Boots Launched A Beauty Box Worth Over £100 For Just £40 – And It's Amazing

Graziadaily2 days ago

Boots is a force to be reckoned with. It boasts the very best of beauty all under one roof, it's making skin health more accessible, and it curates the kind of beauty boxes you'll want to discuss in the girls' group chat. Whether it's dropping a new Love Island staples edit, a box that encourages us to Make More Room For Beauty, or an assortment of blockbuster beauty buys, the high street juggernaut knows the picks that make beauty buffs tick. While many of the brand's previous offerings functioned as the perfect accompaniment to getting you party-ready, Boots' newest box takes a more low-fi approach. Enter: The Indulgent Self Care Edit, £40, which really is as good as it sounds.
Allowing for a moment of respite, the pamper box is everything you need to soak up the slow moments. Packed with 10 brilliant soothers (seven of which are full size by the way), the edit brings the spa experience home with rejuvenating, feel-good products primed to put you at ease. Spanning luxury labels such as Shiseido and industry shakers like Byoma, the box brings together an array of skin, body and hair essentials to help cover all the bases for pure self-care.
Beauty writer Sameeha Shaikh using the Boots Pamper Beauty Box
Worth £156.34, the edit is on offer for just £40, meaning you could save an impressive £116.34. One happy shopper has already reviewed the box saying, 'Amazing box, pretty much full sized everything except the little sample sized sun cream with a claw clip and pair of luxury eye masks thrown in. This box is well thought out and put together with a lovely selection of products perfect for pampering. There are no duds as with some boxes and the price is very good value. Really happy with this.'
They're not exaggerating. After the trying the box myself, I can confirm it doesn't disappoint. I was impressed to find full size bottles of Byoma's Body Smoothing Body Serum and Sundae's Orange Crush Whipped Shower Foam, which together amplified my everything shower, as well as Liz Earle's cult Skin Repair™ Light Cream and a Shiseido Vital Perfection Uplifting and Firming Express Eye Mask, which perked up my complexion in minutes, not that I was counting them...

Definitely worth what you pay! I plan to buy a few of the products again and again." There have been a few negative comments about the travel kit, with one person saying: "The bag could do with being a little deeper, however the products are really good value for money. It's a good little gift for someone or even nice to treat yourself." Yet, someone else said: "A good mix of products. My favourite was the Rodial dragons blood followed by the rest of the products and the bag itself. Definitely recommend 10/10"

Viral primary school pupil hailed as budding TV success

Carly, 11, and her dad Ryan Pollock, better known on the video sharing platform as Daddy & Carly (or Wee Mary and Jimmy Boy), first started posting comedy sketches online during lockdown. Now, the pair have taken the app by storm with their 'Pilton Tea' videos and Carly's presenter-esque "hello, my lovelies" catchphrase. Talking to the Sunday National, Carly and Ryan shared how they ensure the youngster isn't exposed to trolling, the opportunities that have arisen from their online popularity, and Carly's hopes for the future. READ MORE: 'It's just great': Japan ambassador tries Irn-Bru on visit to whisky distillery 'It started during lockdown, when Carly wanted TikTok. Me and mum were a bit hesitant at first, thinking she was too young, then I was volunteered by mum to do it with her', Ryan explained. 'I thought 'och we'll just have a carry on with it', so we started putting our own twist on trends and doing sketches where Carly was dressed up as an old lady and pretending Nicola Sturgeon was her pal. It ended up going quite viral. 'We did shoutouts on our page for a bit and ended up raising about £1000 for the NHS.' When lockdown ended and Ryan went back to work, they stopped posting for a few years. A couple of months ago they started doing their 'Pilton Tea' series and from there, their popularity exploded. Their original account was deleted, but within two weeks the new account amassed around 190,000 followers — alongside 9.7 million views on one particular video, leading to a special shopping trip for Carly and her family. Carly said: 'There's so many more opportunities now. We got invited to Boots a few days ago and we have an agent now which is so cool. It's just amazing.' Because of Carly's age, the account is run by and heavily monitored by her parents. They don't let the 11-year-old read any comments or make videos by herself, and ensure that any hateful messages left under their videos are deleted and the users blocked from the page. Though she comes across as extremely confident and excitable online, the youngster described herself as actually being 'quite shy', noting that her on-camera personality is partially a character. She told the Sunday National that some boys were showing her videos through a window on her visit to a secondary school, but she seems to take it all in her stride. 'People from school watch my videos a lot, and sometimes it's a wind up, but most of the time they're being really nice. It's quite funny', she explained. READ MORE: Edinburgh Film Festival to conclude with Irvine Welsh documentary premiere The way she carries herself in her videos has led to an influx of comments demanding the TikTok star is given a slot on television, remarking she could be the next big thing à la Lorraine or Alison Hammond. High praise and growing celebrity haven't went to her head, however — Carly 'So I want to go to acting school and hopefully one day be on the telly like all the comments say. 'But if not, I go to a lot of youth centres and one day I want to be a youth worker, open my own centre and do drama classes for other kids.'

