Man Utd ‘enter shock talks to sign £100m-rated Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson… but must sell host of flops first'

The Sun3 days ago
MANCHESTER UNITED have entered talks with Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson's agent over a potential move, reports claim.
But Stamford Bridge chiefs have allegedly slapped a whopping £100MILLION price tag on the 24-year-old Senegal international.
2
According to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, United have approached Jackson's representative Ali Barat.
But for United to fund such an eye-watering move, minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co. need to flog some deadweight first.
United's stormy finances are well-documented - as is Chelsea's long standing interest in Old Trafford outcast Alejandro Garnacho, who is valued at £70million.
But manager Ruben Amorim knows just the men he wants to sell - the problem is hardly any clubs are jumping for them.
United are currently focused on off-loading their five-player 'Bomb Squad', who have been forced to train alone after 5pm when the rest of the squad have left Carrington.
But Amorim will be boosted by the news that Marcus Rashford is closing in on a dream move to Barcelona, after the clubs reportedly agreed a loan deal, with an option to buy.
Although United prefer permanent move, Barca have allegedly agreed to cover Rashford's staggering £300,000-per-week wages.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have expressed an interest in taking Jadon Sancho off United's hands, after Chelsea paid a £5million forfeit for U-turning on their obligation to buy the winger.
2
Meanwhile, Antony and Tyrell Malacia, who both went out on six month loans to Real Betis and PSV respectively, are up for sale.
Amorim have already signed Matheus Cunha in a £62.5million move from Wolves and are all set to bring Bryan Mbeumo in for £71million next week.

But the hunt for a new No.9 is ongoing, with Rasmus Hojlund clearly not the answer to United's goalscoring woes.
Hojlund missed several clear cut chances during United's goalless pre-season draw with newly promoted Prem side Leeds in Stockholm on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Jackson is up against some stiff competition at Stamford Bridge next season.
Chelsea beat United to Ipswich striker Liam Delap 's signature, with the Blues adding proven Prem goalscorer Joao Pedro for £60million shortly after.
Following Chelsea's Club World Cup glory in the USA, Jackson ended the season with 13 goals and six assists from 37 games.
But 15 of those contributions came in just 30 Premier League appearances.
If United were to ramp up their interest in Jackson, they would likely face competition from AC Milan, who are confident they can prize him away from the Prem.

Thursday's briefing: Rashford unveiled at Barcelona and Liverpool sign Ekitike

At Euro 2025, Aitana Bonmati's extra-time winner saw Spain set up a final clash against England with a 1-0 win over Germany. We have reached an agreement for the transfer of Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike, subject to international clearance 😎 — Liverpool FC (@LFC) July 23, 2025 Liverpool have completed the signing of striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. A deal was reached between the two clubs on Monday for the 23-year-old to join Arne Slot's Premier League champions, which the PA news agency understands to be for a guaranteed £69million plus a potential £10million in add-ons. The striker, who scored 22 goals for Frankfurt in all competitions last season, flew to England on Tuesday to undergo a medical ahead of the deal's completion and will now travel to Asia to join his new Liverpool team-mates on their pre-season tour. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England's finest. From Lineker to Rashford. — FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) July 23, 2025 Marcus Rashford said Barcelona 'feels like home' after joining the LaLiga champions on loan as he refused to criticise Manchester United. Rashford has become the first of United's five wantaway players to find a way out of Old Trafford, landing the move he has desired since January when he instead joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season. Barca's agreement includes an option to make the deal permanent. That clause is reported to be 35million euros (£30.3million) and PA understands the deal sees Barcelona cover Rashford's wages for the campaign. 'I want to win the biggest trophies and feel like Barcelona is a huge club in the football world so it is the perfect place,' Rashford said. 'It feels like home. I feel I made the right decision. I'm excited to get going and eager to play the first game in front of the fans.' Time to go again. We will face Spain in the #WEURO2025 final. 🤩 — Lionesses (@Lionesses) July 23, 2025 Lucy Bronze insisted England had nothing to prove after booking their place in the Euro 2025 final with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over Italy in Geneva. The defending champions were the heavy favourites in the semi-final, but it took another tournament-saving late equaliser from 19-year-old substitute Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly's extra-time winner to ensure England would fight on. The Lionesses' never-say-die attitude has elicited plenty of deserved praise, but opening their tournament with a loss to France, then twice eking out knockout victories from the brink of elimination, has also sparked concern about England's ability to overcome their toughest challenge yet – a meeting with Spain for the title. 'It's hard to stay at the top in international football, so many teams, they have performances, then it's up and down, they develop, but this team just keeps fighting until the end,' Bronze said. 'I feel like we didn't have anything to prove because we've been there, we've done it many, many times. 'It's just the fact that the game's getting better, international football's not as easy as it used to be. Everybody's fighting and everyone wants to win and everyone feels like they can win.' Arsenal transfer news: Three new targets emerge as Mikel Arteta breaks rule for Viktor Gyokeres

