Kobe Bryant's wife Vanessa Bryant shares touching image on would-be 24th wedding anniversary
Vanessa Bryant has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, Kobe Bryant, on what would have been their 24th wedding anniversary.
On Friday, April 18, Vanessa shared a nostalgic photo on Instagram to mark the special day.
The couple, who first met in the summer of 1999 and became engaged within six months, were married on April 18, 2001, at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point, California.
Their wedding was a private affair with only about a dozen guests in attendance.
In her tribute, Vanessa highlighted Kobe's iconic No. 24 Los Angeles Lakers jersey, captioning
the post:
'#24. #Anniversary ❤️ @kobebryant ⛪️❤️ 4/18/01 🙏🏽.'
The photo showed the couple at the Rush Hour 2 premiere in July 2001, capturing a moment from early in their life together.
Kobe and Vanessa had four daughters together: Natalia, 22, Bianka, 8, Capri, 5, and the late Gianna, who tragically died alongside her father in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. Gianna was 13, and Kobe was 41 at the time.
In the years since their deaths, Vanessa and her family have worked to keep their memories alive through various memorials and projects.
Just days before the fifth anniversary of Kobe and Gianna's passing, Vanessa announced the upcoming release of Mamba & Mambacita Forever, a collection of over 100 murals and stories celebrating their lasting impact.
The book is set to be released on August 19, shortly before Kobe Bryant Day on August 24. According to a press release, the book 'brings together the images and stories' of the public art installations honouring Kobe and Gianna.
In August 2024, the Los Angeles Lakers and Vanessa unveiled a bronze statue titled 'Girl Dad' outside Crypto.com Arena to honour Kobe's relationship with his daughters.
Vanessa has spoken openly about the pain of losing her husband and daughter, telling
People
in March 2021, 'This pain is unimaginable (but) you just have to get up and push forward. Lying in bed crying isn't going to change the fact that my family will never be the same again. But getting out of bed and pushing forward is going to make the day better for my girls and for me. So that's what I do.'

Chris Scott taken to task over 'defence' Bailey Smith amid repeated controversies
Geelong coach Chris Scott says he has a 'different view' to that of Bailey Smith critics in the wake of a controversial start to his career at the Cattery. AFL chief executive Andrew Dillon personally drove down to Smith's house on the surf coast last week — a story broken by 7NEWS Melbourne's Mitch Cleary on Sunday — to discuss his behaviour on and off the field. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Caroline Wilson takes Chris Scott to task over Bailey Smith. Know the news with the 7NEWS app: Download today Of particular concern was a comment he made on social media which explicitly referenced taking drugs. The AFL opted not to penalise the explosive midfielder for the now-deleted Instagram comment, instead warning Smith that he would be sanctioned should a similar incident arise. Smith was fined for two separate obscene gestures to fans during Gather Round and Easter Monday matches this year. Caroline Wilson took Scott to task on Tuesday night's episode of The Agenda Setters over his defence of Smith, saying he has been too sympathetic of him. 'You've been incredibly defensive of him — I think too defensive,' she said. 'I know that you defend your players, and all coaches do that, but I was so disappointed that he equated winning a premiership with potentially going out and taking drugs. 'And obviously, sometimes, you must find yourself wondering how strong you have to be to stick up for your player and maybe put your principles aside, because I just don't believe that's something you would ever do.' Scott said it's something he has given great thought to. 'I think about it a lot. And I would just challenge your assertion that that's what he did,' he said. 'I think he responded to a troll in the way that modern day players respond to trolls. 'I think it was a joke and it should have been intended that way. 'Because of his history, that's why he gets targeted by these sorts of people and these sorts comments.' Wilson interjected: 'Andrew Dillon didn't think it was a joke.' To which Scott responded: 'No, but he's entitled to his opinion as well. 'I would challenge that as well; I think they understand that it was a joke that fell flat. 'And Bailey understood almost immediately that that was something that he shouldn't have done. 'Our fundamental position on this is that we've got to remember that he's 23 — and other players that we've brought in as well — we were never taking the position that these guys were going to be perfect, and so we knew that we needed to ride with the punches a little bit. 'I think it comes back to how you think about changing behaviour.' Scott was at pains to make the distinction that what the club says publicly about the issue is different to how they're treating it internally. 'Why would you take the position that our football club just thought, 'No, no, that's fine — we'll just let that slide',' Scott said to Wilson. 'Just because we don't come out publicly and embarrass our players and rub salt into the wounds, doesn't mean that that conversation hasn't been had. 'And now you know that even Andrew Dillon's recognised the importance of Bailey to the game, and I think it's reinforced how important the game is to Bailey as well. And I think you'll see a change in this sort of behaviour which, in my view, is right at the margin, in terms of seriousness. 'Now, you have a different view. But we run our football club differently to the way you would.'

