Oleksandr Usyk's three-man shortlist for final fight includes Jake Paul and familiar foe
Oleksandr Usyk has a stunning three-man hit-list - which includes Jake Paul - ahead of his final fight.
Earlier this year, the Ukrainian had revealed he has two more fights in him before officially calling it a day. Last month, Usyk would go on to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion after brutally knocking out Daniel Dubois in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.
Ahead of his final fight, it would appear that several names are in the run-in, and the Ukrainian could even switch sports. Since moving up to heavyweight, Usyk has defeated Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Dubois twice. Despite clearing out the top dogs in boxing's heaviest division, it would appear that a third fight with Fury could very well be on the cards.
According to 112 Ukraine, Fury is still in consideration for a trilogy fight. The pair first went head-to-head back in May 2024 - with Usyk going on to win the undisputed heavyweight title for the first time after scoring a split decision victory. Seven months later, the two stars traded leather for a second time. Once again, the Ukrainian emerged triumphant after another points win over the 'Gypsy King.' Just weeks after the second defeat, Fury retired from the sport, only to announce his return several months later.
While Fury later backtracked on his comeback plans, a third fight with the Ukrainian would be enough to officially lure him out of retirement. Another name on the the 38-year-old's list is heavyweight sensation, Joseph Parker. Usyk has been ordered by the WBO to defend his belt against the Kiwi next - or else vacate the gold strap. Parker's team claimed that no talks have taken place as of yet.
The final name on the stacked list is Paul. Both Usyk and Paul faced off in the ring after the former's win over Dubois last month - hinting at a potential showdown between the pair. Rumours of a fight quickly began to circulate, but not in the boxing ring, but in the octagon.
Usyk's team have welcomed a potential showdown with the 28-year-old. Director of Team Usyk Sergey Lapin, recently revealed talks are underway for Usyk to face Paul in the MMA cage as early as the start of 2026. Speaking to Plejmo, Lapin said: "The team is currently working on the next fight. We're looking at a few options, focusing on those who make sense both sport-wise and in terms of audience interest and status.
"Almost every fighter has called out Jake Paul. But our story is different. For us it's about MMA, something non-standard, and that's where its power lies. We're not talking about a boxing match with Oleksandr Usyk, no disrespect to Jake, but in MMA the chances are more even. Jake has some experience, while Oleksandr would have to adapt quickly. This could become a massive show with a huge global audience. Talks are already underway, and if everything lines up, the fight could happen early next year."
When is Oleksandr Usyk's next fight?
It appears Usyk will take a well-deserved break for the remainder of the year to relax and enjoy precious moments with his family before considering his next move in the squared circle. Following his victory over Dubois, the Ukrainian champion reflected on his age, declaring: "38 is a young guy, remember! 38 is only the start!
"I want to say thank you to Jesus Christ. I want to say thank you to my team and Wembley, thank you so much! It's for the people. Nothing is next. It's enough, next, I don't know. I want to rest. My family, my wife, my children, I want to rest now. Two or three months, I want to just rest." He continued: "Maybe it's Tyson Fury," Usyk added. "Maybe we have three choices, Derek Chisora and Anthony Joshua. Maybe Joseph Parker. Listen, I cannot now say because I want to go back home."

Andrea Berta working to sell five Arsenal players with two more available at right price
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta has been tasked with raising cash through player sales ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline Andrea Berta has worked around the clock to secure new signings for Mikel Arteta since joining Arsenal as sporting director in March. His immediate influence on both dealings and the club's strategy was reflected via the £63.7million statement capture of Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres. During his first few weeks at his new desk, Berta made a big internal push for the Swede, who looks poised to lead the line at Old Trafford in next Sunday's Premier League curtain-raiser. There has also been progress on a raft of new contracts at the Sobha Realty Training Centre with Gabriel Magalhaes, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri also penning fresh terms in the past two months. However, Berta's focus will now switch to outgoings during the final weeks of the transfer window. This is where Italian chief Berta's expertise and extensive network of contacts will truly come into play. So far, Arsenal have only generated a mere £8.57m through player sales after flogging left-back Nuno Tavares to Lazio and Marquinhos to Cruzeiro. There's mutual recognition at boardroom level that this must improve. Chelsea have just raised an estimated £45m by offloading Armando Broja and Lesley Ugochukwu to Burnley while Darwin Nunez's switch to Al-Hilal means Liverpool have recouped £202.5m in sales alone this summer. Speaking after the 3-0 win over Athletic Club, Arteta made it clear the club need to get players out of the door. He said when asked if Arsenal's business where incomings are concerned is done: "Let's see what happens in terms of where the squad is in the next few weeks. We are actively looking at options, there are a few players that maybe have to leave as well. We are open to seeing what happens." A host of fringe stars are up for grabs. Fulham remain in discussions over a swoop for Reiss Nelson