Arsenal are tying up the final details in the transfers of Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera, but are also working on new deals in the summer transfer window Arsenal are close to announcing the arrivals of two new players, but will not stop there in the summer transfer window. ‌ Arsenal have already signed Noni Madueke in a £52million transfer from Chelsea, as well as Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Christian Norgaard, with their current spend around £134m this summer. Next up: Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera. ‌ After weeks of negotiations, the arrival of Gyokeres is imminent, while the Gunners have just been waiting for La Liga approval to announce Mosquera. The signing of the centre-forward and centre-back will make it six major signings and well over £200m spent, but they are not satisfied yet. ‌ Mikel Arteta knows that Arsenal need serious reinforcements this summer if they are to bridge the gap between their three successive second-place finishes in the Premier League and top spot. Here Mirror Football tells you what is coming next in north London. Next three targets Arsenal have their sights set upon Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, Newcastle star Anthony Gordon and Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze, according to The Athletic. Rodrygo has been linked with Arsenal all summer, with Arteta wanting to recruit another wide attacker. Rodrygo has slipped down the pecking order at Real, but would still command a big transfer fee. Gordon, meanwhile, may be available after Newcastle splashed £55m to sign Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest. Eze has a £68m release clause at Palace and has also attracted attention from Tottenham this summer. The England star is not agitating for a move, but Arsenal may try their luck in the coming weeks. Arteta breaks transfer rule again Arsenal are close to announcing the signing of Gyokeres after prolonged negotiations with Sporting. The Gunners had initially appeared to prefer Benjamin Sesko, in part due to his younger age. ‌ The fact they have decided on 27-year-old Gyokeres is interesting, because it goes against Arteta's own philosophy in the transfer market. Usually, they avoid signing players who are over the age of 25, believing younger players have a higher ceiling and will retain their value better. However, Gyokeres isn't the first player for which Arsenal have broken that rule this summer, with the arrivals of Arrizabalaga and Norgaard also contradicting their philosophy. Chelsea chase Arsenal targets ‌ Arsenal have been credited with interest in Ajax defender Jorrel Hato and RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons this summer – but now Chelsea could scoop them both up. Hato, a 19-year-old centre-back, has been linked with Liverpool as well, having caught the eye of many scouts with his play. Arsenal have moved ahead with Mosquera instead, so may be out of the race for him. But Simons, an attack-minded midfielder, could fit the brief for the Gunners. However, Chelsea have already approached the Netherlands international to agree terms and are now in pole position for him. 'Chicharito' Hernandez faces backlash in Mexico for 'very sexist' remarks on gender roles

MEXICO CITY — Soccer star Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez is facing backlash from Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum and others for remarks posted on his social media accounts about gender roles. "Chicharito is a very good soccer player," Sheinbaum said at a news conference Wednesday. "But when it comes to his opinion on women ... he still has a lot to learn." She described the former Mexico international's ideas as "very sexist." The former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker, who plays for Chivas, is injured and missed the first two matches of Mexico's Apertura tournament. Over the weekend, he posted several reels and videos, mainly on Instagram. "Don't be afraid to be women, to allow yourselves to be led by a man," the 37-year-old Hernandez said. "Women, you are failing, you are eradicating masculinity, making society hypersensitive." Hernandez, the all-time leading scorer for the Mexican national team with 52 goals, returned to Mexico last year on a two-year deal with Chivas, the team where he began his professional career in 2006. "You women need to learn to accept and honor masculinity," he said in another one of his posts. In another, he said to the camera: "You want a man to provide, but for you, cleaning is patriarchal oppression... interesting." Sheinbaum, a 63-year-old scientist, was elected last year as the first female president in the country's 200-year history. "I'm a mother, I'm a grandmother, I'm also a housewife," the president added Wednesday. "But I'm also the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Women can be whatever we want." Hernandez is a divorced father of two who has a habit of kneeling in the middle of the pitch to pray before the start of matches. He began creating content for a YouTube channel where he portrayed his life as a player with West Ham and his marriage. Hernandez had a low profile on social media before hiring life coach Diego Dreyfus, to whom many attribute much of "Chicharito's" new persona. Criticism followed his recent statements, with some urging him to limit himself to soccer, given that his performance since returning to the Mexican league last year has not been as expected. Hernandez, who also played for Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham and Sevilla, has scored just two goals in 25 matches in his first two tournaments back in Mexico. A few hours after the president's remarks, Hernandez was fined by the by the Gender and Diversity Commission of the Mexican Soccer Federation and by Chivas. "A few days ago, on the social platform Javier Chicharito Hernández made statements that promote sexist stereotypes that are considered media violence and go against gender equality in the sport," a statement from the federation said. The federation did not disclose the amount of the fine but said that a more severe penalty awaits if he does it again. Chivas didn't mention Hernandez by name in announcing its fine, only saying that the team is against "behavior that reinforces stereotypes that limit the freedom, respect, and full development of all people, both inside and outside of sports." This is the first time that the federation has sanctioned a player for misogynistic comments. Earlier this year businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego, the owner of the Mazatlán and Puebla clubs, made harsh statements about female journalists and was left unpunished. Chicharito has been banned from the national team since 2019 after he, alongside other players, organized a non-authorized party in New York after a game against the United States.
