‘Mario Kart-style' driver arrested for driving recklessly at 90 mph, Modesto police say
(FOX40.COM) — A man was arrested Sunday for allegedly driving recklessly at more than 90 miles per hour through Modesto.
The California Highway Patrol described the suspect as a 'Mario Kart-style' driver. Mario Kart is a popular racing video game for Nintendo that revolves around go-kart racers, including Super Mario. In the game, drivers weave in and out of lanes, swerve, and violate a variety of traffic laws.

Police referred to the suspect as the alias, 'Mario,' and said he was observed making making several unsafe lane changes and tailgating other motorists. CHP said, a specially marked vehicle, which is a more discreet police car, was used to catch him.
'Game Over,' CHP said.

Suspected DUI driver dies in 3-vehicle crash in Rio Linda, CHP says
RIO LINDA – A suspected DUI driver died in what appears to be a head-on crash in Rio Linda Saturday night, the California Highway Patrol said. Around 9:20 p.m., officers responded to Rio Linda Boulevard just north of E Street for a three-vehicle crash. The CHP said one driver, who is suspected of DUI, died. At least one other person was transported to the hospital, officers said. The road was closed but was expected to open shortly after 11:15 p.m. No other information was available at this time as the crash is under investigation.

Alleged DUI driver arrested for deadly hit-and-run in Perris
An alleged DUI driver was arrested for a hit-and-run crash that left a woman dead on a 215 Freeway onramp in Perris last week. It happened at around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday on the Placentia Avenue onramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. It was there that officers say the driver of a Ford F-150 driving southbound on the freeway before entering the ramp struck a woman who was also heading in the same direction on foot. Instead of stopping to help the woman, the driver fled from the area. With the assistance of the Menifee Police Department, the driver was located and taken into custody, CHP said. They were booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, felony hit-and-run, driving with a suspended or revoked license and vehicular manslaughter. CHP issues endangered missing advisory for man last seen in Mountain View
(KRON) — The California Highway Patrol has issued an endangered missing advisory in Santa Clara, San Mateo and Alameda Counties for 40-year-old Hugo Garcia. The alert was activated on behalf of the Mountain View Police Department. CHP said Garcia was last spotted on Friday at 8 p.m. in the area of W. El Camino Real and S. Shoreline Boulevard in Mountain View. He is believed to be traveling on foot. Garcia is described as 5-feet-5-inches tall, weighing 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. At the time of his appearance, Garcia was wearing a gray Golden State Warriors t-shirt, beige pants, and brown shoes, said officials.