following his loan spell at Craven Cottage last season. Marco Silva's side recently paused those talks and pivoted to Shakhtar Donetsk's Kevin but their proposal was knocked back by the Ukrainian side and the 22-year-old also failed to warm to a move to west London, anyway. Nelson, who returned to training with Arsenal in La Manga after undergoing hamstring surgery in February, also has other suitors from the Premier League. Fulham have been trying to structure an initial loan but the Gunners favour a permanent deal even though Nelson made an impression on their pre-season tour of Asia. Arsenal view him as one of their most-sellable assets and any transfer would also reflect 100 per cent profit against PSR regulations as he's a Hale End academy graduate. Then there's Fabio Vieira, a £34.7m arrival from Porto in the summer of 2022 that is still yet to find his feet at the Emirates. Stuttgart are continuing discussions over a permanent transfer with Arsenal seeking a package worth up to £17.35m (€20m). The Germans have the cash to hand as Frenchman Enzo Millot has opted to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli. Vieira has been told he can depart and is yet to feature in pre-season after being handed an extensive break by Arteta following his involvement at the Club World Cup with Porto. The Portuguese giants also recently made a £23.4m offer - an initial loan with an obligation to buy - for defender Jakub Kiwior but it was not entertained by Arsenal, who are still easing Gabriel back into the side following hamstring surgery in April. Kiwior is also admired by Juventus and other Italian sides but unless he makes it clear he wants to go - Arteta would be more than happy to keep the Pole as he is highly-rated by the club. Goalkeeper Karl Hein is attracting interest from Levante and Rangers, Sevilla had also been keen but they're tying up a loan swoop for Newcastle's Odysseas Vlachodimos. Levante are eyeing a loan but Arsenal are prioritising a permanent sale as it's believed the Estonia international's contract expires in 2026. Oleksandr Zinchenko can also depart as his deal is also up next summer but his wages are an issue. AC Milan made enquiries earlier in the window but since then, there has been minimal movement despite speculative links with Fulham. Arsenal have also struggled to find buyers for midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga following loan spells with Sevilla and Luton Town. The Gunners are ready to move the Belgian on but they're yet to receive formal offers for the 25-year-old. After Saturday's win, Arteta observed a post-match training session on the pitch and those that played limited or no minutes were involved including Vieira and Hein, who were not even in the squad against Athletic Club. Striker Gabriel Jesus has attracted interest from Brazil but he is currently prioritising his recovery after undergoing knee surgery in January. Respectable bids for Leandro Trossard would also likely be considered, though it's still not guaranteed he will depart. The Premier League title contenders are open to adding another marquee addition but their spending power may yet be dictated by the funds they recoup from departures.

Luke Littler battling 'awful' Big Fish issue after day with koala bears in Aussie Zoo
The World Champion is soaking up the sights Down Under but it wasn't plain sailing in his World Series opener Relieved Luke Littler spent a day at the zoo with koala bears and kangaroos before surviving issues with a Big Fish in Australia. The Nuke scrambled through a last-leg decider in his World Series encounter as he won 6-5 against impressive New Zealander Haupai Puha. Littler, the reigning World Champion, had to break the throw in the deciding leg having been taken all the way by the Kiwi. The teenager had a chance to win it in the previous leg, but, having opted to leave a Big Fish 170 checkout, missed it and had to break Puha's throw to advance into a last-eight meeting with home hero Damon Heta. Littler struggled to explain why he left the showbiz shot in the penultimate leg as he said: 'Yeah, I don't even know. I think it's just for myself. Obviously at that point I was 5-4 up. Obviously maybe I should have tried hitting the 180. I knew he had the darts in the last leg. But I just thought I'd try and leave it [the 170] and try and finish it. If not, I'd have to break the throw in the last leg. 'It was a slow start, but that's what happens when you don't practise from the Matchplay, not picked up a dart. It's one of them, it's first round, it's never easy against anyone and it's always good to just get off to a good start. I've just been chilling out and doing what I usually do, but now I'm here it's down to work.' Littler had the spent prior to the game sightseeing and said: 'I went to the zoo. There was koala bears, kangaroos, goats, and yeah, there was just loads. I think for us players, I think it's good to get out of the hotel. Like 85-90 per cent of the time, we're just stuck in a hotel, so it's good to get out and experience things that we probably won't ever do again.' Littler is fighting jet-lag and, speaking straight after his win, said: 'Oh, it's awful. Same as last year. I think just stay up as long as you can until it's a suitable time to go to bed and that's what I've been trying to do. I feel okay now. It's 10.25pm, so hopefully I'll get back and I'll sleep well.' Despite the gruelling travels, World No.1 Luke Humphries says it's important for the top stars to support the events Down Under with a World Series looming in New Zealand next week following the Wollongong tournament. Littler agreed and said: 'I think we've got to do most of the World Series. Obviously we've seen Michael [van Gerwen] has not been here for another two, three years. I think as of now I'll do two years, miss a year, two years, miss a year. So yeah, hopefully I can pick up the trophy and come back in 2027.'