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's relationship is on the rocks, source says
There are rumours bubbling that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's relationship is on rocky ground. 'It's over,' one source told Page Six. 'They are waiting till her tour is over before they split.' Perry is currently in Australia on her Lifetimes tour, which began on April 23 and runs through December 7. The pair first met in 2016 at a Golden Globes after-party. They got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019, and welcomed daughter, Daisy Dove, in August of 2020. Sources have told People that stress over the poor reception of her new album, 143, has caused 'tension' in the stars' relationship. 'Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album,' a source told the pub. 'It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.' Another source told the magazine, 'She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It's put stress on their relationship.' Spies tell Page Six that Bloom was spending time in Miami, Florida, last month. The couple previously split for a year in 2017. Perry addressed the past break on Call her Daddy, in 2024, saying, 'We weren't really in it from day one. He was because he had just done a huge time of celibacy, and he had set intentions. I was fresh out of a relationship, and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I need to swim in a different pond, but I had to do a lot real work.' That same month, the pop star told People, 'Orlando and I, when we argue, we argue kinda hot and fast and then cool really quickly. It's like, 'La la la la la, I love you. Alright, let's move on.'' 'We are fire, fire, fire, and so [Daisy] sees all of that,' she continued. 'He's a real sage. We both have parts of ourselves. There's two parts of us, our highest good, and then our carnal, material self. Ego. When the ego is running the show, then it's like, 'Whoa.' But when that's in check, then we're both something else.'' The couple have previously said that they've turned to couple's therapy. In 2023 the Pirates of the Caribbean actor opened up about their challenges in Flaunt magazine, saying: 'We're in two very different pools [for their work]. Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands.' He added: 'Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won't lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity.' 'I think we're both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did. And there's definitely never a dull moment,' he continued. Bloom and their daughter attended the Dark Horse singer's recent 11-minute trip to the edge of space on the all-female Blue Origins flight where she kissed the ground upon landing. Page Six have reached out to the couple's rep.

Glen Powell's ‘shattered' ex blasts actor, Sydney Sweeney over romance ‘PR scheme'
Don't miss out on the headlines from Hook Ups & Break Ups. Followed categories will be added to My News. Glen Powell's ex-girlfriend was 'shattered' by manufactured romance rumours that swirled between the actor and his Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney. Gigi Paris reflected on her decision to end things with Powell after he and Sweeney were spotted looking flirty on the set of the 2023 romcom during the latest episode of the Too Much podcast. 'It was just, 'This is what I have to do for my job.' I had two options,' she said. 'I could either pretend like I was going along with everything and have everyone wonder, like, 'Are they hooking up? Are they not hooking up? Is she OK with this? What the f**k?'' The model said her other option was to 'stand up for [herself].' '[I could] say, 'No, I'm actually not OK with this, and I'm walking away,'' she continued. 'So that's what I decided to do.' Glen Powell and Gigi Paris. Picture: glenpowell/Instagram Paris, 32, recalled feeling 'shattered' when whispers of a romance between the Euphoria star, 27, and Powell, 36, hit the rumour mill. 'I just wanted respect, especially if it's gonna be public,' Paris said. 'Like, don't make an ass out of me. Like, just don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know?' Paris slammed Powell for deciding not to shut down the romance rumours. 'Where are you when you just need to stand up and say, 'No, I would never cheat on my girlfriend. I wouldn't do that.' That's all that needed to be said. And that wasn't said. Never once,' she recalled. Paris claimed that Sweeney and Powell were leaning into the gossip because it was 'serving them for their PR' for their movie. Powell and Sydney Sweeney had great chemistry in their rom com Anyone By You … Picture: Ethan Miller/Getty … many wondered if it spilled over into real life. 'Later on, it turned out that it was all, I don't know if there was a relationship there or not, but then they came out to say it was all a PR scheme at the expense of our relationship. Like, it was just crazy,' she said. While Paris acknowledged that 'work comes first' for Powell, it was too much for her and she felt that she had to 'walk away.' 'What sucked was how it was handled. I felt like I was just fed to the dogs,' she confessed. Paris joked that she 'hoped that they'd end up together,' like the fans wanted. 'Because I was like, at least it would make it worth it for me, you know? I hope they are in love or whatnot,' she said. Paris further claimed that Powell dumped her over the phone while he was on location in Australia for the movie. 'I got a phone call from him right when I was about to go to Australia to work — all this s**t was coming out on the Internet,' she remembered, referring to the rumours between Powell and Sweeney. Picture: Dia Dipasupil/Getty 'And he called and said, 'The producers and I have discussed that I think it's best that you don't come to visit.' … And that's when I hung up. And I was like, 'This motherf**ker is done to me,'' she said. Paris fell apart after their call, acknowledging that it was in that moment that she realised their relationship wouldn't make it. 'I thought we had hope, like, maybe when I got there that, like, things would maybe get better,' she said. 'But once I got that phone call, I just knew it was done. I had lost whoever that person was that I loved.' Powell and Sweeney spurred rumours that they were an item after they were seen looking loved-up on set of the comedy in 2023. Paris has revealed the moment when she decided of her then-boyfriend: 'This motherf**ker is done to me.' At the time, Powell was dating Paris and Sweeney was engaged to Jonathan Davino. However, a source confirmed to Page Six in April 2023 that Paris and Powell broke up weeks before rumours surfaced that he and Sweeney were romantically involved. Paris had hinted at their breakup by unfollowing Powell and Sweeney on Instagram and posting a cryptic message in an Instagram caption, writing, 'Know your worth & onto the next.' Sweeney's relationship also crumbled after her sizzling moments with Powell took the internet by storm, with her and Davino breaking up in March after nearly seven years together.
