Gurugram (Haryana) [India], April 28 (ANI): Zypp Electric has witnessed a robust financial performance for the fiscal year 2024-25, recording a significant ~50 per cent growth in revenue, which surged from Rs302 crore in FY'24 to ~Rs455 crore in FY'25, further strengthening its position in the rapidly growing electric mobility and last-mile logistics space.
Clients have responded with consistently positive feedback, especially appreciating Zypp Electric's strong and reliable delivery supply chain. In turn, the platform empowered over 1.2 lakh gig delivery partners to boost their earnings via a daily rental EV tech platform equipped with swapping & technician services.
Zypp's fleet operations witnessed significant growth across key cities — Delhi NCR saw a 16 per cent increase, expanding to over 12,000 vehicles; Bangalore achieved a 31 per cent surge, now operating more than 5,000 vehicles; and in Mumbai, operations launched in FY'25 have already scaled to an active fleet of 2,400 vehicles.
The company also scaled up its 3-wheeler business and crossed 900 3W EVs in the wheeler space, catering to last-mile logistics via the driver rentals business. We continue to focus on market leadership from the existing 3 markets to more markets in the coming FY'26 while keeping a strong eye on profitability.'
He added, 'We continue to ride the EV & Quick commerce tailwind & enable thousands of delivery partners to upgrade from ICE vehicles to EV vehicles on an easy rental plan without any high downpayment & EMI hassle backed with maintenance & charging/swapping services on their fingertips which enable them to save Rs 5-6k extra over a petrol vehicle via Zypp Electric rental platform.'

SBI projects fall in India's poverty rates to 4.6% for 2024 amid economic growth

India's poverty rates are expected to fall to 4.6 per cent for the year 2024 amid overall economic growth, reported the news agency ANI on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, citing a State Bank of India (SBI) research report. 'Poverty estimates by SBI and World Bank are remarkably similar.... SBI estimates it at 4.6 per cent in from 5.3 per cent in 2023 as estimated by World Bank' according to the report cited by the news agency. According to an earlier World Bank report, India's extreme poverty rate declined sharply to 5.3 per cent in 2022-23, over a decade when compared with 27.1 per cent levels in 2011-12. These estimates highlight that India has made progress in reducing its poverty levels, and the SBI estimates show an improvement on top of World Bank numbers. According to the agency report, the fall in poverty rates is due to India's new data collection method and updated definition of the metrics. The nation's Household Consumption Expenditure Survey (HCES) now considers the Modified Mixed Recall Period (MMRP) method, as compared to the earlier Uniform Reference Period (URP) method. The report mentions that the new Modified Mixed Recall Period (MMRP) method uses shorter recall periods for items which are purchased more frequently, providing a more accurate picture of the household consumption in the nation. The survey results showed that the consumption in national surveys has increased, which has lowered the estimated poverty levels of the nation, reported the news agency. Using the MMRP method, India's poverty rate dropped from 22.9 per cent to 16.22 per cent under the old $2.15 per day poverty line. India's falling poverty rate is due to the success of its economic reforms, targeted welfare schemes, and improved data systems, reported the news agency. World Bank data showed how India's extreme poverty rate dropped in the last 10 years as free and subsidised food transfers supported the nation's poverty reduction and also contributed to narrowing the rural-urban poverty gap. The international organisation also revised its poverty line threshold for India to $3 per day, compared to the earlier $2.15 per day levels, reported the news agency PTI on 7 June 2025. The extreme poverty rate dropped to 2.3 per cent between 2011-12 and 2022-23 from the earlier 16.2 per cent. According to the agency report citing the World Bank, India's poverty rate at the lower-middle-income country (LMIC) line also declined by 33.7 per cent.

Gadkari announces plans for aerial pods, e-buses to ease traffic woes

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Monday outlined a series of futuristic transport projects, including aerial pods and flash-charging electric buses, aimed at easing traffic congestion and modernising India's public transport infrastructure. Speaking to ANI, Gadkari said the government is exploring an aerial pod transport system between Dhaula Kuan and Manesar — one of the busiest road corridors in the National Capital Region. 'We want to start a pod system in the air from Dhaula Kuan to Manesar because there is a lot of traffic on this road,' he said, adding that similar studies are underway in Bengaluru. In hilly states like Uttarakhand and Jammu & Kashmir, the government is working on plans to connect mountains using vehicles like double-decker buses, he said. Gadkari further mentioned that the government is working on flash-charging electric buses in Nagpur. 'This bus (135-seater) will be executive class with TVs in front. The bus will have a speed of 120 kmph. It will stop for 30 seconds after every 40 kilometres, people will get off and get on. The bus will get charged in 30 seconds and will start bus will be less expensive because it will require less battery power,' Gadkari told ANI. He also said similar electric bus corridors are being planned for key intercity routes including Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Dehradun and Bengaluru-Chennai. US like roads in two years: Gadkari In the same interview, Gadkari also spoke about several key infrastructure projects underway aimed at enhancing connectivity. It includes bringing India's road at par with the ones in the United States, he said. The projects in the pipeline are progressing rapidly. In another two years, you will be able to see that Indian road infrastructure will be similar to that of America,' Gadkari told ANI. 'Some people from America met me and said our infrastructure is better than America,' he said. He also spoke about several other infrastructure projects in progress, including 25 greenfield expressways, a 3,000-km highway to boost port connectivity, and ₹1 trillion worth of roads linking key religious tourism circuits.

Will Delhi Soon Have Flying Buses? What Minister Nitin Gadkari Said

New Delhi: India is actively working on revolutionary public transport systems, including flying buses and ultra-modern electric buses, to ease traffic congestion, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said. "We are working on connecting Dhaula Kuan to Manesar through a pod system in the air, as there is a lot of traffic on that route," Mr Gadkari said in an interview with the news agency ANI. A similar feasibility study is also underway in Pune. #WATCH | When asked about 'flying buses', Union Minister Nitin Gadkari says, "...We want to start a pod system in the air from Dhaula Kuan to Manesar because there is a lot of traffic on this road. We are doing the same study in Bengaluru. In Uttarakhand and Kashmir, we are… — ANI (@ANI) June 9, 2025 "We want to make public transport easier," the minister said. How Will Flying Buses Work? The concept of flying buses in India refers largely to aerial pod-based transport systems, a form of Personal Rapid Transit (PRT). These are small, automatic electric vehicles that run on elevated tracks, either hanging from rails above or riding on top of them. They work like on-demand taxis, meaning you can call a pod, and it will take you straight to your destination without stopping along the way. Each pod can carry around two to six people. Some models used in other countries, like SkyTran, can reach speeds of up to 240 kmph using magnetic technology. Electric Buses Also In Works Mr Gadkari also shared that his ministry was planning a double-decker bus-like system that travels from one mountain to another in states like Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir. "These are part of our efforts to make public transport more efficient and accessible," he said. The ministry has also launched a high-capacity electric bus project in Nagpur. This 135-seater electric bus is equipped with flash-charging technology and will run on the city's ring road. "It will have 135 seats, executive class seating, a TV in front, and a top speed of 120 kmph," Mr Gadkari said. "The bus will stop every 40 km, passengers will get off and on within 30 seconds, and in that time, the bus will also get charged." The buses will also have "bus hostesses," similar to air hostesses on flights, the minister revealed. Fares for these futuristic electric buses are expected to be 30 per cent lower than diesel buses. Once the Nagpur model is rolled out successfully, the government plans to expand this service across key corridors: Delhi-Jaipur, Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Dehradun, Bengaluru-Chennai, and Mumbai to Nashik and Pune, he said.
