Local libraries promote Windsor's upcoming Green Bin program

The green bins coming to Windsor-Essex seen in Windsor, Ont. on July 9, 2025. (Gary Archibald/CTV News Windsor) Libraries in Windsor-Essex are promoting the upcoming Green Bin program with bookmarks and a new book. The Essex County Libraries and Windsor Public Libraries are partnering with Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority to get more Green Bin information to residents. The libraries are rotating through five Green Superheroes weekly, allowing residents to collect five Green Superhero bookmarks. A new local book, The Apple Core, is part of the initiative. Reminding residents to use their Green Bins, the book is customized for the EWSWA Green Bin program. The campaign continues throughout the summer, as Green Bins are distributed to residents across the region. From July to October, approximately 120,000 homes will receive a Green Bin. The bins are an effort to reduce garbage and keep food waste out of the landfills.
