‘Kingdom' becomes Vijay Deverakonda's second biggest hit, Eyes Arjun Reddy to claim top spot
Vijay Deverakonda's action film Kingdom is performing well. It has become his second-biggest career hit within 10 days. The film has surpassed the earnings of Kushi. Kingdom's collections are nearing Arjun Reddy's record. The movie opened strongly across Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil versions. Its success has boosted Deverakonda's position in Telugu cinema. Vijay Deverakonda 's latest action drama Kingdom has emerged as the actor's second biggest career hit after just 10 days of release. The film has already overtaken the lifetime India net collections of his 2023 romantic drama Kushi (co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu ), and now stands at Rs 49.6 crore across all languages. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri and released in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, Kingdom opened to a strong Rs 18 crore on its first day, with the Telugu version contributing a massive Rs 17.25 crore. Despite a sharp drop on Day 2 to Rs 7.5 crore, the film stabilized over the weekend, earning Rs 8 crore on Saturday and Rs 7.4 crore on Sunday. The first week closed at a solid Rs 47.35 crore, making it one of the most profitable ventures for Deverakonda in recent years. The film entered its second week with Rs 1 crore on Friday (Day 9) and picked up on Saturday (Day 10) with Rs 1.25 crore in early estimates. Industry trackers expect Sunday's collections to push Kingdom past the Rs 50 crore mark by the end of it , leaving it just shy of a historic milestone for Deverakonda overtaking Arjun Reddy . Released in 2017, Arjun Reddy not only catapulted Vijay Deverakonda to stardom but also remains his highest-grossing film to date with an India net of approximately Rs 51 crore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo With the Kingdom less than Rs 1.5 crore away from that benchmark, trade experts predict the record could fall within the next couple of days, provided weekday drops remain controlled. The success of Kingdom is particularly significant because it comes after a mixed phase in Deverakonda's career. While Kushi performed decently with around Rs 46 crore net, it was nowhere near his earlier box office highs. The positive response to Kingdom bolstered by strong action set pieces, lavish production values, and Deverakonda's commanding screen presence has restored his position as one of Telugu cinema's leading box office draws. The Tamil version, though contributing modestly (Rs 3.65 crore so far), has helped expand Deverakonda's footprint in Tamil Nadu, a market which has been actively targeted by Telugu film actors. The theatrical run also benefits from limited competition, allowing the film to hold well in key urban centres. Though the film might be breaking the numbers of Arjun Reddy in the times to come, it is unlikely that Kingdom will have the same cultural impact as Sandeep Reddy Vanga 's directorial debut.
