Fortnite's Power Rangers live action trailer is easily its best one ever
It's often difficult to get excited about new Fortnite crossovers, not because there's too many of them (a game with Batman, Darth Vader, and Goku in it would've sounded impossible a decade ago) but because they're always leaked out weeks in advance by dataminers.
As such, fans often know who will pop up in the next season before Epic Games says anything official. The most recent example being the Power Rangers, with reliable Fortnite dataminers claiming skins based on the original 90s TV show would arrive as part of the next season.
So, how can Epic Games generate hype for something everybody already knows about (other than doing a better job of hiding unannounced content in the game's files)? The answer: a really good and genuinely fun live action trailer.
Earlier today, the Fortnite YouTube channel uploaded a trailer for Fortnite Chapter 6: Season 4, subtitled Shock 'N Awesome, which begins this Thursday on August 7 and looks to involve the island being invaded by alien bugs.
We'd have thought Ellen Ripley would be the one called in to help with that one, but she's already a skin in Fortnite, so the Power Rangers have been picked instead.
Their arrival suddenly causes the animated cinematic to shift to live action and the trailer essentially turns into a fight scene from the original show.

Aside from it having the same aspect ratio and grainy film quality, the rangers themselves are in actual suits and the bugs are reimagined as the kind of dopey looking 'just guys in suits' monsters you'd see in the show. The same goes for Fortnite characters like Peely (the sentient banana).
The special effects are more modern, such as the red ranger summoning a minigun, but anyone with nostalgia for the 90s show will be suckered in, especially since a rendition of the Power Rangers theme song plays throughout.
Early responses from fans on YouTube are very positive, with more than a few describing it as one of the best trailers Fortnite has ever done, if not one of the best gaming trailers ever.
The trailer doesn't indicate what sort of cosmetics will be available in the new season, but according to dataminers like ShiinaBR, it will include skins for the red, blue, black, yellow, and pink rangers. More Trending
The ending graphic features the green ranger so he's undoubtedly a skin as well, plus what is clearly a spartan from Halo, corroborating leaks that Xbox's shooter series will be crossing over this season too.
This wouldn't be the first time, since Master Chief was added as a Fortnite skin back in 2020. Since it wasn't exclusive Xbox content, it was weird at the time to see Master Chief appear on PlayStation and Nintendo formats.
It's not so bizarre now thanks to Microsoft's multiplatform push, with heavily rumoured plans for Halo games appearing on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Why Fortnite is adding more Halo now is a mystery, but it may hint at a reveal at Gamescom in a few weeks – perhaps the long rumoured, multiformat remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved.

Inside the eerie abandoned hotel in Japan - which once used to be a religious-themed amusement park
An explorer who visited Japan 's largest abandoned resort has shared fascinating footage of the decaying complex - including the remnants of what would have been a five-star, 1000-room hotel. Josh, a YouTube content creator from the United States, regularly delves into some of the world's spookiest abandoned sites, including The Paris Catacombs and Pripyat, a 'ghost' town located in Chernobyl. In a recent video uploaded to his channel, @ExploringWithJosh, in July, the adventurer travelled to Ishikawa, Japan, to take a closer look at Utopia Kaga. The resort, also known as Kaga No Sato, was a religious-themed amusement park that had opened in 1987, before it was abandoned and torn down in 2005 following the Japanese bubble economy collapse in the early 1990s. Once a thriving attraction, the 28 billion yen (£141M) resort featured temple halls, rollercoasters, a golden pagoda and a 240ft statue of Kaga Daikannon. But over four decades on, nothing remains of the park's past glory after being left to the elements due to high demolition costs. Though the towering golden statue still overlooks the lush green landscape, much of the resort is in ruins, with scenes from Josh's video showing dilapidated buildings, crumbling cars and overgrown vegetation. In one scene, Josh and his crew can be seen heading into the Raken Hall, which is home to 1000 Buddha statues with unique expressions. Blown away by the set-up, he commented: 'I've never seen anything like this. This is a surreal place. The decay of the ceiling... all of the statues in a row... This is something in a dream.' He then moved on to explore the resort's sprawling, five-star hotel, which was initially designed to allow hundreds of visitors to experience a 33-temple pilgrimage in a single day. In scenes captured by Josh, the hotel, which was finally vacated around 2012, astonishingly appears frozen in time. Most of the largely empty rooms in the building can be seen with broken glass windows and tattered curtains and carpets. However, wooden hangers are seen perfectly hung in wardrobes, while duvet covers remain folded on top of beds and fridges lay intact and unplugged nearby. Tatami rooms remain untouched, with calendars still on walls, while toy dispensers continue to spill out toys. One of the hotel's 'main areas' is shown strewn with old wooden furniture, a fully functional keyboard, and even an old crumbling Cadillac parked inside. Josh commented that the classic car had been 'preserved pretty well' despite its condition. Meanwhile, multiple onsen - Japanese hot spring bathing facilities that use geothermal waters - across the complex feature baths overtaken by creeping greenery and surrounded by broken porcelain and debris. In a bizarre twist to the visit, Josh stumbled across an entire building that contains what appears to be a model of a Middle Eastern land, complete with a floor made of sand, miniature camels and tiny palm trees. Concluding his visit, Josh said: 'Our mouths are completely dry. This is one for the books. One of the coolest places in Japan.' Though the park is in ruins, it now stands as an attraction where visitors can interact with free-roaming rabbits and engage in activities like feeding them and participating in craft workshops. There is also a museum displaying sculptures and lacquerware.

