I'm glad Taylor Swift isn't my daughter-in-law, says Denise Welch
Denise Welch, the Loose Women star, said that when her son Matty Healy was dating the 14-time Grammy winner, things were 'tricky'.
Ms Welch, 67, suggested that it was hypocritical that those close to Swift cannot publicly talk about her life, only for the singer to 'write a whole album about it'.
Mr Healy, 36, and Ms Swift, 35, briefly dated from May to June 2023, following the latter's split from British actor Joe Alwyn.
The interview on US TV show Watch What Happens Live! turned to the subject of Ms Swift after host Andy Cohen asked about the singer's 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department.
Several of the songs are thought to be about Mr Healy, including I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can), and The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.
Ms Welch said: 'Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode, but not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost,' prompting the audience to gasp.
'Not that I have anything against her at all,' Ms Welch continued, adding: 'It was just – it was tricky'.
Ms Welch suggested that she and her son, the singer with the band The 1975, were discouraged from speaking out while he was seeing Ms Swift.
She said: 'She – listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it.'
According to Ms Welch, her son took the controversy over The Tortured Poets Department, Ms Swift's 11th studio album, 'with good grace'.
'He is very happy with his amazing fiancée Gabriella, who is gorgeous,' she said, referring to the model Gabbriette Bechtel.
'So, we've moved on.'
Ms Swift went public with her current relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce, 35, in October 2023.
In The Tortured Poets Department, which came out last year, she sings about Mr Kelce as well, and paints a vivid picture of him running towards her with no shirt on in the song The Alchemy.

‘Glitz, Glam, and a Damn Good Time' Review: A Wealth of Amusement
America's Gilded Age was a period characterized by massive income inequality between a superwealthy plutocracy (think Astors, Morgans and Vanderbilts) and an increasingly restive workforce. There are obvious parallels to today, including the propensity of the superrich to throw epic parties breathlessly reported in the media. In 'Glitz, Glam, and a Damn Good Time,' however, Jennifer Wright argues that those late-19th-century parties were about more than conspicuous consumption. They allowed a smart, glamorous extrovert to shed some of the stuffy constraints of her era, acquire a social power that would increase her family's prosperity and be a model for others. Marion Graves Anthon, or Mamie, as she was known, was a barely literate and rather plain young woman whose family had fallen on hard times. Her only assets were her natural wit and aplomb, but in a twist worthy of Edith Wharton, these were enough for her to snare a suitor who, according to his own family history, had been born 'with a silver spoon in his mouth big enough to be called a soup ladle.' As a young man, Stuyvesant Fish had rejected his patrician father's choice of law as a suitable career and went to work for the Illinois Central Railroad. Mamie enraptured this rather dull, Columbia-educated man, and in 1876 they married. They were a devoted couple. 'He thought she was a hoot,' Ms. Wright tells us, 'and she loved that he was a constantly amused audience for her jokes and adventures.' The Fish fortune multiplied. But while 'Stuyvesant seemed to sense that railroads were going to be huge,' Ms. Wright suggests that 'Mamie seemed to understand that extroverted, exciting women who loved the spotlight were the future.'

The singer had suffered from coronary artery disease as well as Parkinson's, according to the certificate filed at a register office in London and obtained by The New York Times on Tuesday. Osbourne died on July 22 at 76. An email from The Associated Press requesting confirmation from the registry office in Hillingdon Council in northwest London, which covers the district where the Black Sabbath singer was reportedly officially pronounced dead, was not immediately returned. Osbourne's representatives didn't immediately return the AP's emailed requests for comment. The document was submitted by Osbourne's daughter Aimée Osbourne the New York Times reported. Osbourne died of '(a) Out of hospital cardiac arrest (b) Acute myocardial infarction (c) Coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease with autonomic dysfunction (Joint Causes),' the certificate states. Osbourne, also a somewhat unexpected reality TV star, announced in 2020 that he had Parkinson's disease after suffering a fall. In announcing his death, his family asked for privacy and said that he was with relatives when he died. Fans came out in droves from across the country to mourn his death in his hometown of Birmingham last week. Osbourne had his final show there just weeks before his death, as admirers watched the heavy metal icon perform while seated on a black throne. 'I don't know what to say, man, I've been laid up for like six years. You have no idea how I feel — thank you from the bottom of my heart,' Osbourne said during his performance. 'You're all … special. Let's go crazy, come on.'