Taking to Reddit, she shared how she took her hair from the size of a pinky in a ponytail to long and luscious using this one clever hack. 5 A woman has shared her secret for thick hair Credit: Reddit 5 She said her thin hair pulled into a ponytail the size of her pinky Credit: Reddit 5 Coconut oil from Asda costs just £2 Credit: Asda Applying coconut oil to her hair is one full-proof way of ensuring it grows in length and thickness, she said. She added: " I put coconut oil in my ends and saturate them. I let that sit for at least three hours, or ideally overnight with my hair braided and a plastic bag on my head." The oil can be purchased from Asda for as little as £2, which has left many rushing to get their hands on a pot. One commenter, who shared their own problems with thinning hair, enthused: "Thank you so much! I'm going to incorporate your tips!" Whilst another added: "So happy to see this post." For other wonder hacks to maintain thick and healthy hair, content creator Gabriella Barras says anti-dandruff shampoo can do the trick. Gabriella who lives in Dubai, revealed the £6 Boots buy that 'works wonders' for hair loss. Not only this, but she also shared another product that is slightly more expensive, but is 'the best' for hair growth. Posting on social media, the blonde beauty shared a snap of her thinning hairline in March, followed by an image of her fuller hairline just one month later. Alongside the pictures, Gabriella said: 'This is what my hair looked like one month ago and this is what my hair looks like today.' I'm a hairdresser and red flag means your stylist is lying about your thin hair Gabriella then revealed: 'I got quoted 15,000 Dirhams at a hair clinic in Dubai to fix my hair problem - I started noticing that my hair was falling out, especially in my hairline, I was losing so much hair in the shower.' But without paying the shocking hair clinic fee and splashing the cash on expensive treatments, Gabriella was able to notice fast results thanks to two high-street products, as she beamed: 'Then within four weeks, I got it down to this, without any clinical treatment.' First things first, Gabriella expressed that Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, which is currently on offer for just £6.12 from Boots, 'worked wonders' for her hairline. She acknowledged: 'This shampoo is game changing - I would wash my hair with this, leave it on my scalp for five minutes, let it soak in, and from the first wash of using this, I noticed a crazy difference.' Everything you need to know about hair loss Marie Nieuwoudt, a Group Education Manager at CLOUD NINE told Fabulous everything you need to know regarding hair loss. What are the common causes of hair loss? Marie explained: "There are so many reasons why someone may face hair loss. "The number one reason is usually hormonal changes or underlying health conditions (like thyroid conditions), and stress of course also plays a big part in changes to your hair health. "But another very common day-to-day cause is excessive damage to your hair created by mistakes in your styling routines – and this a big one to be aware of for people who are regularly applying heat to their hair! "It's important to know the right temperature for your hair type when using styling tools, as this is essential in reducing unintentional heat damage. "I also see a lot of people facing hair loss resulting from hereditary conditions, which are passed down from generation to generation." What are the best hairstyles people should try to reduce their hair loss? According to Marie: "Less is more when it comes to hair loss! It's important to be gentle with your hair, so a low-maintenance style that limits pulling on your scalp will be your best option. "Putting your hair up in a tight ponytail or adding hair clips can cause stress points at the roots. "Instead, try leaving your hair down, or out. "You're not limited in your options, but it pays to be intentional with your hair styling. Using tools which limit damage to your hair is vital. "Discussing your concerns with a hairdresser or hair loss specialist is also a great way to find styles that suit your specific needs, whilst still making sure you look and feel your best." How long does it take for hair loss to stop? If you're itching to know when your hair will grow back, Marie confirmed: "Hair loss is a personal journey – and it's different for everyone, so it's very difficult to put exact timings on this process. "Every head of hair is unique, and so too is your hair loss experience. "As always, you can speak to a professional hairdresser or trichologist about your specific concerns and hair changes, and they'll be able to help you manage those expectations. "I can't emphasise enough how important it is to be kind to your hair. Most people treat their hair quite roughly, and this is something you definitely want to avoid when dealing with hair loss in particular. "Make sure you're choosing products and styling routines that you know are good for your hair, rather than causing additional damage." Then, Gabriella highlighted that she also uses Regaine for Men Extra Strength Scalp Foam, which contains 5% Minoxidil. Gabriella stressed: 'This Regaine For Men is the best - every single night before I went to bed, I was dotting the Minoxidil all over my hairline.' Thrilled with the product, she claimed that it 'soaks in really well' and 'doesn't make your hair greasy.' The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @gabriellabarras, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 497,000 views. Not only this, but it's also racked up 20,900 likes, 471 comments and 23,700 saves. One person said: 'Thank you very much for your recommendations.' 5 Her multi-step routine has transformed her hair Credit: Reddit
