Prime Minister vows to continue support for Andhra Pradesh's growth
After the adjournment of both the Houses of Parliament, the TDP MPs met the PM. Thanking Modi for attending the International Yoga Day in Visakhapatnam, and also for the cooperation being extended by the Centre to Andhra Pradesh, the TDP MPs sought more support to the State.
Highlighting the issues of Andhra Pradesh, the TDP MPs informed the PM that the increased US tariffs will severely impact the aqua, chilli and other products being exported from the State.
It is learnt that the Prime Minister patted Vizianagaram MP Kalisetti Appala Naidu for his innovative approach.
Emerging out of the meeting, the TDP MPs said the PM assured to continue the Central support to the State, and also lauded the achievements of AP under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

Promotion of E-Sports - E-sports are formally recognised as a competitive sport.- The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports will set up training academies, research centres, and tech platforms.- Incentive schemes and integration into the national sports policy will bolster the ecosystem. 2. Encouragement of Social and Educational Games- The Central Government will categorise and register age-appropriate, safe games.- Special focus on games with educational, cultural, and skill-development value.- Campaigns will promote gaming's role in digital literacy and constructive engagement. 3. Total Ban on Real-Money Online Games- A blanket ban on offering, advertising, or facilitating fantasy sports, rummy, poker, online lotteries, or betting apps.- Financial institutions are barred from processing related transactions.- Platforms that violate the law can be blocked under the IT Act, 2000. 4. Establishment of Online Gaming Authority - A national-level regulator will be formed to monitor and register online games. - The Authority will have powers to issue guidelines, enforce compliance, and handle complaints. 5. Stringent Penalties for Violations - Offering money games: up to 3 years imprisonment and/or Rs 1 crore fine. - Advertising money games: up to 2 years imprisonment and/or Rs 50 lakh fine. - Transactions linked to banned games: up to 3 years imprisonment and/or Rs 1 crore fine. - Repeat offenders face up to 5 years jail and Rs 2 crore fine. - All key offences are cognisable and non-bailable. 6. Corporate Liability - Company officers are held accountable unless due diligence is proven. - Independent directors uninvolved in decisions are exempt from liability. 7. Enforcement and Security Provisions - The Bill addresses addiction, financial losses, suicides, and the use of platforms for money laundering and terror financing. - Enforcement officers are empowered to search, seize, and arrest without a warrant. - Aligned with laws like the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. 8. Bangladesh's accusations are misplaced, says Centre
The Union government on Wednesday (August 20, 2025) said that India does not allow foreign outfits to carry out political activities targeting any country from Indian territory. Bangladesh had accused India of hosting Awami League (AL) leaders and described the alleged activities of these leaders as an 'unambiguous affront' to the people and state of Bangladesh. Randhir Jaiswal, Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs described Bangladesh's concerns as 'misplaced'. 'The Government of India is not aware of any anti-Bangladesh activities by purported members of the Awami League in India or of any action that is contrary to Indian law,' Mr. Jaiswal said. Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh had accused India of allowing 'growing anti-Bangladesh activities' by the leadership of the Awami League which was banned last year after the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was overthrown in a student-people uprising prompting Ms. Hasina to seek shelter in India. 'Any form of political activity campaigning against the interests of Bangladesh by Bangladeshi nationals, particularly by the absconding leaders/activists of a banned political party, staying on Indian soil, legally or illegally, including the establishment of offices is an unambiguous affront against the people and State of Bangladesh,' said the MoFA Bangladesh. The statement cited an event held at the Press Club of India on July 21 where a civil society outfit with ties with Bangladeshi diaspora spoke about the law and order situation in Bangladesh and distributed books and reading materials during the event and said such activities 'may trigger public sentiment in Bangladesh which may in turn impact the ongoing efforts of the two countries in further enhancing the relationship between the two closest neighbours.' The interim government of Bangladesh has banned Awami League citing the involvement of its top leaders in the crackdown against civilians and students during July-August 2024 before the collapse of the Sheikh Hasina government. Though many Awami League leaders are in hiding, the party maintains a large cadre base who recently clashed with ruling establishment's student supporters in Gopalganj. 'India reiterates its expectation that free, fair and inclusive elections will be held at the earliest in Bangldesh to ascertain the will and mandate of the people,' said Mr. Jaiswal.

NDA allies back govt on Bills to sack arrested ministers
BJP-LED NDA's key allies on Wednesday came out strongly in support of the three Bills which seek to remove a Union or State minister facing allegations of corruption or serious offences if they have been in custody for at least 30 days. The Bills triggered protests from the Opposition, which warned of its potential misuse against rivals. However, the BJP's allies — including the JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), and TDP — rallied behind the government, framing the legislation as a step towards cleaning up politics and enhancing transparency. JD(U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said: 'Running the government from Tihar Jail — this is the Opposition's new definition of democracy! Stay in jail for 30 days, remain a minister on the 31st — this is the Opposition's idea of morality! The people want answers, but the Opposition wants power — this is the real clash! Calling every Bill that demands accountability 'dictatorial' — this is morality's grand farce!' LJP (Ram Vilas) national vice president A K Bajpai dismissed the Opposition's concerns over misuse of the law. He said: 'It will apply to all. Potential misuse of law is no argument. All laws can be misused. TADA and POTA were misused. Does it mean we stop making laws? And then this Bill also includes the PM. This situation has arisen due to the episodes of Arvind Kejriwal, Satyender Jain and Hemant Soren.' Bajpai's remarks referred to the arrests of prominent political leaders, including former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal while he was in office, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, who resigned a day before his arrest, and former Delhi minister Satyender Jain. The TDP also endorsed the Bills. Spokesperson JyotsnaTirunagari told The Indian Express: 'From 2004 to 2014 we had seen several misdeeds in terms of corruption. From 2014 to 2024 there has been a push towards accountability and transparency. The legislation is towards this end. We think it will bring accountability and transparency into the system.' The TDP's backing comes despite its own uneasy history with law enforcement agencies. Party chief and Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu was arrested last year in a multi-crore skill development scam case.