Pete Wicks 'in secret romance' as he admits he's 'in love' with mystery woman
Pete Wicks has been forced to admit he is in a secret relationship (Image: Staying Relevant Podcast/Youtube) Pete Wicks has been rumbled for being in a passionate romance - and was forced to admit he is already in love. The 36-year-old reality star is well known for his womanising ways - as fans will be well aware. His love life took a central focus while he was a participant in ITV's The Only Way Is Essex as viewers saw him meet, fall in love with, date, then break up with a string of women when he was part of the cast from 2015 until 2022. Even away from Towie, his romantic exploits have drawn attention both on and off camera. Pete has taken part in E4's chaotic reality dating show Celebs Go Dating three times - featuring on the show in 2019, 2020 and 2022. It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025. Get Me Out Of Here! The romance came to an abrupt end earlier this year, however - with Maura making explosive headlines in March when she was caught locking lips with married McFly star Danny Jones. In the intervening months, Pete has managed to keep his love life under the radar - but that has all changed. The star runs a podcast called Staying Relevant with Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson. And in a new episode, the notorious Lothario was forced to admit he is secretly dating a new woman. The truth was unearthed as Pete took part in a lie detector test alongside his co-host. While fielding questions, Sam grew mischievous and asked Pete: "Are you in love with somebody right now?" When Pete answered "No," he was rumbled as the polygraph results showed he was not telling the truth. The outcome delighted Sam, who exclaimed: "Ahhh I knew it! And that's all we're going to say." A stunned Pete then replied: "How could you do that to me?" But Sam then joked: "I don't know, it just came to my head, it's a f****** lie." He then declared: "Pete's in love with somebody. Find her! Find her! Pete's in love secretly and I think I know who it is." Pete previously dated Love Island's Maura Higgins (Image: Getty Images) However, it seems Sam forced Pete's hand - as the Towie legend grumbled: "You know exactly who it is, I literally told you the f****** story, she's not replied." He then fumed: "Why would you put that one in there? That was not on the f****** list!" And urging the line of questioning to move on, Pete added: "Are we f****** done with me now?" While the boys did not name any named, Pete has been most recently linked to Love Island star Samantha Kenny - as they were spotted embracing outside a nightclub in Mayfair at the end of March. His romance with Maura came to an explosive end in February amid allegations he had not been faithful. However, the following month, Maura sparked home-wrecker accusations after she was spied kissing pop singer Danny - who has been married to model Georgia Horsley since 2014. One Piece fans 'so hyped' as Netflix drops season 2 trailer with Bridgerton favourite
The Straw Hats are back Netflix has just dropped a fresh trailer for One Piece season two, teasing new characters featured in the forthcoming instalment. The live-action anime is set to return for its second series in 2026 and has already been renewed for season three. A new teaser, released on August 9, introduces fans to major characters, including one played by Bridgerton favourite Charithra Chandran. The action-packed trailer kicks off with Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) narrating: "Everything I've done, everywhere I go, is for the One Piece," before viewers catch a glimpse at the villains the crew will face. According to the synopsis, this season will feature "fiercer adversaries and the most perilous quests yet." It adds: "Luffy and the Straw Hats set sail for the extraordinary Grand Line — a legendary stretch of sea where danger and wonder await at every turn. "As they journey through this unpredictable realm in search of the world 's greatest treasure, they'll encounter bizarre islands and a host of formidable new enemies." Chandran is among the show's newcomers, stepping into the role of Nefertari Vivi, also known as Miss Wednesday. She dons a blue ponytail in the trailer and looks worlds away from her Regency attire as Bridgeton's Edwina Sharma. Fans will also spot Brendan Murray (Devil's Peak) towering over the Straw Hats as Brogy, while Callum Kerr (Hollyoaks) appears as Smoker, and Lera Abova (Honey, Don't!) steps into the role of Nico Robin, also known as Miss All-Sunday. The YouTube teaser has racked up over two million views in less than 24 hours, with fans expressing their excitement in the comments section. "I'M SO HYPED," exclaimed one fan, with another stating: "I've never smiled non-stop as I did for this trailer with any other trailer before." A third penned: "As a One Piece fan, who is caught up with the anime, this makes me proud and excited for this season." Meanwhile, a fourth said: "Teasing season 3 is in production during a season 2 first look is diabolically wonderful." Based on Eiichiro Oda's beloved manga, One Piece first landed on Netflix in 2023. The series follows Monkey D. Luffy (played by Godoy) and his Straw Hat Pirates crew, as they journey across the seas in search of a legendary treasure known as the One Piece.
