Smith Showing Confidence at QPR
'I'm very happy to be here. I'm really proud and grateful for the opportunity QPR have given me to showcase my talent,' said Smith.
'QPR is well-known for developing young players. The style of play here is similar to how we play in South Africa and it's a style that I really like.'
Asked to describe his playing style, a clearly confident Smith said: 'I would say I'm like a modern defender; composed, good on the ball but I also enjoy defending.'
As for his exploits at the Under-20 Afcon, Smith said: 'It was incredible!
'Scoring the winning goal in the semi-final against Nigeria was amazing and we made history by winning the final.
'It was very special to win Player of the Tournament - it's very rare for it to go to a defender, it usually goes to an attacking player, so that was amazing for me.'

Stellies put one foot in MTN8 final after home victory over Sekhukhune
Stellenbosch FC defeated Sekhukhune United by 2-0 in the first leg of the MTN8 semifinal at a wet Danie Craven Stadium in the Cape Winelands. First half goals from Nigerian player Kazie Enyinnaya and Devin Titus saw the Sete Barker side put one foot in the decider of the lucrative competition. Enyinnaya opened the scoring on 23 minutes after he connected well with a corner kick by former Mamelodi Sundowns player Lesiba Nku. Stellies doubled their lead 10 minutes later when Nku set up Titus, who made no mistake against Babina Noko's keeper Renaldo Leaner.

Steve Barker's Stellenbosch FC hold sway over Eric Tinkler's Sekhukhune United in MTN8 semi
Stellenbosch FC Devon Titus celebrates his goal against Sekhukhune United in the MTN8 first-leg semi-final at Danie Craven Stadium. Picture: BackpagePix Steve Barker may have played down the stranglehold he holds over managerial rival Eric Tinkler in the build-up to this MTN8 semifinal first-leg, but Barker was once again the one smiling after Stellenbosch FC comfortably beat Sekhukhune United 2-0 at the Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday evening. The victory was Barker's eighth success over a Tinkler-coached side after previously dominating the iKapa derby when the former Bafana Bafana midfielder was at the helm of now-relegated Cape Town City. But not even a change of teams and cities have been able to improve Tinkler's fortunes. It's hard though to imagine how this first-leg could have gone better for Barker and his Stellies troops. The only disappointment on the night for the home side was Ashley Cupido limping off after just seven minutes due to injury again, but this was compensated for with substitute Lesiba Nku delivering an inspired performance.
