CM Fadnavis inaugurates new administrative office of Maharashtra Energy Development Agency in Pune
Pune (Maharashtra) [India], June 8 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday inaugurated the new administrative office of Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) in Pune.
After inaugurating the newly constructed office, CM Fadnavis said, 'The Maha Urja building is a prime example of a green architecture. It focuses on energy conservation, and is designed to generate as much energy as it consumes, essentially making it a net-zero energy building.'
He highlighted that the government had been pushing for large-scale adoption of solar energy across the state.
'We are working to shift 16,000 megawatts of feeder load to solar energy. This model is Asia's largest project of its kind, which we aim to complete by 2026,' he added.
Fadnavis also laid out another ambitious target for the state's energy transition. He stated, 'Another major target is to ensure that by December 2025, all major government buildings are powered by solar energy.'
On Friday, Devendra Fadnavis announced the completion of the Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg and stated that it was a historic and emotional moment.
In a post on social media X, the CM wrote that the project was not just a road but a strong step towards a brighter future.

On June 5, the CM had stated that the project would play an essential role in the development of the state and the highway would be a corridor of prosperity of the state.This highway will be connected to Vadhan Port shortly.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that land has been acquired for the Samruddhi Highway in record time. Due to this route, 24 districts of the state, including Vidarbha, Marathwada, and North Maharashtra, have been connected to JNPT port; now, this highway will be connected to Vadhan port. Rs 55 thousand 335 crore has been spent on this 701 km long highway.
According to an official release, the 76-kilometre route of the Samruddhi Highway passes through Nashik and Thane districts. The Sahyadri mountain range in this area has made it a very difficult route for the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation to overcome this engineering challenge. The tunnel near Igatpuri is eight kilometres long, the longest in the state, and the widest in the country. (ANI)

UP to open procurement centres,announce maize MSP soon: CM
Kanpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said the govt will open procurement centres for maize and declare the minimum support price (MSP) for the crop soon. Addressing a gathering under 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' at Ajitmal in Auraiya, the CM accused the previous govts at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh of ignoring welfare of farmers. "For the first time in independent India, farmers became part of the central govt's political agenda in 2014 when Narendra Modi took over as the Prime Minister and several innovative schemes were introduced for their welfare," the CM said. Highlighting a change in agricultural patterns, he said that earlier the farmers in the state were limited to one or two crops, but maize emerged as a profitable third crop, cultivated on over five lakh hectares of land. "Farmers are now earning up to Rs 2.5 lakh per hectare. We assure farmers that we will soon open procurement centres and declare MSP for maize as well," the CM said. He said that under the BJP's double-engine govt, agricultural scientists and experts from Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) were sent from labs to the fields for the first time. ‘Ghat being built on Ulhas river using MLA funds illegal, raze it'
Thane: State irrigation department declared illegal and ordered the demolition of Antilia ghat being built at a cost of Rs 7 crore by the public works department (PWD) through the funds of BJP MLA Kumar Ailani on Ulhas River in Ulhasnagar's Shahad area. The direction to Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) came on a complaint by activist Sarita Khanchandani. In 2022, PWD started work after Ailani disbursed MLA funds to construct the ghat for Ganpati immersions and a walking path for citizens behind Regency Antilia housing society. Khanchandani first complained to UMC that trees were illegally cut on the banks of Ulhas River. When UMC did not respond, she complained to the irrigation department, under which the river area falls, as well as the Thane collector's office. "Google images of the riverbank clearly show that before the construction of the ghat, there was greenery. However, current images reveal that the greenery has vanished. The comparison between the before and after images is striking. Shockingly, the UMC commissioner, who also serves as the tree authority head, personally attended the bhoomipujan," she said in her complaint. Centre Approves Rs 24,000 Crore Projects For Delhi, Rs 3,500 Crore Tunnel Project Included

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday announced that the central government cleared infrastructure projects worth Rs 24,000 crore aimed at easing traffic congestion and curbing pollution in the capital and its adjoining areas. Among the key initiatives is a 5-km underground tunnel connecting Shiv Murti-Mahipalpur on the Dwarka Expressway to Nelson Mandela Road in Vasant Kunj. The project, to be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), is estimated to cost Rs 3,500 crore. Gupta said the tunnel plan was finalised during a recent meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and construction is expected to begin early next year. The tunnel will feature two underground tubes, each with three lanes, providing a six-lane signal-free corridor linking South Delhi with Dwarka and Gurugram. Designed with state-of-the-art safety and monitoring features — including electro-mechanical systems, fire safety, CCTV surveillance, control rooms, emergency exits, and cross-passages — the tunnel is expected to significantly decongest traffic on key stretches such as Rangpuri, Dhaula Kuan, Rao Tula Ram Marg, and NH-48. It will also enhance connectivity between Central and East Delhi and major expressways like the Delhi Expressway (NE-5), NH-44, NH-10, the Delhi-Jaipur Highway (NH-48), and the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway (NH-709B), via the Urban Extension Road and Dwarka Expressway.
