Boys of Straits, made their presence felt in a more organised fashion, staging a fiery march with flares and chants as they approached the stadium. Their display, while intense, remained peaceful and added to the electric pre-match atmosphere. The Malaysian Football League (MFL) and the FA of Malaysia (FAM) are expected to investigate the violence and consider whether further action is necessary. As of 7.30pm, fans had started taking their seats in preparation for what is a repeat of the 2014 Malaysia Cup final at the same venue, where Pahang triumphed 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in extra-time.
